This research is analyzed with a semiotic approach, this approach seeks to find the meaning of the signs and markers in the film content in this study. The tourism promotion film with the title The Heart Beat Of Toba had a positive market response when it was first published on Instagram by the Minister of Tourism. at that time was Vishnu Tama. In today’s digitized society, it is not possible to isolate literacy from the rapid technological advances, social and economic factors and their impact on our communication. More than a decade ago, Kress (2003) recognized the broad move from the dominance of writing to that of the image, and the shift from the medium of book to the medium of screen. As we put the emphasis on the visual representation of the world, tourism —and destination branding, in particular— provide answers to how people consume visually. Tourism is primarily an image-making enterprise where gaze “socially and culturally organized” (Foucault, [1963] 1973) is constructed through signs, and tourism involves the collection of signs. Here, Kress’ (2003) claim that “the world told is a different world to the world shown” finds its most interesting realisation. But, how literacy can be combined with tourism? How can we introduce digital visual culture in education? How online destination branding can provide new ideas of how to teach the lesson of language in high school? In this paper, we explore the possibility to introduce content from the www.visitgreece.gr portal that heavily relies on image, such as Facebook, Google+ and Pinterest posts, as a new teaching language material addressing teenagers who are actively involved in the digitally mediated communication as themselves produce content on these social media platforms. Throughout the theory of multimodality and its application in teaching, the basic tenets of online destination branding, imagery in tourism, and digital media and learning we attempt to answer all the abovementioned questions.

Ethnographic animation, a novel form of visual ethnography, is capable of recording and representing
traditional cultures, experiences, memories and other non-textual historical materials and cultural
elements of ethnic minority groups. As a medium tasked with recording facts, how to ensure that the
content displayed by ethnographic animation is true and accurate is an issue that animators need to pay
attention to. Based on the author's ethnographic animated short film Longhorn Miao’s Love Songs, this
paper demonstrates that establishing a balanced relationship between etic and emic perspectives and
applying participatory design methods in the process of ethnic animation practice can effectively help
community members express their cultural views and voice through animation, thus showing the cultural
interpretation of ethnic minorities to the greatest extent. The research results of this paper will provide a
reference paradigm for animation practice related to ethnic minorities.
This document presents a conceptual framework for understanding social media-induced tourism (SMIT). It defines SMIT as tourism induced by social media posts where people are motivated to visit places they see online. The framework has three major aspects: experience, socio-technical, and user. The experience aspect examines the types of travel experiences portrayed and induced. The socio-technical aspect analyzes how social media features like hashtags and geotags influence virality and induce travel. The user aspect profiles social media users as both content creators and consumers and how their characteristics impact SMIT. Some potential research questions are presented to further study the interactions between these aspects and understand how SMIT occurs across different social media platforms.

Using a conceptual framework that builds on the constructs of community of practice (Homles & Meyerhoff, 1990; Lave & Wenger 1998; Wenger 1998) and superdiversity (Blommaert, 2013; Blommaert & Rampton, 2012; Jørgensen, Karrebæk, Madsen, & Møller, 2011; Vertovec, 2007), this study reports on the ways Armenian Syrian millennial refugees access information via social media. Findings are based on data collected through participant observations, interviews and survey protocols. The study showed the use of semiotic resources as social media allowed respondents to extend the social implicatures of language beyond their verbal proficiency levels.

Film and tourism during the 4.0 industrial revolution now have a strategic
positioning in attracting tourist visits. Because the film is able to exert a powerful
influence on tourist visits, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy then
carries out a program that closely targets millennials as a tourist market target with
the slogan 'instagramable'. Herein lies the power of film in attracting tourist visits
that can be a solution for all tourist areas in Indonesia, especially for Rumah Galuh
Village. At the beginning of the pioneering natural tourism in this village, the film
had an extraordinary impact on the number of tourist visits. In 2016 until now, the
number of tourist visits has increasingly declined. Based on these problems, research
on making tourist films as promotional media is expected to be a useful
breakthrough. This study uses the science of phenomenology, participant observation
techniques, with data analysis: (1) data reduction; (2) data presentation; and (3)
drawing conclusions / verification. The making of tourism films in this study uses 2
theories, a secondary theory, namely: the theory of film making with 3 working
indicators: pre-production, production and post-production of films, while the
primary theory is: film theory as a tourism promotion media with 4 working
indicators: color , features, properties and ratios. The results of the application of the
seven working indicators of the theory produce a true tourism film as a tourism
promotion media. For our next research we recommend the effect or impact caused
by the tourist film on the flow of tourist visits to these tourist destinations.
