Storyboard
- 1. Story Board Elegant Ape – Is Not About Me Turn down for what
- 2. This is the establishing shot. The shot fades in as the alarm goes off, showing the start of the day. The lightening is dark as well, to help show the early morning.
- 3. This high angled shot is showing the character pick up the alarm to turn it off. The fact they’re in bed confirms that the video is starting at the beginning of a day.
- 4. This medium shot shows the character getting out of bed to start the day.
- 5. This shows the character brushing his teeth to continue the storyline of the man getting ready for work. We repeat this shot a number of times to show days passing.
- 6. This shot, looking down on the character tying up his work shoes, ready to go to work
- 7. This shot, looking down on the character tying up his work shoes, ready to go to work.
- 8. The actor has got back from his day at work, we can tell this by what he is holding and wearing.
- 9. This close up focus pull, show the main protagonist, grabbing the marker pen, ready to mark off another day on his calendar.
- 10. This close up the character crossing off the day. We notice at the end of the week ‘studio’ appears.
- 11. The next shot shows the character getting back into bed after his day. The lighting is dark to connote night time. This and the previous 7 is a sequence of shots
- 12. The next shot shows the character a week earlier. Over the shoulder we see him editing a song. Something he really enjoys.
- 13. This shot cuts away from the narrative to the actor creating the track in a piece of software called FL Studio, a week before the narrative is set. This is just one shot of a small sequence showing this.
- 14. This shows the actor getting out of bed, continuing with the original narrative before the track creation sequence.
- 15. Here he gets out of bed to cross another day off in his ‘boring’ life, which to his surprise he notices today is the day he goes into the studio, a day he has been looking forward to.
- 16. This medium shot shows the actor coming out his bathroom changed and ready to go for the day. The type of clothing he is wearing relates to our research about clothing in the genre.
- 17. This close is then quickly shows the actor putting his shoes on. By using jump cuts this will not seem slow.
- 18. A close up of the keys shoes the actor quickly grab the keys off the side. The speed of the shot can relate to the actors mood and how he is doing things quickly.
- 19. The video will then cut to a long shot of the car pulling off the drive showing the person leaving his house to presumably go to the studio.
- 20. This shot shows the character entering the studio. This is a medium close up, over the shoulder of the character. We made it so the studio sign dominated the shot in order to show what is happening.
- 21. We will then use many different shots of the actor in the studio. This close up shows the mixing hardware in use.
- 22. Again, another example of using and recording sounds to make a track. We used a high angled shot to use a variety of shots.
- 23. This is another recording shot this time of the kick drum. We will try and record this and sync it up to the kick sound in the track.
- 24. This close up shows the phone recording the sounds he is playing on the drum.
- 25. This is the character setting up a microphone, ready for the singer to record although she doesn't’t actually appear in the video. We used two angles for this shot.
- 26. In this shot we see a close up of a print button. The character is printing off posters to advertise his song. We see this in the following shots. .
- 27. Here we see a low angle shot of the character placing up his posters. This is postmodern because the posters is the poster Sloth created.
- 28. Here we see a close up of him placing up a poster. The close up allows us to see the poster in detail.
- 29. This shot shows him placing a poster on the studio door. He made the song in this studio which makes our music video postmodern.
- 30. This shot shows the character walking off with his CD he has created. The lower angle means the focus is on the CD.
- 31. This shot shows a close up of the CD he has created. Because of there being nothing else in the shot, it means that the main for focus is on the CD.
- 32. This long shot shows the character walking out after creating his music, in the studio and collecting his new CD. We will use jump cuts during this sequence to meet the conventions of a dance music video.
- 33. This long shot from behind shows the actor walking away after a day in the studio. He is situated in the middle of the frame to show he is the most important part.
- 34. The final shots of the music video show the actor/artist walking out of the studio. By using the rule of thirds we have sectioned the actor centrally to show his importance. Jump cuts during the sequence allow the final shots to correspond with the fading of the song.
