Edward Morgan Forster was born in 1879 in London to an architect father. He was raised primarily by his mother and great-aunt after his father's early death. Forster proved himself to be a bright student and attended Cambridge University, graduating in 1901. He then spent over a decade traveling, working as a journalist, and writing short stories and novels. Forster is best known for his novels that examined class differences in early 20th century British society, such as A Room with a View and Howards End.
