This document summarizes two research papers on storage of grains. The first paper studies the effects of insect population density and storage time on damage and weight loss in maize due to two types of insects. It finds that the larger grain borer causes more damage and weight loss than the maize weevil. The second paper examines the insecticidal effects of the essential oil of Lonicera japonica flower buds and its compounds against two grain storage insects. It identifies the main compounds in the oil and finds the oil and compounds show potential as contact and fumigant insecticides.
