Everyday I hear Scrum Masters asking what they can do to improve their skills. Despite there is a lot of knowledge available today, they are struggling with getting valuable hints. Since I started my Scrum Master journey years ago I’ve tried plenty of approaches to speed up my growth — with various results. Some things didn’t worked at all, some were just fine, but some exceeded my expectations a lot and accelerated my growth as a Scrum Master exponentially. Many of my decisions put me out of my comfort zone, but from today’s perspective it was definitely worth it. During my talk I will share top things that worked for me and also for Scrum Masters which I support on daily basis as an Agile Coach.

This workshop is designed for anyone on an AJAX project team. We'll examine common challenges—such as the back-button issue, bookmarking, and deep linking—and discuss solutions. We'll then move on to accessibility issues and how to address them in Ajax user interfaces. In addition, we'll look at common user interface patterns that can quickly model and design rich Internet applications and increase the usability of your web applications. The trainers demonstrate some of the more advanced features in Ajax, such as offline options, push Ajax, and integrating Ajax with other client-side and server-side technologies, such as Flash and Java.

Web Usability in the Enterprise with AjaxAndreCharland
How has a richer web changed attitudes toward usability? What are the quick wins and potential savings for enterprises pursuing usable software? The fact that improving usability and user experience is good for business should be common sense, but it’s not!
Andre Charland will discuss some ways of measuring ROI with usability. Why should business users care about AJAX and how can rich web applications translate to dollars and cents? The session will demonstrate ways to create a financial argument for building richer web applications, and how that can be used to advocate for AJAX-based development. These benefits can come from cost savings, creation of a competitive advantage through user-experience, and improved workflow through more ergonomic software. Then we’ll discuss 3 areas of concern with respect to AJAX, including a cross-browser solution to the back-button problem, techniques for ensuring high-performance on slow connections, and how to conduct low-cost and high-value usability testing of web applications.
The session will conclude with a discussion about how to use user interface patterns to organize and communicate to other stakeholders in the organization. The goal of this presentation is to arm managers and developers alike with tools and techniques to design and gauge the success of their AJAX development project.
