Strategic Advantages of Implementing Enventive SoftwareAlan Smith
Enventive is an innovative tool that allows the engineers to base their early design decisions on the definition of the Quality function of the products that they design. It is used preferably in the conceptual stage, before any CAD data has been generated and can be the first stage in Design for Six Sigma (DfSS).

Agile Hardware Product Development (NextGen NPD plus - MRO shop example) inc...Richard Platt
This is the Master draft of a presentation that I gave to the Project Management Institute (pmi.org), on Next Generation New Product Development with an MRO Shop performance increase as a result of applying this methodology to shop operations, However the methodology in and of itself was intended for New Product Development teams, but the methodology was equally relevant and applicable for Mfg and Process operations, particularly when you are dealing with heterogeneous flows within the process itself, which current methods of NPD, are not able to address, and thus why in many cases they are not as effective an approach to getting the said process to move even faster, more efficiently and effectively. Have a look for yourself, try it out, let me know what you think.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

8. Enventive – Evaluating return on investment:
Statistical analysis and optimisation of complex designs in early
stages of the design:
↘Design Iterations
↘Prototypes
↗Customer Confidence
9. Enventive – Evaluating return on investment:

Exhaustive small contributor optimisation (due to technology).
↘Tooling changes – pre-production problems.
↘Manufacturing costs.

11. Enventive – Evaluating return on investment:
Ability for engineers to « perturb » their designs and understand its
behavior early stage.
↘Probability of production & pre-series problem.
↘Probability of warranty returns.
↗Capability & knowledge of identical engineering resources.
12. • Better satisfaction and confidence from customers, due to the fact that robust design methods can be the
basis for taking decisions in preliminary design.
• Savings in terms of tooling changes, design iterations and scrap.
1 avoided tooling change in one programme allows to save in general at least £30k and much more than
£75k in most of the cases.
• Better capacity to innovate, with same human resources and R&D investments
Because the R&D teams are able to design more easily and more quickly products that are more
sophisticated.
• Better capacity to manage changes during the lifecycle of the product.
(Better management of crossed impacts on several conflicting functional requirements).
• Better capacity to react when facing drifts of production outputs.
(Leveraging sensitivity information to know where and how much to act.)
• Exhaustively when enlarging tolerances of small impacts contributors.
Savings that can be made by asking larger tolerances to subcontractors on small impact contributors can
be valued to several thousands of £’s and often several tens of thousands of £’s.
• Reduction of prototyping costs. (Enventive acts like a variational mock up).
Depending on the industry, avoiding one prototype allows to save several thousand of £’s and in high
tech industries (aerospace, medical instruments…), this can go up to several tens of thousands of £’s.
Clients often go from 5 to 1 to 0 Prototypes.
