Regression
رگرسیون چند متغیره
رگرسیون و مدل های قابل تبدیل به مدل خطی

Systematic reviews, rapid reviews, and scoping reviews are all types of literature reviews but differ in their methods and objectives. Systematic reviews have a narrow question and use comprehensive searches and selection criteria to minimize bias. They analyze available studies to answer a specific question. Rapid reviews have time constraints and omit some systematic review stages to provide timely information. Scoping reviews have broader questions and identify the nature and scope of research on a topic, including identifying gaps. They involve iterative searches and selection and usually do not critically appraise studies.
This document outlines the typical structure of a research synopsis, including: [1] Introduction with background and context; [2] Review of literature to identify prior work and research gaps; [3] Statement of the research problem and objectives; [4] Description of the research methodology; [5] Outline of proposed thesis structure; [6] Timeline for completing the research; and [7] References in a standard citation style. The synopsis provides an overview of the research topic and plan to demonstrate the significance and feasibility of the proposed work.
This document provides an overview of Epi Info, statistical software developed by the CDC for epidemiology. It discusses the software's history, beginning as an MS-DOS program in 1985. This presentation provides an overview of literature reviews and their importance in research. It begins with definitions of key terms like literature and literature review. It then discusses the various purposes and approaches to reviewing literature, including the positivist, post-positivist, and critical theory models. The presentation outlines a seven step model for conducting literature reviews and provides guidelines. It also covers trends like theoretical literature reviews, empirical literature reviews, conceptual frameworks, and critical/analytical frameworks. In conclusion, it emphasizes that literature reviews establish the background and theoretical foundation for research.
This document discusses key aspects of research methodology. It begins by defining research as a systematic process of examining a topic closely through various methods such as observation and experimentation. The document then outlines several types of research including pure research, applied research, descriptive research, and correlational research. It also discusses different research methods like library research, field research, and laboratory research. The rest of the document delves into various steps of research methodology such as formulating hypotheses, preparing a research design, identifying variable types, and qualifying a rigorous research. Overall, the document provides a comprehensive overview of conceptualizing and planning a scientific research study.
The document provides guidance on scientific writing and publishing research papers. It discusses selecting an appropriate journal, formatting a paper, organizing different sections like the introduction, methods, results, figures, discussion and abstract. Key sections are summarized concisely and the main points about writing style, flow, and enhancing clarity are highlighted. Following the guidelines can help authors effectively communicate their research for publication.
There are key differences between qualitative and quantitative research. Quantitative research generates numerical/statistical data through tools like questionnaires and focuses on measuring and analyzing target concepts precisely. Qualitative research generates non-numerical data like words through interviews and focuses on understanding human behavior and reasons for it through a subjective approach. While quantitative research aims to generalize findings, qualitative research provides in-depth descriptions and explores phenomena. The choice depends on the research question - qualitative is used for exploratory studies, while quantitative is used for conclusive studies later in the research process.
Strengthening health systems in Sub-Saharan Africa requires health policy and systems research and analysis (HPSR+A). HPSR+A takes a multidisciplinary approach to understand how health systems function and how to improve them. It also examines how to influence health policies and implement policies effectively to strengthen systems. Some priorities for HPSR+A include conducting mixed-method longitudinal studies, using theory, and thinking outside disease-specific approaches to consider the broader health system issues. Several HPSR+A studies provided examples of how health systems can be strengthened by taking a systems perspective rather than just focusing on individual programs or diseases.

This document discusses measurement error in medical research. It notes that measurement error is common for variables like blood pressure, diet, smoking status, and others. Measurement error can bias results and weaken observed associations. However, measurement error corrections are rarely applied in medical studies, with only a small percentage of studies accounting for it. The document advocates that researchers should be more aware of measurement error and its effects and consider ways to address it in studies.
The document discusses methods for measuring performance and clinical outcomes in healthcare. It describes the major domains of patient safety measurement as harm, mortality, infections, readmissions, patient satisfaction, and safety culture. It then focuses on defining medical errors and adverse events, and explaining why measurement is important for evaluating current systems and improving outcomes. Different methods of data collection are outlined, including direct observation, cohort studies, record review, and incident reporting systems. The Global Trigger Tool for assessing harm using chart review is also summarized.
This document outlines seven research methods used in anthropological research: surveys, participant observation, case studies, secondary analysis, experiments, analysis of documents, and unobtrusive measures. It describes the steps of participant observation which include mind mapping, diagrams, note taking, evaluation, and summarization. Key tools for cultural anthropologists in participant observation are finding informants, interviews, counting, photography, mapping, and learning about cultures. The document also discusses defining problems, reviewing literature, formulating hypotheses, choosing research methods, collecting and analyzing data, and sharing results in presentations and citations.
Dr. Pragyan Paramita Parija's presentation outlines statistics and biostatistics concepts and discusses various statistical software tools used in public health. It introduces statistics and defines biostatistics as applying statistical tools to biological data from medicine and public health. The presentation describes steps for research, applications of statistical software in public health, advantages of using computer software, and commonly used software like Excel, Epi Info, SPSS, SAS, and R. It provides an overview of each software including costs, pros, and cons to help users select the appropriate software.

This document discusses research design and qualitative and quantitative research methods. It covers key differences between qualitative and quantitative research, as well as different qualitative research orientations like phenomenology, ethnography, grounded theory, and case studies. Common qualitative research techniques are also outlined, such as focus groups, depth interviews, observations, and projective techniques. The document emphasizes that qualitative research is useful for exploratory objectives and developing an in-depth understanding of phenomena.
This document discusses different types of epidemiological study designs. It outlines non-interventional studies like exploratory, descriptive, and analytical observational studies. It also describes interventional studies, including experimental randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs. For each study type, the document explains their purpose, design, analysis methods, advantages, and disadvantages. Choosing an appropriate study design depends on ethical issues, available resources, validity of results needed, and the topic being examined.
This document discusses ethnography and participant observation. It covers several key topics:
1) Debates around the relationship between social research methods and natural scientific methods.
2) Criticisms of ethnography regarding its objectivity and ability to produce universally valid knowledge.
3) Discussions around the practical applications of ethnography and whether its primary goal should be knowledge production or solving practical problems.
4) Analyses of the "literary" aspects of ethnographic texts and their conventions, representations, and rhetoric.
5) Implications of rhetorical analyses for the ethical and political dimensions of ethnography.
This document outlines the process of thematic analysis for qualitative research methods. It discusses constructing categories from the data and naming themes. The criteria for categories is that they should be responsive to the research purpose, exhaustive, mutually exclusive, and sensitizing. The number of themes can depend, but preferably there should be five to six according to Cresswell. Different types of qualitative data analysis are described, including phenomenological, grounded theory, ethnographic, narrative, case studies, and content analysis. Guidance is provided on the specific processes for each type. The importance of focusing on the research question rather than getting lost in software is also emphasized.
