• Born on February 24th, 1955 in San Francisco, California
• Put up for adoption a week after birth
• Adoption was finalized under the condition that Steven would attend
college.
• Jobs went to Reed College in Portland, Oregon
• He studied Poetry, Literature and Physics
• After one semester, Jobs dropped out of college.

1976 – 1978: as Apple Owner
1979 – 1985: as Apple Manager
1985 – 1996: fired from Apple and establish NeXT & CEO Pixar
1996 – 2011: back to Apple as CEO

COMPONENTS OF JOBS LEADERSHIP
Power and Influence
In Apple.Inc Steve, have position power, as CEO; he has legitimate power, Reward power, Coercive power, Information
power, and ecological power. Steve also has personal power that can influence people around him.
Adaptable to situations
Steve already pass many stages in his life, first when he was a child in a poor family, when he was in collage he drop off,
when he started establish Apple and get fired, then he establish NeXT, then finally he return back to Apple. This kind of
situation that make Steve as and adaptive leader, start from leading himself to leading huge company.
Ambitious, Achievement oriented
Steve is the person who really want to achieve his dream, his passion with technology can’t be stooped .In middle 1985
Steve was fired from Apple, doesn’t make Steve desperate, but he rise up and start new company. And after he back to
Apple, the start again to achieve his dream to create revolutionary phone (iPhone) and revolutionary tablet (iPad).
Self-Confident
Steve, always prepare his words before standing on the stage, Steve believe that he presented the great product, and it
should be prepared with no mistake. This make Steve looks confident on the stage.
Creative
Steve always make something new for the market, make something that people never think before, make a
revolutionary product, and make trend in the market, Steve doesn’t follow the competitor product, but he create
the trend that his follower will try to copy that innovation, like Tablet PC iPad, lot of competitor like Samsung,
Sony, Acer, etc. want to compete.
Fluent in Speaking
Steve is the best presenter , he has talent to persuade people by the way he speak. Steve speaks in 16 Apple
conferences within past 20 years. And most of Steve Job presentation will end with applause from the audience.
Because the presentation always great. Steve always prepares every detail before stand on the stage. Fluent in
speaking is one of the apple key successes, because through speaking we can transfer the information to the
audience.
THE LEADERSHIP STYLE OF STEVE
JOBS
Transformational Leadership
 Like a Transformational Leader, he focuses on “Transforming” others to
help each other to be encouraging and harmonious, and to look out for the
organizations a whole.
 In his leadership he enhances the motivation performance of his followers
group, some people also categorize him as a Charismatic Leader. His
leadership creates valuable and positive change in the followers .
Unconventional Leadership
 Steve Jobs was an Unconventional Leader. His management style wasn’t
the stuff of university Text He was a “High-maintenance Co-worker” who
demanded excellence from his stuff and was known for his blunt delivery of
criticism. books, he wasn’t known for his consultative or consensus
building approach.
 But it was his sheer genius combined with his ability to articulate his vision
and bring stuff, investor and customers along on the journey; plus the
lessons learned in a major career setback, that made it work. The results
indisputable.
Charismatic Leadership
 In the past, many felt that Steve Jobs charismatic Leadership caused
some internal problems. At Apple, he was seen as a leader whose
brilliance and idealistic vision of “providing computers as a tool to change
the world,” drew other talented people to him.
 Also his habit of making decisions and then suddenly changing his mind
has been given as a part of the reason he is difficult to work for.
Visionary Leadership
 “Visionary” is how he is most often described in relation to apple, the
company he founded wit high school buddy Steve Wozniak in 1976, was
effectively fired from in 1985, and then returned to in 1997 with a renewed
sense of purpose.
 According to LA Times, the market value of Apple’s shares has grown from
about $US5 Billion in 2000 to $US351 Billion today making it one of the
biggest publically listed companies in the US.

 Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition . They somehow know what you truly want to
become.“
 "Let's go invent tomorrow rather than worrying about what happened yesterday.“
 If today were the last day of your life, would you want to do what you are about to do today?“
 Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what
you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't
found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."
 "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you
have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something--your
gut, destiny, life and karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the
difference in my life.“
 "Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they
feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it. They just saw something. It seemed obvious to
them after a while.“
Conclusion
 Jobs is an influential man who learned from his failures and gained maturity from them.
 True role model.
 Steve Jobs, an un conventional Leader, Visionary, Entrepreneur, and a manager who lead Apple to
be the most valuable company in the world
 What Steve Jobs leaves behind is his legacy, Untouched and Unchallenged.
 A true mentor and one of the greatest leaders, managers and an idol for those who wants to be
like him.
 Last of all, Jobs charisma, self confidence and passion for work, over shadow all his negative
characteristics thus making him one of the most successful Leader and CEO’s of the decade.

Young Steven Jobs • Born on February 24th, 1955 in San Francisco, California • Put up for adoption a week after birth • Adoption was finalized under the condition that Steven would attend college. • Jobs went to Reed College in Portland, Oregon • He studied Poetry, Literature and Physics • After one semester, Jobs dropped out of college.
  • 4. Carrier Experience 1976 – 1978: as Apple Owner 1979 – 1985: as Apple Manager 1985 – 1996: fired from Apple and establish NeXT & CEO Pixar 1996 – 2011: back to Apple as CEO

COMPONENTS OF JOBS LEADERSHIP Power and Influence In Apple.Inc Steve, have position power, as CEO; he has legitimate power, Reward power, Coercive power, Information power, and ecological power. Steve also has personal power that can influence people around him. Adaptable to situations Steve already pass many stages in his life, first when he was a child in a poor family, when he was in collage he drop off, when he started establish Apple and get fired, then he establish NeXT, then finally he return back to Apple. This kind of situation that make Steve as and adaptive leader, start from leading himself to leading huge company. Ambitious, Achievement oriented Steve is the person who really want to achieve his dream, his passion with technology can’t be stooped .In middle 1985 Steve was fired from Apple, doesn’t make Steve desperate, but he rise up and start new company. And after he back to Apple, the start again to achieve his dream to create revolutionary phone (iPhone) and revolutionary tablet (iPad). Self-Confident Steve, always prepare his words before standing on the stage, Steve believe that he presented the great product, and it should be prepared with no mistake. This make Steve looks confident on the stage.
  • 7. Creative Steve always make something new for the market, make something that people never think before, make a revolutionary product, and make trend in the market, Steve doesn’t follow the competitor product, but he create the trend that his follower will try to copy that innovation, like Tablet PC iPad, lot of competitor like Samsung, Sony, Acer, etc. want to compete. Fluent in Speaking Steve is the best presenter , he has talent to persuade people by the way he speak. Steve speaks in 16 Apple conferences within past 20 years. And most of Steve Job presentation will end with applause from the audience. Because the presentation always great. Steve always prepares every detail before stand on the stage. Fluent in speaking is one of the apple key successes, because through speaking we can transfer the information to the audience.

Transformational Leadership  Like a Transformational Leader, he focuses on “Transforming” others to help each other to be encouraging and harmonious, and to look out for the organizations a whole.  In his leadership he enhances the motivation performance of his followers group, some people also categorize him as a Charismatic Leader. His leadership creates valuable and positive change in the followers .
  • 10. Unconventional Leadership  Steve Jobs was an Unconventional Leader. His management style wasn’t the stuff of university Text He was a “High-maintenance Co-worker” who demanded excellence from his stuff and was known for his blunt delivery of criticism. books, he wasn’t known for his consultative or consensus building approach.  But it was his sheer genius combined with his ability to articulate his vision and bring stuff, investor and customers along on the journey; plus the lessons learned in a major career setback, that made it work. The results indisputable.
  • 11. Charismatic Leadership  In the past, many felt that Steve Jobs charismatic Leadership caused some internal problems. At Apple, he was seen as a leader whose brilliance and idealistic vision of “providing computers as a tool to change the world,” drew other talented people to him.  Also his habit of making decisions and then suddenly changing his mind has been given as a part of the reason he is difficult to work for.

Visionary Leadership  “Visionary” is how he is most often described in relation to apple, the company he founded wit high school buddy Steve Wozniak in 1976, was effectively fired from in 1985, and then returned to in 1997 with a renewed sense of purpose.  According to LA Times, the market value of Apple’s shares has grown from about $US5 Billion in 2000 to $US351 Billion today making it one of the biggest publically listed companies in the US.
  • 13. POWERFUL WORDS BY JOBS  Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition . They somehow know what you truly want to become.“  "Let's go invent tomorrow rather than worrying about what happened yesterday.“  If today were the last day of your life, would you want to do what you are about to do today?“  Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."  "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something--your gut, destiny, life and karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.“  "Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it. They just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.“

Conclusion  Jobs is an influential man who learned from his failures and gained maturity from them.  True role model.  Steve Jobs, an un conventional Leader, Visionary, Entrepreneur, and a manager who lead Apple to be the most valuable company in the world  What Steve Jobs leaves behind is his legacy, Untouched and Unchallenged.  A true mentor and one of the greatest leaders, managers and an idol for those who wants to be like him.  Last of all, Jobs charisma, self confidence and passion for work, over shadow all his negative characteristics thus making him one of the most successful Leader and CEO’s of the decade.
