Doris Lessing was a British-African writer born in Iran in 1919 who wrote novels, short stories, poetry, and plays. She published her first book in 1950 and gained fame in the 1960s. Some of her notable works include The Grass is Singing and The Golden Notebook. Lessing received numerous honors for her writing, including the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2007. She explored themes of feminism, anti-authoritarianism, and colonialism.
