Seth Familian led a Squarespace bootcamp to teach participants how to build a website in one day. The bootcamp covered establishing goals and site structure, organizing and populating content, configuring Squarespace designs, populating site pages, and finalizing/publishing the site. Participants worked through each step, building out sample sites to populate with their own content.

The technologies and people we are designing experiences for are constantly changing, in most cases they are changing at a rate that is difficult keep up with. When we think about how our teams are structured and the design processes we use in light of this challenge, a new design problem (or problem space) emerges, one that requires us to focus inward. How do we structure our teams and processes to be resilient? What would happen if we looked at our teams and design process as IA’s, Designers, Researchers? What strategies would we put in place to help them be successful? This talk will look at challenges we face leading, supporting, or simply being a part of design teams creating experiences for user groups with changing technological needs.

UX, ethnography and possibilities: for Libraries, Museums and ArchivesNed Potter
These slides are adapted from a talk I gave at the Welsh Government's Marketing Awards for the LAM sector, in 2017.
It offers a primer on UX - User Experience - and how ethnography and design might be used in the library, archive and museum worlds to better understand our users. All good marketing starts with audience insight.
The presentation covers the following:
1) An introduction to UX
2) Ethnography, with definitions and examples of 7 ethnographic techniques
3) User-centred design and Design Thinking
4) Examples of UX-led changes made at institutions in the UK and Scandinavia
5) Next Steps - if you'd like to try out UX at your own organisation
Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere, promising self-driving cars, medical breakthroughs, and new ways of working. But how do you separate hype from reality? How can your company apply AI to solve real business problems?
Here’s what AI learnings your business should keep in mind for 2017.
Study: The Future of VR, AR and Self-Driving CarsLinkedIn
We asked LinkedIn members worldwide about their levels of interest in the latest wave of technology: whether they’re using wearables, and whether they intend to buy self-driving cars and VR headsets as they become available. We asked them too about their attitudes to technology and to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the devices that they use. The answers were fascinating – and in many cases, surprising.
This SlideShare explores the full results of this study, including detailed market-by-market breakdowns of intention levels for each technology – and how attitudes change with age, location and seniority level. If you’re marketing a tech brand – or planning to use VR and wearables to reach a professional audience – then these are insights you won’t want to miss.

WordPress Page Builders for Non-Developers (Create Visual Layouts Without Code)Geoff Myers

About the Topic
A great tool if used correctly should save you time and simplify your project.
Will WordPress page builders (a.k.a. visual drag-and-drop layout editors) in the hands of a website owner eliminate the need for a designer or developer? Should a designer or developer feel guilty about using a page builder? The answers to these questions are no and no.
Join Christopher Stratman and Geoff Myers as they take a look at four of the most popular WordPress page builders available: Visual Composer, Cornerstone, Divi Builder, and Beaver Builder. They will be giving a high-level overview and live demonstration of all four and discuss how they use them in their website design and development processes.
Page builders in the WordPress ecosystem can speed up the design and build time for a designer or website owner. Tools within the page builders can provide you with new opportunities to push your design limits without having to learn lots of CSS and JavaScript coding skills.

My Website Is Old Enough To Vote - Kris HowardWordCamp Sydney
The Web is an industry that thrives on the new... but what about building sites that last?
In 1996, I used my newly acquired HTML skills to build a fan site for my favourite author.
Twenty years later, the site - roalddahlfans.com - is still alive and kicking.
I'll trace the development of the site over the years, which mirrors both my own career journey as a developer and the trajectory of the web as a whole.
I'll also talk about the challenges I faced during my recent 6-month project to convert the whole site - nearly 1500 pages - to WordPress, dragging it into the 21st century at last.
Become a Confluence Whiz Kid: Organized Spaces and Beautiful PagesAtlassian
Many great achievements started with a page in Confluence. Still, users always ask us how to get started creating and organizing content. How you choose to organize content in Spaces and what your pages look like determines how effective your content is.
John Wetenhall, Confluence Whiz, is sharing top tips for Space organization and page creation from his 4 years working on Confluence and speaking to scores of users. He'll focus on Confluence's top use cases: project collaboration and knowledge bases, with hands on examples from Atlassian's own internal Confluence instances, so you know what great spaces and pages can look like, and how to actually create them.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
