This document provides an overview of paragraph structure and elements. It discusses that a paragraph contains a topic sentence that introduces the main idea, and supporting sentences that elaborate on the topic sentence. It provides two examples of paragraphs that have clear topic sentences that make a claim or statement, followed by supporting sentences. It also discusses how supporting sentences should provide details to develop and clarify the main idea presented in the topic sentence.

4. A paragraph is…a group of sentences put together for a reason.like an individual, each with his or her own ideas. However, like a team, sentences must also work together to link ideas. 3
