These slides concern self-assembling lipid nanoemulsions, modeled from coated microbubbles (existing in natural waters). These stable nanoemulsions have been utilized successfully in biomedical, "targeted" drug-delivery studies in animals. 7. ARTIFICIAL “MIXED-LIPID” NANOEMULSIONS: Self-assembly using ONLY NONionic lipids; Contains both submicron-sized 1) lipid-coated microbubbles, and 2) liquid-crystal microparticles predominantly ( and both labeled “LCM” in slides below); Lipids employed consist of glycerides, cholesterol, and cholesterol esters (but NOT phospholipids).
