Recent MOXXI Initiatives
• 1. MOXXI Session at the 19th Biennial ERB Conference 2024: We have an exciting opportunity to present the
MOXXI Session at the upcoming ERB Conference from 17th to 20th September 2024. The session promises to
be an excellent platform to showcase our advancements and contributions in the field.
• We are promoting a special session on Advancing Environmental Monitoring with Image-Based Solutions at
the IEEE MetroXRAINE. Date: OCTOBER 21-23, 2024. - Location: London
• 2. Community Paper: a group of MOXXI has recently completed a collaborative community paper titled
"Advancing Hydrological Monitoring Using Image-Based Techniques: Challenges and Opportunities." I want to
express my gratitude to all those who have been involved in this project. The paper will soon be available on
HSJ.
• 3. Advanced Hydrological Monitoring Course: I am happy to share that I have been contacted to lead a course
on "Advanced Hydrological Monitoring" for the IAHS Academy. This course, organized with the support of WMO
and UNESCO IHP, will take place at the National Water Research Center NWRC of Cairo from July 20th to 27th,
2024.

3. Advanced Hydrological Monitoring Course
• The course on "Advanced Hydrological Monitoring" for the
IAHS Academy. This course, organized with the support of
WMO and UNESCO IHP, will take place at the National Water

The course will be focused on river monitoring with image
processing, and I would like to explore if there are members
that may be interested in contributing to these training
activities

4. BIP: Advanced Technologies for
Hydrological Monitoring
• A Similar Course on "Advanced Technologies for Hydrological
Monitoring" will be organized in Naples within the framework of the
Blended Intensive Programme.
• EU students can participate with the support of Erasmus+ program.

Future Initiatives
• Promote an Award for the best innovation in hydrological monitoring advance
on HSJ
• Promote MOXXI Meeting or Workshop
• Link MOXXI with UNESCO FRIEND-Water. Suggested by Stephan Dietrich
• In 2027 FRIEND-water will organize the 10th International Conference after
2018 in Beijing and last year in Dakar. The next one will be held in Paris at
UNESCO headquarters. Suggested by Stephan Dietrich
• Potential workshop in Roorkee within or back to the IAHS 2025 assembly
(Jean-Marie Onema and Christophe CUDENNEC)
