This document outlines the final stages of designing and building chairs made of bamboo. It discusses presenting final designs to judges, selecting two designs to build, making material lists and detailed plans, drawing designs to scale, ensuring designs are feasible before building, keeping notes on the building process, and presenting the final chairs to clients along with explaining the design and construction process.

• We will then select the most feasible design or
designs to build.

4. The final two designs
• Due to the amount of materials and the good
quality of the designs, it was decided that two
chairs would be built.
• The four groups were then split into two
bigger groups and took forward two of the
designs.

• In order to build the designs we need to have
a list of materials and tools that we will need.
• Please write down every material and
dimensions of these by the end of the day...

8. Make sure your design is feasible before you
start building. If you realise a mistake when
you are already building, you will waste time
and materials

9. Homework
• We will be asking you for all the information of
how you made your chair so keep a note of it. We
will use this to then show others how to make it.
• You have three days to build your chair.
• In three days, we then want you, as a group, to
present the final design to the client. (see next
slide)
• Also hand in your material lists by the end of the
day

10. The Presentation:
In four days time, you will need to be ready to present the chair
to us. Your group will also need to be able to explain:
• How you met the clients requirements
• Who the stakeholders are and how their needs were met.
• How you planned the design
• How the design is innovative
• How they carried out market research
• What materials were used and why.
• How you worked as a team
• Development of the design
• Evaluation of your project
