Magazine Brief
Across the two issues of my real-life story magazine, I will use both males and females to represent the
two required social groups through gender, but it will be heavily focused on females to appeal to the
audience. My magazine will appeal to an audience of white, British, female 16-25-year-olds of D
classification in the socio-economic profiling model, who will expect a bright, unorganised magazine,
like Bauer's various other products of the same genre. After researching Bauer's magazines, I found
there are multiple of the same genre, but they differ in the age of the target audience. I will ensure my
brand and products will relate to those similar but still reach the slightly differing audiences'
expectations through using bright, feminine colours throughout my products, dominated by pink to
appeal to the young, female audience whilst fit with other products already produced. Other graphic
elements will also communicate the related style, such as the placement of my masthead ‘Life Insider’
in the top right corner like all the others, and a dominating sans-serif font type of, Myriad Headline to
communicate informality. To further meet my audiences' expectations of my magazine, the front cover
will feature a main image and coverline, surrounded by various smaller coverlines and images in an
unorganised manner like other magazines of the genre. Like other products of the genre, the contents
page will feature multiple sections of 'On the Cover', 'More Real Life' and 'Celeb Life', with features and
their page number underneath, so it's easy for the reader to find the features throughout. In the two
issues I produce, I will use the same design of the masthead in Lemon Milk font and pink and red as well
as the same layout and font types to create a consistent brand design, but I will differ the colour scheme
and contents.

My magazine will also be supported by its own website. The website will consist of the same masthead
and the text will be in the same fonts as in the magazine to create consistent branding across my
products. Like Bauer's other products websites, it will contain multiple sections that the reader can go to,
including the same sections as on the magazine's contents page as well as a subscription and social
media section. The colours on my website will relate to the colour scheme of the magazine, dominated by
pink and red along with other bright colours. The reader will be able to access the same magazine issues
and content from the website, but it will also feature exclusive content to drive the reader from the
magazine to the website.

It is essential that media products link together to create a consistent brand image and show the reader
that the magazine and website both represent the same products and brand. To do so, I will use the same
masthead and fonts throughout both my website and magazine, as well as a similar theme of colours to
create consistent branding. The magazine and website will both include elements exclusive to them to
drvie the reader between both of the products , but majority of the content in the products will be
available on both. All social media names and links will also be available on both.
