1. Assalamualaikum and a very Good Evening to the most respected lecturer, Dr
Mazura and all my friends. Today, I would like to talk about the topic which has been
given to me, entitled ‘Criteria of An Ideal Teacher. According to Free Online
Dictionary by Farlex, the definition of ‘ideal’ refers to a conception of something in
its absolute perfection or the one that is regarded as a standard or model of
perfection or excellence. And, ‘ teacher’ refers to a person or thing that teaches
something especially a person whose job is to teach students about certain subjects.
By looking up the definition of both words, we could say that an ideal teacher is a
person who performs or displays self confidence in delivering all the good and
excellent qualities or characters towards the students which are able to motivate the
students as well.
In order to be an ideal teacher, it is not an easy task for us as the teachers to do so.
And, basically, not all the people are born to be a teacher and it is something which
can not be described generally. There are two types of teachers, the first one is born
to be a teacher and the second one is learn to be a teacher. For those who were
born to be a teacher are mostly having the good qualities of an ideal teacher but for
those who were not born to be a teacher keep on trying to instil the spirit and good
qualities or criteria of an ideal teacher. But, generally, the categories of these two
teachers are not so important as long they are able to learn and adapt in the process
of being an ideal teacher as well.
I would like to tell and explain about the criteria that an ideal teacher should have.
Firstly, the teacher should love what they do in any areas of his or her job. They
need to know and practice that teaching is not for money only but it is for the
satisfaction of bringing up a clear future of the students. It is something that related
to the passion of teaching too which is sometimes it can be retrieved just after
teaching for a long time.
Secondly, an ideal teacher also should have the qualities of being fair towards the
students. This attitude is showing the important of equality to all the students without
being bias to certain ethnics, abilities, physical appearance and so on. This is how
the teacher can tackle the students’ interest or attention toward the lesson because
the students are already impress and admire of the teacher.
Other than that, leadership is important for a teacher to ensure that the students can
listen and obey to what they have been instructed in the classroom. It is not the
same with bossy. According to wiktionary, it is defined as tending to give orders to
others and it is synonym with dictatorial commanding which is not good to have a
healthy lesson with the students. Actually, leadership itself is good to highlight the
teacher’s instructions and manage to build up the students’ self discipline in the
classroom.
Lastly, a teacher should be knowledgeable and competent in his or her areas of job.
This is because, a teacher is highly assumed as the role model of other people in the

2. world. In my opinion, a teacher sometimes is accepted as the students’ idol of doing
anything such as being hardworking and intelligent in order to follow the teacher’s
progression as well.
As conclusion, I would sum up that an ideal teacher is giving a very good influent to
the students in order to generate or produce a good generation of people in the
world. That is all about the criteria of an ideal teacher from me. Thank you.
