MOVE Congress 2019 presentation by Vivian Doumpa, Stipo Greece, in the track 'Redefining an active lifestyle with MOVEment Spaces and Placemaking' on 17 October.
The document is a 25 page presentation created with Haiku Deck presentation software. Each page features an image credited to a different photographer and the caption "Social Media: Created with Haiku Deck, presentation software that's simple, beautiful and fun."
The document discusses the Digital Youth Network (DYN) program in Chicago that aims to improve education for urban youth. It notes the challenges of educating a growing urban population and high dropout rates. DYN merges in-school and out-of-school learning through new media and peer groups. It utilizes play, scaffolding, and Vygotsky's zone of proximal development to engage students. DYN also provides media literacy education and online learning tools. Evaluation found improved test scores and participation among DYN students.
The Convergence Academies program aims to increase student engagement and achievement by integrating students' interests and informal learning experiences into the classroom using a "connected learning" approach. This is accomplished through Digital Ateliers that provide creative spaces for exploration with digital media and mentors, as well as redesigning instruction to incorporate more hands-on and interest-driven activities. An evaluation found that the program motivates students and improves attendance, GPAs, and 21st century skills among participants.
Typically you might use Social Media to focus your students on your course content but Prof Nixon’s project focuses the students to make student driven projects to learn how to make and interact in a design sensibility of social media. Create a project that would inspire the activist of the students. To take action and inspire others to take action.

Dahlia Mahmoud & Elisabeth Stoney (Zayed University, Abu Dhabi): Community, creative practice and sharing marginal narratives.
This document discusses the importance of teachers continuing to learn and adapt to new technologies and strategies in order to effectively teach students in the 21st century. It notes that teachers must go beyond solely using textbooks and familiar worksheets, and should question existing methods and research new approaches. Teachers are also encouraged to understand social media and how students use digital tools, even if not integrating these tools into their own lessons, in order to help guide students online. The document advocates making lessons highly engaging using multimedia tools, and adapting to the pervasive presence of mobile devices and helping technology work for lessons rather than being a distraction. It promotes a student-centered approach and individualizing instruction to different learners.

Presentation about the University of Edinburgh OER Service's programme of student student employment, exploring how salaried internships encourage students to become knowledge activists. OER24 Conference, Cork.
The project, which took more than a year of work. We had planned to launch it in February. But that didn't happen for obvious reasons. Now looking forward to September.
This document provides an overview and instructions for a workshop on online identity and profiling called the Dynamic Identity workshop. It includes summaries of the workshop modules for two age groups (11-14 and 15-18), which cover topics like self-presentation, profiling theory, confronting online identities using augmented reality, and a game to illustrate profiling. It also provides presentation materials, instructions for workshop leaders, consent forms, and evaluations. The goal is to raise students' awareness of how they present themselves online and how their data is used, and to empower them to manage their online identities.
The document proposes the RFK-LA (Legacy in Action) project, which aims to establish a model for 21st century learning. RFK-LA would be located within a K-12 school cluster and serve as an education center, community hub, and digital media content creation lab. It would provide media literacy programs and participatory, project-based learning opportunities for students, teachers, and community members to prepare youth for civic engagement in the digital age. Key partners include academics from USC, MIT, and industry leaders from Apple and LAUSD to support the initiative.
This document discusses teaching literacy in the Snapchat era. It argues that digital literacy must be at the core of education as most information is now consumed online. Meaningful online learning involves creating content rather than just consuming it. Instructors should design challenge-based and meaningful assignments that use technology and allow students to experiment. Storytelling and seeing/hearing each other online can foster empathy and correlate with higher student success. Innovations in online teaching are central to improving literacy instruction.

Innovation 2013 conference - The Journey to Democratizing Education - Ben Gur...Nava Levy
The advances in cloud computing technology as well as fast declining prices of broadband communications access and end-user devices, present a tremendous opportunity for democratizing education. In this presentation, we will see how we can harness these new & disruptive technologies to give access to everyone to high quality educational resources, for free. We will see why and how this journey is different for academic education vs. kids education, and how with the goodwill of the community we can finally democratize kids education to achieve equality, peace and prosperity for all.
This document discusses using social media tools in education. It summarizes a graphic design program at SUNY Ulster that has students create projects using social media tools. The projects are exhibited publicly. Examples are provided of student projects on Facebook and YouTube about daily good deeds and wants/needs. The document encourages applying this "real world classroom" model using free internet tools. It provides examples of how social media tools like Wikispaces, Second Life, blogs, and Google Docs can be used across different course subjects.

Why Psychological Safety Matters for Software Teams - ACE 2024 - Ben Linders.pdfBen Linders
Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.

Carrer goals.pptx and their importance in real lifeartemacademy2
Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.
