συνδετικός κρίκος ανάμεσα στην κτηνοτροφία και την οικιακή οικονομία.
Πολύτιμος όσο και η ιστορία μας, η ύπαρξή μας και αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι
της ελληνικής Λαογραφίας. Το ''εργαλείο'' για την μετατροπή της
μάλλινης ίνας σε θαλπωρή, ασφάλεια, πολιτισμό και επιβίωση.
Ο αργαλειός ταυτίστηκε με την Αράχοβα. Είναι περιώνυμα τα υφαντά
από τις Αραχωβίτισσες νοικοκυρές, οι οποίες κατάφεραν μέσα από αυτό
το ξύλινο παμπάλαιο εργαλείο, να παράγουν πολιτιστική άποψη, πέραν
από την φροντίδα της χειμερινής καθημερινότητας των σπιτιών τους.
Οι παλιότεροι θα θυμούνται καλύτερα τη χρήση και την ονοματολογία του
αργαλειού. Αυτό το εργαλείο έφτασε σε εμάς απ' τα ομηρικά κι ακόμα
παλιότερα χρόνια, σε μια παράδοση αιώνων που έντυσε γενιές και γενιές.
3. Ένας πολύτιμος αργαλειός
Μια κατά το δυνατόν πιστή αναπαράσταση αρχαίου όρθιου αργαλειού σε
πραγματικό μέγεθος αποτελεί το νέο έκθεμα του Λαογραφικού Μουσείου
Αράχωβας.
Η αναπαράσταση του αργαλειού έγινε με βάση αρχαιολογικές μαρτυρίες,
απεικονίσεις σε αγγεία και ανάγλυφα της αρχαιότητας, αλλά και
σύγχρονα εθνογραφικά παραδείγματα. Για την κατασκευή του
χρησιμοποιήθηκαν φυσικά υλικά, όπως ξύλο ελάτου, μάλλινο στημόνι και
υφάδι, καθώς και πήλινα υφαντικά βάρη, τα οποία κατασκευάστηκαν στο
Μουσείο Νεώτερης Κεραμεικής και αποτελούν απομιμήσεις πήλινων
υφαντικών βαρών που βρέθηκαν σε ανασκαφές στον προϊστορικό οικισμό
της Σχιστής Οδού (περ. 2500 π.Χ.), στο Ζεμενό της Αράχωβας, ενώ σήμερα
εκτίθενται στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Χαιρώνειας.
Ο αργαλειός αυτός αποσκοπεί στο να παρουσιάσει την εξέλιξη της
υφαντικής τέχνης από τους αρχαίους χρόνους έως σήμερα και
απευθύνεται σε μικρούς και μεγάλους επισκέπτες του Μουσείου,
καλώντας τους να ζήσουν την εμπειρία της υφαντικής παράδοσης και να
πειραματιστούν με τον αρχαίο τρόπο ύφανσης.
4. Στην Αράχωβα στα περισσότερα σπίτια του χωριού o αργαλειός ήταν
μόνιμα στημένος, κάτω από χαγιάτια (μπαλκόνια), στο κατώι δίπλα πάντα
από παράθυρο και προσωρινά πολλές φορές στην άκρη του δωματίου στο
σπίτι. Οι γυναίκες του σπιτιού περνούσαν πολλές ώρες υφαίνοντας τα
ρούχα που φορούσαν, τα ρούχα που έστρωναν στο πάτωμα, τα ρούχα που
σκεπάζονταν.
Ο αργαλειός φτιαχνόταν από τέσσερα ισομεγέθη γερά και βαριά όρθια
ξύλα από δρυς, που συνδέονταν και με άλλα ξύλα, με ειδικούς αρμούς και
είχε τα έξης εξαρτήματα: Δύο «αντί» που στο ένα τυλιγόταν το στημόνι
και στο άλλο το υφάδι, διάφορα χτένια, δύο ποδαρικά, τέσσερα μιτάρια,
το ξυλόχτενο, την ποταμίστρα, την κουρούνα, τις τροχαλίες, τις σαΐτες, το
κάθισμα και τις συνδετήρες.
Παράλληλα με το χτύπημα του αργαλειού και την διάθεση της γυναίκας
που ύφαινε σε κάθε σπίτι και γειτονιά ακούγονταν χαχανητά,
κουτσομπολιά, μοιρολόγια ή τραγούδια.
Για τη λειτουργία του αργαλειού χρειαζόταν το υφάδι και το στημόνι.
Πρώτα θα ετοιμαζόταν το υφάδι. Τα μαλλιά πλένονταν στο ποτάμι και
στεγνώνονταν στον ήλιο, τα περνούσαν στα λανάρια (ξύλινα εργαλεία,
πάνω στα οποία έχουν μπηχτεί μυτερά σίδερα). Σε αυτά λαναρίζονταν
(ξένονταν) τα μαλλιά, τρίβονταν και γίνονταν απαλά και κατάλληλα για τη
ρόκα. Ύστερα γνέθονταν στη ρόκα, γίνονταν γνέμα (νήμα) που μαζευόταν
σε δρούγες και κατόπιν σε κουβάρια. Το γιδόμαλο (κοζά) το χτυπούσαν
για να μαλακώσει.
Το γνέμα (νήμα) βαφόταν με αγοραστά χρώματα ή το έβραζαν με φυσικές
βαφές από χοντρές φλούδες δέντρου (κόκκινο), φλούδια καρυδιάς
(καφέ), φύλλα ευκαλύπτου και βελανιδιάς (μπεζ), κρεμμυδόφλουδα (ροζ),
καρπούς ή φούντες μελιάς ή μελιού (μαύρο χρώμα),από κικίδια ή ρίζες
φυτών (χακί), με καπνιά από το τζάκι (κεραμιδί) κ.λπ..
Το γνέμα αυτό περασμένο στις σαΐτες έδινε τα σχέδια στο υφαντό, καθώς
ξετυλιγόταν σιγά-σιγά απ' τα μασούρια. Το στημόνι πρώτα έπαιρνε την
κατεύθυνση που χρειαζόταν για την ύφανση και μετριόταν με οργιές
ανάλογα τι υφαντό ήθελαν να φτιάξουν. Μετά το μέτρημα σχηματίζονταν
δεμάτια με εικοσιπέντε κλωστές. Με τις τυλίχτρες, το στημόνι τυλιγόταν
στο «αντί» (πισάντι) κι ύστερα το περνούσαν στον αργαλειό και το
πρόσδεναν σ' ένα δεύτερο, αφού πρώτα περνούσαν τις κλωστές μέσα από
τα χτένια.
Για τη σταύρωση του στημονιού υπήρχαν τα μιτάρια. Με το διαδοχικό
πάτημα στα ποδαρικά το στημόνι άνοιγε το «στόμα» και πέρναγε η σαΐτα.
5. Το υφάδι κανόνιζε την ούγια, ενώ το στημόνι κανόνιζε το πλάτος του
υφαντού. Τέλος, το ξυλόχτενο με δυνατή πίεση έσφιγγε τις κλωστές και το
υφάδι-ύφασμα τυλιγόταν στο «αντί» προστάντι, που κι αυτό με τη σειρά
του περιστρεφόταν με ένα μοχλό, που μπαίνει στις τέσσερις τρύπες του.
Η δουλειά στον αργαλειό ήθελε πολύ προσοχή, υπομονή και πολύ
επιμονή. Ιδιαίτερα όταν το υφαντό είχε σχέδια με κενά διαστήματα και
χρωματιστές γραμμές. Η τέχνη και τα μυστικά της περνούσαν από μάνα σε
κόρη, που παρατηρούσαν και αντέγραφαν διάφορα σχέδια από
λουλούδια, δέντρα, φύλλα και τα μετέφεραν πάνω στο υφαντό.
