Nicotine Cell Proliferation And Invasion
Journal Assignment 2
Background
Purpose of the research
The purpose of this research is to show that nicotine induces cell proliferation and invasion as well as
epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), even though nicotine is not carcinogenic on its own.
These series of inductions of mechanisms lead to lung cancer as well as breast cancer and pancreatic
cancer.
Type of cells chosen for study
The lung cancer cells especially in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are the primary target cells for
this study. In addition to the lung cancer cells, the human breast cancer cells and pancreatic cancer
cells are selected for the study in order to compare and confirm the similar activities of the gene
expression and mechanism that induce these cancers.
Background of the topic
Nicotine is the primary component of tobacco products, which causes addiction and can eventually
lead to lung cancer through series of metabolic activities. (http://www.carcinogenesis.com/article.asp?
issn=1477 3163;year=2013;volume=12;issue=1;spage=1;epage=1;aulast=Warren ) Nicotine, which
results from cigarette smoking, is found to be the major cause of lung cancer. Non small cell lung
cancer (NSCLC) is referred to as a type of lung cancer that is associated with epithelial cells
(http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatment/non small cell lung/healthprofessional/page1 ).
The lung is covered by layers of epithelial cells connected with junctions that provide the function of
transporting and secreting

Cause Of Death In Romeo And Juliet
Death is extremely unfortunate. It greatly impacts the loved ones of the victim and can cause
tremendous emotional damage to people. However, death is a symptom, whether it is a natural death
from old age or an untimely death from accidents and mistakes. While death cannot always be
prevented, its cause may be analysed to obtain new information or knowledge to prevent additionally
casualties. This is especially true of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet in William Shakespeare s play
Romeo and Juliet. Set in the renaissance era, the young lovers Romeo and Juliet from opposing
families pursuit a secret and forbidden love amidst the chaos of the family feud in Verona. Their love
was difficult and the lovers ultimately take their owns lives due to ... Show more content on

In addition, Lord Capulet failed to stop Tybalt s rage and was too forceful to Juliet. Firstly, the feud
between the Montagues and Capulets contributed to the deaths of the lovers. This is seen when the
chorus states in the prologue, Two households, both alike in dignity... From ancient grudge break to
new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands clean (I, Prologue, 1 4). This refers to the long
standing feud between the Montagues and Capulets, which is the primary source of conflict in the
play. This feud between the families resulted in the love between Romeo and Juliet to be forbidden,
which caused great difficulty for the lovers. Therefore, if the parents would forgive the other family
and end the feud, Romeo and Juliet would have likely been able to safely fall in love and marry,
perhaps their love would even be encouraged, thus avoid their unnecessary deaths. Secondly, Lord
Capulet failed to contain Tybalt s anger, which eventually led to Romeo s banishment, causing
complications and the lover s deaths. During the Capulet party, Tybalt had discovered that Romeo
attended uninvited, as a result, Tybalt was furious and intended to slay Romeo, but Lord Capulet
intervened and stopped Tybalt. However, Lord Capulet failed to prevent Tybalt from issuing his
challenge the next day, leading to the death of Tybalt and the banishment of Romeo. Due to Lord
Capulet s failure to prevent Tybalt s violent outburst, a series of events was set in motion: where
Tybalt killed Mercutio, and in a rage, Romeo slew Tybalt, resulting in his banishment. This was a
contributing factor in the deaths of the lovers, as Romeo s banishment presented obstacles to the
transfer of information, leading to the lovers suicides. Lastly, Lord Capulet forcing Juliet to marry
Paris was another factor contributing to Romeo and Juliet s deaths. Without

This is evidence that online shopping is affecting the viability of physical storefronts to stay in
business. Identify the main problems and offer solution. There are a growing number of people
choosing online shopping and this growing trend has emerged all over the world over the last few
decades. Online shopping cuts a lot of hassle and stress out of going to the store but also has a
possibility of charging more so people are more and more interested meanwhile many would argue
that it is an easy alternative to leaving the house and going to the mall. Online shopping is making
things much easier in terms of time. The only thing you have to do is go to the ... Show more content

So storefronts can do the shipping for free then people will turn to more interested. For example, a
customer went shopping to a mall and saw a hat afterwards he wants to buy he can order by making a
call to the shop. It is very comfortable and the customer can trust the store because he already saw the
hat. But with online shopping people never see the product before so they can not trust that the
product is the same one in the website or not. In this strategy, storefronts can attack online shopping
on the point that people can buy things from their home or everywhere they want.
Secondly, Storefront businesses should open more branch shops because it is easy for customers to go
to the shop nearest their home and they will see the real product after which they can make a decision
to buy it. The weakness of online shopping is that you have to be really careful in choosing the site
from which you want to buy the things you need. Some sites just lose your money and will not give
you anything. Another problem is the quality of the things you get. For instance, if you order food and
you get an old or bad item you are able to send it back but you will not get anything for that. However,
if the things you are looking for are not far away from your house it must be easier and better to buy
from the shop than the internet because you do not have to wait for

King Lear And Oedipus The King Essay
Lear and Oedipus both possess a high sense of nobility and goodness, which are very important
characteristics to have in a king. In the first act, King Lear wants to divide his kingdom in three
amongst his daughters. He says: We have this hour a constant will to publish/ Our daughters several
dowers, that future strife/May be prevented now. (Shakespeare, 1.1.46 48) He wants to provide for his
daughters as well as avoid any future conflict that could happen between them. Although he meant
well, this plan backfires. After Lear divides his kingdom, and thus losing his power, all the good
characters stand by him even when he has nothing. Despite everything Lear has done to other
characters, the Fool, Kent, and Cordelia do what they can to help him; even though Lear banishes
Cordelia, she still wants to help him get out of the country, as she loves her father and she knows ...

The same situation goes for Kent, despite being banished he returns to serve his King because he is
loyal and deeply cares for the King. Kent says: If but as well I other accents borrow That can my
speech defuse, my good intent May carry through itself to that full issue For which I razed my
likeness. Now, banished Kent, If thou canst serve where thou dost stand condemned, So may it come
thy master, whom thou lov st, Shall find thee full of labors. (Shakespeare, 1.4.1 8) Kent knows the
King s actions were rash and knows bad things will happen when he is not around, and thus he decides
to return. This is significant since if Lear was not a good king and treated everyone unkindly, they
would have left when Lear lost everything or they would have never risked their lives to come back
after their banishment. Despite Lear s flaws, he has many good personality traits and the good

`` No One Can Serve Two Masters ``
We live in a world where a person s success is measured by how much money they have or by the
amount of possessions they own. God, however, calls us to live a different lifestyle. Matthew 6:24
says No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be
devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Nevertheless, God
also wants us to be frugal with our money so that we can bless others with our excess. On My Own
Two Feet gives some practical advice on how to get out of debt. The goal of this book is to help
people understand how they can live well today and also being able to save for future needs. Some of
the main idea of the book is to start saving now to have an emergency fund, to be able to pay for high
priced items and to ensure a stable retirement. It is not until after the personal finances are controlled
can people really give generously and serve God with their money. Deciding how much to spend and
how much to save can be difficult. On My Own Two Feet breaks down a gross income and shows
what percentage of the income should be spent in several different categories. The first, and the
biggest, category is what they call the foundation expenses (pg. 68). This includes all the stuff that is a
basic need, such as food, shelter and transportation. Because these are all necessitates in life, 45
percent of an income is devoted to paying for them. The next biggest category is income taxes.

Abstract Social Engineering from the outset may seem like a topic one might hear when talking about
sociology or psychology, when in fact it is a form of identity theft. To an information technology (IT)
professional, Social Engineering is a form of voluntary, unintentional identity theft. Many victims fail

computers solely by using passwords and codes acquired as a result of social engineering. As a result,
Mitnick was restricted from using any forms of technology upon his release from prison until
approximately 5 years ago. Kevin Mitnick is now the CEO of Mitnick Security Consulting, a

level as a vital corporate security initiative. Security experts advise that a properly trained staff, not
technology is the best asset against social engineering attacks on sensitive information. The
importance placed upon security policies is imperative when attempting to combat this type of attack.
Combat strategies require action on both physical and psychological levels. This form appeals to
hackers because the Internet is so widely used and it evades all intrusion detection systems. Social

Double Standards In Jane Martin s Beauty
Double Standard (Working Title) Beauty a small word containing only six letters, but one that beholds
the power of substantial external and internal impacts. Beauty is it strictly an outward appearance, a

astute was not viewed as a quality attribute, or had little to no value to the person in possession of this

Violence And Hate Crime And Violence Through Intercultural...
Violence and hate crimes are frequent in the United States and have become a major issue for many
people. Violence comes in many different forms such as domestic, societal, and individual. Violence is
the main cause of distress and has the power to tear families apart. As a result, the newer generation of
kids are left to deal with insecurity, inequality, and injustice. In order to ensure that people carry out
the proper approach to violence, professionals and even every day individuals must be trained through
education or forums on how to manage these issues. The purpose of this paper is to provide an
intercultural approach to reduce the violence and the suffering that many communities face. This
paper provides an intervention to hate crime and violence through intercultural praxis, education, and
socially responsible actions. Social violence or crimes involves people from different cultures and
their diversity lead to emergence of superiority and inferiority (In Sorrells In Sekimoto, 2015).
Cultural groups that are seen as inferior are looked down upon by superior cultures which then creates
a rivalry. To end this violence, education and awareness must be the key first and foremost, then
intercultural praxis and social responsibilities will help to an extent. The main focus will be on the
historical ideas, concepts and theories that explain the creation of social violence as well as hate
crime. Many factors contribute to social violence, while some of them come from

Deficits are financed by borrowings that itself increase the debt. If the ratio debt to GDP gets too high,
investors will worry that the government will either default on this debt or will devaluate by
monetising its debt and in this way engineer a high inflation rate. According to the Maastricht Treaty,
the EU countries should not have a budget deficit higher than 3% of the GDP and a debt higher than
60% of the GDP.
I.2.Overview the budget deficit in Viet Nam for the latest 5 years
Macroeconomic Report 2012 titled from macroeconomic instability to restructuring released by the
National Assembly s Economic Committee announced that Vietnam s state budget deficit and public
debts have increased rapidly.
The report (Figure 1 Annex) pointed out that the country has suffered constantly increasing the state
budget deficit for more than a decade. Particularly, the average state budget deficit (excluding
repayments for Vietnam s original debts) in the 2003 2007 period was only 1.3 percent of GDP, but
this figure had more than doubled to 2.7 percent of GDP in the 2008 2012 period.
Especially in recent years, ongoing budget deficits have led to the rapid growth of public debt.
Vietnam s total public debts have increased from about 40 percent of GDP in late 2007 to 57 percent
of GDP at the end of 2010 and only declined slightly in 2011. At the same time, Vietnam s foreign
debts have surged

Representation Of Chang E In Chinese Culture
Chang e is thought very highly of in the eyes of the Chinese. They reflect her ways of peace and
gentleness in their culture. They use her image in their culture often. An example would be how they
name their moon launchings after her. In Chinese minds, the moon is associated with gentleness and
brightness, expressing the beautiful yearnings of the Chinese. (Cultural China) The people in China
see Chang e in the same way they see the moon, peaceful, gentle, and bright. She is very important
and brings joy to the Chinese people. This leads me to believe that the tales in which Chang e is
portrayed as a thief are not an accurate representation of her.

Visual Art Plan By Otto Dix And James Gleeson
Visual art Plan
Artists all around the world have used metaphor in their pieces of work to convey meaning. A figure
of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally
applicable. Most if not all pieces of art you can see in a museum or out on the street have remanets of
metaphor beneath them. Artists use metaphor in their work to tell a story or a time period or in this
case meaning. As the old saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words. The artist distorts the image
to the way he or she wants to see it or would want others to see it. For example, Otto Dix and James
Gleeson are artists that are known for having and using metaphor and spirituality in their pieces of

Otto Dix was a great artist. His paintings were very strong with spirituality and metaphor this was
because he served in the first world war. Many of his paintings were of the first wold war because Dix
volunteered and became a machine gunner which exposed him to see death daily. Through his
experiences in the war he gained a lot of knowledge and saw a lot of things. One of his pieces stood
out to me the most. That piece was the wounded soldier. In this picture I can see a muddy ground with
blood splattered everywhere. The ground and the soldier almost looks like he is decaying. The soldiers
face has an expression of confusion and elements of fear across him. Given his mouth is wide open it
looks like he is in enormous amounts of pain and looks like he is screaming. This could be the face of
a person going through their last seconds before they die or get shot. His hand is squeezing his heart
like he got shot in the area. His helmet seems to be dirty and bloody as almost like he has been here
for a long time.
The work has been put together very well according to the elements and principles of art. The lines in
the art work are very bold and revealing. The lines are clearly outlining the wounded soldier and what
is movements and actions are at the current time of him being painted. The colour of this art work is in
black and white but even though it is in black and white Dix has done a good job of telling us what

CHAPTER I BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Introduction Historically, the term guidance has
been used in the field of education to designate the assistance given to students in the solution of
problems that lay outside the area of classroom teaching situations. For instance, ever since the first
decade of the present century, guidance has meant, to a large extent, the guidance of students in the
area of vocational problems. By about 1925, a growing number of colleges and universities were
providing guidance services for their students. These activities were more commonly referred to as

confident Army of Northern Virginia no longer predicted a quick end of the war. The soldiers echoed
an uncertainty for when the war would end while expressing a desire for it to be soon. Power depicts a
descriptive picture of the life of the soldier by referencing the numerous hardships including extended
periods in the trenches as well as long periods without fresh clothes. Many of the soldiers complained
of having tattered and worn down clothing and expressed strong desires for new clothing. Power
further captures their desire by noting opinion of the inspector general of the army who believed that
the small rations and inadequate supply of clothing is doubtless promoting desertion among the men
(224). Perhaps one of the must detrimental occurrences in the Army of Northern Virginia was the act
of desertion. As the siege of Petersburg and Richmond extended into the winter of 1864 and 1865 the
physical hardships, re election of Lincoln, as well as news of Sherman s march caused many soldiers
to desert. The combination of these discouraging events led to desertion rates of up

Adela Strangeworth In The Possibility Of Evil By Shirley...
Normally, when people see an old lady she is nice, caring, wise and sweet. However, the townsfolk
don t know all those layers of personality she hides behind those gentle eyes: She is proud, controlling
and secretive. Adela Strangeworth is the protagonist of The Possibility of Evil by Shirley Jackson. But
she is not a stereotypical grandma; she conceals a secret identity of an anonymous bully, who sends
letters to families she think she is helping by protecting her little town from evil.
Miss Strangeworth is very proud of herself and her family. She believes that her grandpa should have
a statue in the middle of the town to honour him and she insists on being called Miss Strangeworth
instead of Adela. She s extremely proud the her little house on Pleasant Street and her rose garden.
This house, right here, my family has lived here for better than a hundred years, my grandmother
planted those roses , and my mother, just as I do (Jackson,1941, p.163). Her rose garden is her pride
and jewel. She believes her roses are so sacred, she will not give any to the church for ceremonies.
Thats just shows how proud she is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ceruloplasmin
Ceruloplasmin is a serum ferroxidase that carries more than 90 % of copper in plasma and plays an
important role in iron homeostasis as well as antioxidative functions [105]. Ceruloplasmin best known
as copper binding protein, found in the plasma of vertebrate species, and is mainly synthesized by the
liver [106]. After ceruloplasmin was originally isolated from plasma by Holmberg and Laurell [107],
this protein quickly became the subject of many investigations concerning its function, molecular
structure and the physical properties of the copper ions bound to it [106, 108 111]. The ceruloplasmin
gene was identified on the human 3q25 chromosome with a molecular weight of ~132 kDa [112]. The
molecule is composed of six compact domains, with large loop insertions, and is characterized by the
presence of three types of spectroscopically distinct copper sites. ... Show more content on

The ceruloplasmin protein contains more than 90% of copper in the plasma, but rather than strictly
functioning in copper metabolism, its main function appears to be a modulator of iron efflux via
oxidation [106, 108, 109]. Ceruloplasmin has been known to possess ferroxidase activity, the ability to
oxidize ferrous to ferric iron. This activity is required for its function in iron homeostasis and is
thought to reduce oxidative stress by inhibition of the Fenton reaction which uses Fe2+ to generate
reactive oxygen species (ROS) [106, 110]. Ceruloplasmin has also been demonstrated to function as
an acute phase protein activated by the host immune system during stress conditions

The Cruelty Of Masters Toward Slaves
The Cruelty of Masters toward Slaves During the nineteenth century, masters would mistreat their
slaves. Some examples of this misconduct would be whippings, a lack of food, a lack of clothing, and
malicious language directed at the slave. The injuries that the slaves would receive could never heal
because before the wounds could heal, they would be beaten again. Frederick Douglass, a slave during
the 1800s, in his autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave, he
strives to persuade Americans to realize that slaves were treated brutally by their masters no matter if
their masters were male or female, rich or poor, or religious or nonreligious. Slaveholders, masters,
and overseers, both male and female, acted savagely toward their slaves. Frederick Douglass
(1845/1995) in his autobiography Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, writes about when the
overseer Mr. Gore shot a slave named Demby because Demby was trying to relieve some of the pain
in his back from receiving a scourging by jumping into a creek (p. 14). No compassion is shown to the
slaves by Mr. Gore. Douglass (1845/1995) tells of two females who also treated slaves brutally. Mrs.
Hamilton hardly ever let an hour go by when her two slave girls, Henrietta and Mary, were not
whipped (p. 21). The perpetual whippings caused constant festering sores on the girls head, neck, and
shoulders (p. 21). In addition to the oppression the girls under Mrs. Hamilton s care faced, they

A Formal Analysis of Potential Career Choices
A Formal Analysis Of Potential Career Choices
Introduction A formal analysis of the characteristics and outlook for two possible career choices
Policeman vs. Lawyer is a valuable tool in the decision making process used by an employment
candidate to make a successful selection between them. New entrants into the job market face a very
competitive environment and training (or re training) for jobs is frequently expensive and time
consuming. Therefore there is a definite need to make one s career decisions using a comprehensive,
formal analysis in order to promote a successful and satisfying career choice. Background information
was gathered by a search of peer reviewed articles from governmental and professional journal
sources in the literature. These articles provided several important variables to be considered in the
methodology, including: (a) candidate gender; (b) candidate ethnicity; (c) educational level; (d)
physical demands; (e) mental/analytical demands; (f) pathways to advancement; and (g) employment
outlook. These decision variables are identified for each potential career choice and then compared
and contrasted between the career options. A conclusion is then reached as to a recommended best fit
option relative to a candidate s career goals and interests.

An Exploration Of Budgeting And Forecasting
Summary
This paper will be an exploration of budgeting and forecasting and how they are determined and why
they need to be re evaluated at the organization I work for. Furthermore, the hope is to uncover some
of the underlining causes that are the drivers that trigger the re evaluations in our organization as well
as discover ways to mitigate those factors.
Background
Like any other business we need to lower our costs, we apparently have difficulties creating a realistic
budget, at least initially, and also have great difficulties with accurately forecasting. Are budgeting
problems for new products could be due to the fact that prospective costs on new parts take a while to
get properly entered into the system, combine that fact with a 12 month projection, times the number
of parts missing cost information from our budget document and there will be quite a difference in
actual costs at the end. By using a bill of materials for as a guide for new products, items with over $5
per item actually cost difference can be off by as much as 80% overall.
We are not any better at forecasting or predicting are sales revenue. It is not as conservative as it
should be, we may be taking only the optimistic view or we do not have a good understanding of our
place it the market. I m not sure what s driving it. However, I do not know that we buy inventory,
ramp up staffing, add plants, and equipment solely based on these projections, so we need to do this
much better. Also, by using a bill of

Bourdieu s Theory of Cultural Capital
Bourdieu s theory of cultural capital has been extremely influential, and has garnered a great deal of
literature, both theoretical and empirical. Like Marx, Bourdieu posited that capital was the foundation
of social life and dictated people s position within the social hierarchy (Bourdieu 1986). According to
Bourdieu, the more capital one possesses, the more prestigious a position one occupies in social life
(Bourdieu 1986). In addition to that, Bourdieu extended Marx s idea of capital beyond the economic
and into cultural symbolism (Bourdieu 1986). Bourdieu s concept of cultural capital that refers to the
collection of symbolic elements (e.g. skills, tastes, clothing) one acquires through being part of a
particular social niche and his concept of habitus that refers to the physical manifestation of cultural
capital owned by individuals due to life experiences are his major influential concepts that are very
useful in deconstructing power in development and social change processes. However it must be
recognized that these concepts also propagate social inequalities at the same time. This essay will
closely examine his concepts of capital that comes in three forms embodied, objectified, and
institutionalised, and habitus in the fields of education and stratification have made of it. Bourdieu s
work will be analysed in the context both of the debate on class inequalities in educational attainment
and of class reproduction in advanced capitalist societies. An important

Tim O Brien s How To Tell A True War Story
The Things They Carried is a book written by Tim O Brien. It features many different stories from
many different people who fought or participated in the Vietnam War. There are two particular stories,
How to Tell a True War Story and Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, that stand out because they use
surrealism. Surrealism is the word to describe what most people may perceive as unreal . These stories
use surrealism by creating elements in the story that almost sound impossible, but the author insists
that they are true. Throughout the story, we are constantly asking what is real and not real. But, if we
use examples from the book, it may be easier to define what is real and unreal.
How to Tell a True War Story is one of these two stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They both follow the rules of a true war story, not having morals and not being an uplifting story, and
they sound almost believable. Yet, another rule of telling a true war story is that the story must be
unbelievable in order for it to be true. So, going by this logic, the stories in How to Tell a True War
Story must all be untrue or greatly exaggerated, and the Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong is mostly
true. The reason for why How to Tell a True War Story is not true is because that many of the stories,
including the story of Curt Lemon and the signing mountains, are just too believable to be true war
stories. Neither of them have a moral, one of the rules for a TRUE war story is that they must sound
unbelievable, and these two stories are much too normal for them to be a true war story. Although the
stories in the chapter How to Tell a True War Story may not be completely true, they could be a
collection of exaggerated stories that the author Tim O Brien heard about while he was in Vietnam.
Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong on the other hand, has all the elements of a true war story . It does
not have an easily discernible moral, isn t uplifting, nor suggest model of proper human behavior, and
is crazy enough to be true. Although some parts may be exaggerated for effect. For example, the
leopard head in the Greenie s hut. It can easily agreed upon that this story may be an actual war

The Importance Of The Electoral College
The United States is considered the leader in promoting democratic values worldwide. For this very
reason, the United States has engaged in conflicts and negotiations around the world to allow the
people of different countries the ability to freely and directly elect their leaders. However, the United
States remains the only democratic country in the world that does not allow the people to directly elect
their President. Instead, the United States opts for the undemocratic institution of the Electoral
College, in which electors from each state are chosen and these electors are the actual people that cast
the votes that decide the presidential election. The Founders set up a system in Article II Section I of
the Constitution that guarantees, each state shall appoint... a Number of Electors, equal to the whole
Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress, and that,
the Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be President, if such Number be a Majority of
the Number of Electors appointed (Constitution). This outdated system of electing the leader of the
free world should be abolished in favor of a direct popular vote in which the winner must receive at
least 40% of the vote. If 40% is not reached, a runoff election between the top two vote getters will be
held a month after the November election to determine who becomes the President. The system of a
popular vote would make sure all voices are heard and that the people

The Importance Of The Arts At School
Importance of the Arts in School
People often view artistic activities as a leisure activity, so though they may agree it is a nice thing to
have, they may not think it is essential to a person s life. It is the same for schools, with tight budgets,
art is usually the first subject cut from a student s learning experience because it is not viewed as a
priority. However, with all of the academic benefits students can gain from being involved in any type
of art subject, it is important that schools allow students an easy access to art. By making art programs
more prominent, schools would be offering students a chance to improve academic performance,
increase happiness, and open up minds.
Though art is mostly viewed as a hobby, it benefits children academically. One way art helps academic
performance is by strengthening students brains. The principal of Lyons Elementary School explained
the Opening Minds through Art program (OMA) helped teach children concepts through art that
would later help them learn more in different subjects (Smith). Art can improve students
understanding of learning concepts, which will help them in different subjects in the future. artistic
activities engage senses and make neural connections in the brain. The more neural pathways created
and the stronger the become, the easier it becomes for the brain to take in new information. With a
stronger brain and mental capacity, students performance in school with improve. Academically, art is

Seven! shouted the teacher. Or did he shout Four ? I shrank down in my seat. Math class was an
absolute nightmare. The teacher scared me so much that my hands got sweaty, and my fingers slipped

The trouble was that I was going to a school where the teacher spoke a different dialect. I grew up
with Mandarin, the dialect spoken by the majority of the Chinese. When the eastern part of China was
occupied by the Japanese, our family moved inland, to a region where I could barely understand the
local dialect. Writing was pretty much the same in any dialect, so in language and history classes I
didn t have trouble with what was on the blackboard. My problems started in the math class, where we
had to learn the abacus. Before the days of the calculator, the abacus was the main tool for adding and
multiplying. It still is, in many parts of China (as well as in countries like Japan and Russia). The
abacus teacher would shout out the numbers he wanted us to add or multiply. My ears didn t always

Impacted Wisdom Teeth
Your third molars, aka wisdom teeth, develop in your late teens, but are so far back in your mouth that
they often cannot erupt properly. This is so common that the American Academy of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons says that 90 percent of people have at least one wisdom tooth that is impacted.
Dentists frequently recommend their removal because they can become infected, cause gum problems
or damage neighboring teeth.
While millions of people have their wisdom teeth extracted each year, the Academy of General
Dentistry explains that even though these are more difficult extractions, most everyone heals without
problems and is back in commission within a few days. However, one common complication that can
extend your recovery time is a dry socket.
A dry socket comes about when the blood clot, beginning to form in the area of the extraction,
becomes dislodged or dissolves, leaving bone and nerve endings exposed. This is a painful condition
that your oral surgeon will need to treat right

Serial Killers Vs Serial Killers
There are many different people in the United States. Many people follow the rules and regulations
that were implemented through the laws of being an American citizen, but there are many people who
do not follow these laws and regulations. People such as the horrid serial killers that live among us
and some even living incarcerated in prisons all across the country. A serial killer is described as a
person who murders three or more people in a period of over a month, with cooling down time
between murders (Serial Killers Vs. Mass Murderers). One question being; were killers born with a
sense of killing, or did they learn how to become killers over time? Many speculations come from all
different kinds of people, but are serial killers born the way they are?
One side of this argument is that all serial killers are raised in such a manner that causes them to
commit murders. Donald Henry Gaskins is one serial killer that many believe committed his crimes
based on the way his family raised him. Gaskins mother Eulea Parrott otherwise known as Molly got
pregnant at the age of fourteen when she has sex with Mr. Gaskins, a wealthy, well known neighbor of
Molly, who loved to gamble and drink... he paid Molly $1 for sex several times a week (Donald Henry

Project Management Training Program Project
Project Management Training Project management has been defined as the process that involves the
application of different processes, methods, knowledge, experience and skills for purposes of
achieving the objectives of the project. On the other hand, a project is always defined as a unique and
a transient endeavor that is undertaken to achieve an organization s planned goals that could be
defined on the basis of outputs and benefits. The process of managing a project entails the
development of an effective project plan, a process that entails the definition as well as the
confirmation of the project goals and objectives. The plan also gives a clear outline of how the project
objectives will be achieved, identification of the tasks as well as the quantification of all the needed
resources. The plan also plays an important role in developing an appropriate budget for the project as
well as the most appropriate timeline that will be taken to complete the project being carried out. The
process of project management also includes a statement of the most effective ways of implementing
the project plan along with the best controls that will ensure that the objectives of the organization are
met effectively and efficiently. It is thus important for organizations to have effective project

They tell them the decisions they make will guide how they live. From the time their children are
teenagers through the time they finish high school they start learning how to make choices in life.
Children start thinking about what they want to be, a doctor, nurse or a police. What college we want
to attend or what trade school do we want to attend. Next we start thinking about where we want to
work when we finish school, a hospital, private company, or even a bank. Later, we may start thinking
about whether we want to have a family or we may already have a family and need to know how we
are only to take care of our family. These are choices we will make but none of them will be honorable

Concept Of Attitudes On Attitudes
Concept of Attitudes
In literature there are several definitions of attitude. According to Legendre (LaFortune Saint Pierre,
2001, pp. 30 31) an attitude is a state of spirit, an inner disposition acquired in relation to himself or to
the whole element of the surrounding environment that incites a way of being or acting, favorable or
unfavorable . For Morissette and Gingras (1999) an attitude is an inner disposition of the person that
translates into moderate emotional reactions that are assimilated and then tested whenever the person
is placed before an object; These emotional reactions lead her to approach the object (to be favorable)
or to depart (be unfavorable) .

The most widely used models for the study of attitude are the Model Classical Tripartite Attitude
(CAB Model), the Classical One Dimensional Model of Attitude and the Model Attitude coated
Tripartite according to Neto (1998). Attitude is composed of cognition, affection and behavior, these
elements being the most diversified order.
Since attitude is a set of multidimensional variables, and taking into account the traditional approach
made by Rosenberg and Hovland (1960), which proposes to analyze the three components separately,
so that they can be operationalized. These variable are constituted by the affective component of an
attitude refers to the subjective feelings and the physiological responses that accompany an attitude.
The cognitive component refers to the beliefs and opinions through which the attitude is expressed,
even though they are not always aware. The behavioral component concerns the mental and physical
process that prepares the individual to act in a certain way. (Neto, 1998).
Studies by Brewer Crano (1994) and Olson Zanna (1993), draw the following rationale for the three
components. The affective component of attitudes refers to the way a particular stimulus triggers
affective reactions, regardless of the information has on it, and some symbolic attitudes concerning
ideological contents. However, most attitudes are cognitive information dependent on the conjugation
of existing beliefs, that is, on how the individual associates objects

the prophet of the watchtower, he was one of the last prophets to write before the Babylonian
captivity. Habakkuk was not written to prophecy to Judah or Israel about their destruction, but was
written as if to God, with Habakkuk asking Him questions. Among the complaints and questions that
Habakkuk brings to God, the most prevalent is this: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, God s punishment for the Chaldeans is coming, as we see. Woe to him who covets evil gain
for his house...for the stone will cry out from the wall, and the beam from the timbers will answer it .
Covetousness is a major problem for most men, back in that time as well as today, but seeking to gain
things through evil and wicked methods is even worse. The Chaldeans seek to expand their kingdom
through evil methods and wicked actions, and yet the things that they have gained are not to last.
Eventually their kingdom will crumble, and they will cease to be a mighty nation. Woe to him who
builds a town with bloodshed...for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of The
Lord, as the waters cover the sea. The saying He who lives by the sword, will die by the sword. comes
to mind right now as we see that because the Chaldeans build themselves up with bloodshed and
murder, the whole world will witness the glory of The Lord, and will see His power brought against
them. They are an unnecessarily bloody nation, and because of this, I guess you could say they they
will soon become an even more bloody nation as they face the wrath of God. Woe to him who says to
wood, Awake! to silent stone Arise! It shall teach! behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, yet in it
there is no breath at all. But The Lord is in His holy temple. Let all

Balance Of Power In International Relations
Balance of power is a key concept in international relations. There are many different arguments about
this concept that disagree on whether or not it causes or disrupts peace in the world. Two main
arguments include those made by realists and liberals. While realist theory holds that a balance
between the major powers will create peace, liberals point to many examples in which this isn t true.
There have been many shifts in world power since the first world war that can serve as examples of
peace compared to types of power in the international system. While no theory may be completely
right, examples from the past century or so seem to prove that liberalism has the most accurate
explanation of balance of power and how it relates to peace in the world through democracy, norms,
and institutions. Because of this, states should not follow the advice to balance against power, but
instead seek peace in different ways such as democratization to maintain democratic peace. As I stated
earlier, balance of power is a very important concept in international relations. It is a realist theory that
can be defined as an arrangement in which capabilities are fairly evenly distributed among the major
actors (Kinsella 79). Basically, international stability exists when no major power dominates the
international system. A balance of power can exist in multipolar systems by alliances between major
powers, and in bipolar systems by two states matching each other s military capabilities.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Music Vs. Grease
Bollywood and American Musical
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Music by Jatin Lalit, Lalit Pandin vs Grease
Musical Score: Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey
Bollywood took the world by storm several years ago. Among the most viewed theater releases to
date, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge struck a fancy with many movie goers as a feel good feature
enticing them to Come...fall in love . Musically, Dilwale contains a nearly wall to wall score with
purposely written lyrics to help relay the story. Following the subtitles proved a bit daunting and the
lyrics did not always seem to fit with the musical notation, but there was definite expertise in moving
the story along with each number. Moreover, the cinematography allowed for indulgence in panoramic

Their brief two month encounter resulted in the same arousal of young love that ended when the
school bells beckoned. But, such as their counterparts in Dilwale, Sandy and Danny magically found
their way back to each other and the film allowed us to experience their journey with more of the same
type of buoyant, spirited music and dance as in the aforementioned film. Again, a nearly wall to wall
score included some original hits from the 50s helping to set the scene, as well as melodies written
especially for the movie in the same style, all of which helped to tell the story over the course of a
school year. Much to my bewilderment, when viewing Grease I found that the songs were also lip
synced and though the actual stars did their own singing, it too suffered in the technical department
plus the dancing fell short just as in Dilwale, without much syncopation between music and
movement. I did not notice this when I was 18? Much like Dilwale, there were a generous number of
original scores for Grease, including Greased Lighting by Barry Gibb, and a cameo by Frankie
Avalon, as well as the iconic Sha Na Na playing diegetic music at the school dance, all of which were
in the popular genre of the 50s. Just as we saw in Dilwale, the song repertoire had lyrics that moved
the dialogue along and helped to play out the difficulties of being in love at such a young age,
however, along that vein the stories were dissimilar due to the fact that in America, dating and falling
in love is part of a rite of passage as is choosing who we fall in love. With regard to the Indian culture,
even in the diasporas of today, it can be seen that many still cling to the notion that the father chooses
whom his daughter will wed. Both films incorporated dance numbers with similarities as well, and
even though the music was from different

The Influence of Protest Music during the 1960’s And...
The 1960 s was one of the most controversial decades in American history because of not only the
Vietnam War, but there was an outbreak of protests involving civil and social conditions all across
college campuses. These protests have been taken to the extent where people either have died or have
been seriously injured. However, during the 1960 s, America saw a popular form of art known as
protest music, which responded to the social turmoil of that era, from the civil rights movement to the
war in Vietnam. A veritable pantheon of musicians, such as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs,
Joan Baez, and Bob Dylan sang their songs to encourage union organizers to protest the inequities of
their time, creating a diverse variety of popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1960 s in America was often referred to as an age of protest because of not only the social protests
that have taken place, but also for the upbringing of protest music, which became very popular during
that era. The roots of protest music were largely from folk music of American musicians during 1950 .
Folk musicians, such as Joe Hill, composed labor union protest songs and distributed song booklets,
hoping to fan the flames of discontent. (Rodnitzky pg. 6) Symbolically, this meant that the songs, the
fan, would reduce the uncontrollable social protests that the United States government caused with the
misleading information that they did not keep their word on, or the flames of discontent. Other folk
musicians, such as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, traveled around the United States spreading their
message music and becoming involved in political movements. Guthrie and Seeger were the pioneers
of protest music, bringing their folk music to New York City and merging it with urban music. Woody
s songs were about the masses, often identifying problems and offering solutions. While Seeger was
cautious about referring to his music as folk music, preferring the term people s music, meaning that
not everyone may had the same thoughts, but they all expressed it in their own unique musical sense.
For both Woody and Seeger, folk music was a necessity in these protests, when the needs

Type of cells chosen for study The lung cancer cells especially in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are the primary target cells for this study. In addition to the lung cancer cells, the human breast cancer cells and pancreatic cancer cells are selected for the study in order to compare and confirm the similar activities of the gene expression and mechanism that induce these cancers. • 3. Cause Of Death In Romeo And Juliet Death is extremely unfortunate. It greatly impacts the loved ones of the victim and can cause tremendous emotional damage to people. However, death is a symptom, whether it is a natural death from old age or an untimely death from accidents and mistakes. While death cannot always be prevented, its cause may be analysed to obtain new information or knowledge to prevent additionally casualties. This is especially true of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet in William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet. Set in the renaissance era, the young lovers Romeo and Juliet from opposing families pursuit a secret and forbidden love amidst the chaos of the family feud in Verona. In addition, Lord Capulet failed to stop Tybalt s rage and was too forceful to Juliet. Firstly, the feud between the Montagues and Capulets contributed to the deaths of the lovers. This is seen when the chorus states in the prologue, Two households, both alike in dignity... From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands clean (I, Prologue, 1 4). This refers to the long standing feud between the Montagues and Capulets, which is the primary source of conflict in the play. This feud between the families resulted in the love between Romeo and Juliet to be forbidden, which caused great difficulty for the lovers. Therefore, if the parents would forgive the other family and end the feud, Romeo and Juliet would have likely been able to safely fall in love and marry, perhaps their love would even be encouraged, thus avoid their unnecessary deaths. Secondly, Lord Capulet failed to contain Tybalt s anger, which eventually led to Romeo s banishment, causing complications and the lover s deaths. During the Capulet party, Tybalt had discovered that Romeo attended uninvited, as a result, Tybalt was furious and intended to slay Romeo, but Lord Capulet intervened and stopped Tybalt. However, Lord Capulet failed to prevent Tybalt from issuing his challenge the next day, leading to the death of Tybalt and the banishment of Romeo. Due to Lord Capulet s failure to prevent Tybalt s violent outburst, a series of events was set in motion: where Tybalt killed Mercutio, and in a rage, Romeo slew Tybalt, resulting in his banishment. This was a contributing factor in the deaths of the lovers, as Romeo s banishment presented obstacles to the transfer of information, leading to the lovers suicides. Lastly, Lord Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Paris was another factor contributing to Romeo and Juliet s deaths. Without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Identify the main problems and offer solution. There are a growing number of people choosing online shopping and this growing trend has emerged all over the world over the last few decades. Online shopping cuts a lot of hassle and stress out of going to the store but also has a possibility of charging more so people are more and more interested meanwhile many would argue that it is an easy alternative to leaving the house and going to the mall. So storefronts can do the shipping for free then people will turn to more interested. For example, a customer went shopping to a mall and saw a hat afterwards he wants to buy he can order by making a call to the shop. It is very comfortable and the customer can trust the store because he already saw the hat. But with online shopping people never see the product before so they can not trust that the product is the same one in the website or not. In this strategy, storefronts can attack online shopping on the point that people can buy things from their home or everywhere they want. Secondly, Storefront businesses should open more branch shops because it is easy for customers to go to the shop nearest their home and they will see the real product after which they can make a decision to buy it. The weakness of online shopping is that you have to be really careful in choosing the site from which you want to buy the things you need. Some sites just lose your money and will not give you anything. Another problem is the quality of the things you get. For instance, if you order food and you get an old or bad item you are able to send it back but you will not get anything for that. However, if the things you are looking for are not far away from your house it must be easier and better to buy from the shop than the internet because you do not have to wait for ... Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Nevertheless, God also wants us to be frugal with our money so that we can bless others with our excess. On My Own Two Feet gives some practical advice on how to get out of debt. The goal of this book is to help people understand how they can live well today and also being able to save for future needs. Some of the main idea of the book is to start saving now to have an emergency fund, to be able to pay for high priced items and to ensure a stable retirement. It is not until after the personal finances are controlled can people really give generously and serve God with their money. Deciding how much to spend and how much to save can be difficult. The first, and the biggest, category is what they call the foundation expenses (pg. 68). This includes all the stuff that is a basic need, such as food, shelter and transportation. Power further captures their desire by noting opinion of the inspector general of the army who believed that the small rations and inadequate supply of clothing is doubtless promoting desertion among the men (224). Perhaps one of the must detrimental occurrences in the Army of Northern Virginia was the act of desertion. As the siege of Petersburg and Richmond extended into the winter of 1864 and 1865 the physical hardships, re election of Lincoln, as well as news of Sherman s march caused many soldiers to desert. Ceruloplasmin best known as copper binding protein, found in the plasma of vertebrate species, and is mainly synthesized by the liver [106]. After ceruloplasmin was originally isolated from plasma by Holmberg and Laurell [107], this protein quickly became the subject of many investigations concerning its function, molecular structure and the physical properties of the copper ions bound to it [106, 108 111]. The ceruloplasmin gene was identified on the human 3q25 chromosome with a molecular weight of ~132 kDa [112]. The molecule is composed of six compact domains, with large loop insertions, and is characterized by the presence of three types of spectroscopically distinct copper sites. ... The ceruloplasmin protein contains more than 90% of copper in the plasma, but rather than strictly functioning in copper metabolism, its main function appears to be a modulator of iron efflux via oxidation [106, 108, 109]. Ceruloplasmin has been known to possess ferroxidase activity, the ability to oxidize ferrous to ferric iron. This activity is required for its function in iron homeostasis and is thought to reduce oxidative stress by inhibition of the Fenton reaction which uses Fe2+ to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) [106, 110]. • 26. The Cruelty Of Masters Toward Slaves The Cruelty of Masters toward Slaves During the nineteenth century, masters would mistreat their slaves. Some examples of this misconduct would be whippings, a lack of food, a lack of clothing, and malicious language directed at the slave. The injuries that the slaves would receive could never heal because before the wounds could heal, they would be beaten again. Frederick Douglass, a slave during the 1800s, in his autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave, he strives to persuade Americans to realize that slaves were treated brutally by their masters no matter if their masters were male or female, rich or poor, or religious or nonreligious. Slaveholders, masters, and overseers, both male and female, acted savagely toward their slaves. Frederick Douglass (1845/1995) in his autobiography Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, writes about when the overseer Mr. Gore shot a slave named Demby because Demby was trying to relieve some of the pain in his back from receiving a scourging by jumping into a creek (p. 14). No compassion is shown to the slaves by Mr. Gore. Douglass (1845/1995) tells of two females who also treated slaves brutally. Mrs. Hamilton hardly ever let an hour go by when her two slave girls, Henrietta and Mary, were not whipped (p. 21). A Formal Analysis of Potential Career Choices A Formal Analysis Of Potential Career Choices Introduction A formal analysis of the characteristics and outlook for two possible career choices Policeman vs. Lawyer is a valuable tool in the decision making process used by an employment candidate to make a successful selection between them. New entrants into the job market face a very competitive environment and training (or re training) for jobs is frequently expensive and time consuming. Therefore there is a definite need to make one s career decisions using a comprehensive, formal analysis in order to promote a successful and satisfying career choice. Background information was gathered by a search of peer reviewed articles from governmental and professional journal sources in the literature. These articles provided several important variables to be considered in the methodology, including: (a) candidate gender; (b) candidate ethnicity; (c) educational level; (d) physical demands; (e) mental/analytical demands; (f) pathways to advancement; and (g) employment outlook. These decision variables are identified for each potential career choice and then compared and contrasted between the career options. An Exploration Of Budgeting And Forecasting Summary This paper will be an exploration of budgeting and forecasting and how they are determined and why they need to be re evaluated at the organization I work for. Furthermore, the hope is to uncover some of the underlining causes that are the drivers that trigger the re evaluations in our organization as well as discover ways to mitigate those factors. Background Like any other business we need to lower our costs, we apparently have difficulties creating a realistic budget, at least initially, and also have great difficulties with accurately forecasting. Are budgeting problems for new products could be due to the fact that prospective costs on new parts take a while to get properly entered into the system, combine that fact with a 12 month projection, times the number of parts missing cost information from our budget document and there will be quite a difference in actual costs at the end. By using a bill of materials for as a guide for new products, items with over $5 per item actually cost difference can be off by as much as 80% overall. • 30. Bourdieu s Theory of Cultural Capital Bourdieu s theory of cultural capital has been extremely influential, and has garnered a great deal of literature, both theoretical and empirical. Like Marx, Bourdieu posited that capital was the foundation of social life and dictated people s position within the social hierarchy (Bourdieu 1986). According to Bourdieu, the more capital one possesses, the more prestigious a position one occupies in social life (Bourdieu 1986). In addition to that, Bourdieu extended Marx s idea of capital beyond the economic and into cultural symbolism (Bourdieu 1986). Bourdieu s concept of cultural capital that refers to the collection of symbolic elements (e.g. skills, tastes, clothing) one acquires through being part of a particular social niche and his concept of habitus that refers to the physical manifestation of cultural capital owned by individuals due to life experiences are his major influential concepts that are very useful in deconstructing power in development and social change processes. However it must be recognized that these concepts also propagate social inequalities at the same time. This essay will closely examine his concepts of capital that comes in three forms embodied, objectified, and institutionalised, and habitus in the fields of education and stratification have made of it. It features many different stories from many different people who fought or participated in the Vietnam War. There are two particular stories, How to Tell a True War Story and Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, that stand out because they use surrealism. Surrealism is the word to describe what most people may perceive as unreal . These stories use surrealism by creating elements in the story that almost sound impossible, but the author insists that they are true. Throughout the story, we are constantly asking what is real and not real. But, if we use examples from the book, it may be easier to define what is real and unreal. How to Tell a True War Story is one of these two stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They both follow the rules of a true war story, not having morals and not being an uplifting story, and they sound almost believable. Yet, another rule of telling a true war story is that the story must be unbelievable in order for it to be true. So, going by this logic, the stories in How to Tell a True War Story must all be untrue or greatly exaggerated, and the Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong is mostly true. The reason for why How to Tell a True War Story is not true is because that many of the stories, including the story of Curt Lemon and the signing mountains, are just too believable to be true war stories. Neither of them have a moral, one of the rules for a TRUE war story is that they must sound unbelievable, and these two stories are much too normal for them to be a true war story. Although the stories in the chapter How to Tell a True War Story may not be completely true, they could be a collection of exaggerated stories that the author Tim O Brien heard about while he was in Vietnam. Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong on the other hand, has all the elements of a true war story . It does not have an easily discernible moral, isn t uplifting, nor suggest model of proper human behavior, and is crazy enough to be true. Although some parts may be exaggerated for effect. For this very reason, the United States has engaged in conflicts and negotiations around the world to allow the people of different countries the ability to freely and directly elect their leaders. The Importance Of The Arts At School Importance of the Arts in School People often view artistic activities as a leisure activity, so though they may agree it is a nice thing to have, they may not think it is essential to a person s life. It is the same for schools, with tight budgets, art is usually the first subject cut from a student s learning experience because it is not viewed as a priority. However, with all of the academic benefits students can gain from being involved in any type of art subject, it is important that schools allow students an easy access to art. By making art programs more prominent, schools would be offering students a chance to improve academic performance, increase happiness, and open up minds. Though art is mostly viewed as a hobby, it benefits children academically. One way art helps academic performance is by strengthening students brains. The principal of Lyons Elementary School explained the Opening Minds through Art program (OMA) helped teach children concepts through art that would later help them learn more in different subjects (Smith). They are an unnecessarily bloody nation, and because of this, I guess you could say they they will soon become an even more bloody nation as they face the wrath of God. Woe to him who says to wood, Awake! to silent stone Arise! It shall teach! behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, yet in it there is no breath at all. But The Lord is in His holy temple. • 44. Balance Of Power In International Relations Balance of power is a key concept in international relations. There are many different arguments about this concept that disagree on whether or not it causes or disrupts peace in the world. Two main arguments include those made by realists and liberals. While realist theory holds that a balance between the major powers will create peace, liberals point to many examples in which this isn t true. There have been many shifts in world power since the first world war that can serve as examples of peace compared to types of power in the international system. While no theory may be completely right, examples from the past century or so seem to prove that liberalism has the most accurate explanation of balance of power and how it relates to peace in the world through democracy, norms, and institutions. Because of this, states should not follow the advice to balance against power, but instead seek peace in different ways such as democratization to maintain democratic peace. As I stated earlier, balance of power is a very important concept in international relations. It is a realist theory that can be defined as an arrangement in which capabilities are fairly evenly distributed among the major actors (Kinsella 79). Basically, international stability exists when no major power dominates the international system. A balance of power can exist in multipolar systems by alliances between major powers, and in bipolar systems by two states matching each other s military capabilities. ... • 45. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Music Vs. Grease Bollywood and American Musical Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Music by Jatin Lalit, Lalit Pandin vs Grease Musical Score: Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey Bollywood took the world by storm several years ago. Among the most viewed theater releases to date, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge struck a fancy with many movie goers as a feel good feature enticing them to Come...fall in love . Musically, Dilwale contains a nearly wall to wall score with purposely written lyrics to help relay the story. Following the subtitles proved a bit daunting and the lyrics did not always seem to fit with the musical notation, but there was definite expertise in moving the story along with each number. Moreover, the cinematography allowed for indulgence in panoramic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their brief two month encounter resulted in the same arousal of young love that ended when the school bells beckoned. But, such as their counterparts in Dilwale, Sandy and Danny magically found their way back to each other and the film allowed us to experience their journey with more of the same type of buoyant, spirited music and dance as in the aforementioned film. Again, a nearly wall to wall score included some original hits from the 50s helping to set the scene, as well as melodies written especially for the movie in the same style, all of which helped to tell the story over the course of a school year. Much to my bewilderment, when viewing Grease I found that the songs were also lip synced and though the actual stars did their own singing, it too suffered in the technical department plus the dancing fell short just as in Dilwale, without much syncopation between music and movement. I did not notice this when I was 18? Much like Dilwale, there were a generous number of original scores for Grease, including Greased Lighting by Barry Gibb, and a cameo by Frankie Avalon, as well as the iconic Sha Na Na playing diegetic music at the school dance, all of which were in the popular genre of the 50s. Just as we saw in Dilwale, the song repertoire had lyrics that moved the dialogue along and helped to play out the difficulties of being in love at such a young age, however, along that vein the stories were dissimilar due to the fact that in America, dating and falling in love is part of a rite of passage as is choosing who we fall in love. With regard to the Indian culture, even in the diasporas of today, it can be seen that many still cling to the notion that the father chooses whom his daughter will wed. Both films incorporated dance numbers with similarities as well, and even though the music was from different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Influence of Protest Music during the 1960’s And... The 1960 s was one of the most controversial decades in American history because of not only the Vietnam War, but there was an outbreak of protests involving civil and social conditions all across college campuses. These protests have been taken to the extent where people either have died or have been seriously injured. However, during the 1960 s, America saw a popular form of art known as protest music, which responded to the social turmoil of that era, from the civil rights movement to the war in Vietnam. A veritable pantheon of musicians, such as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, Joan Baez, and Bob Dylan sang their songs to encourage union organizers to protest the inequities of their time, creating a diverse variety of popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1960 s in America was often referred to as an age of protest because of not only the social protests that have taken place, but also for the upbringing of protest music, which became very popular during that era. The roots of protest music were largely from folk music of American musicians during 1950 . Folk musicians, such as Joe Hill, composed labor union protest songs and distributed song booklets, hoping to fan the flames of discontent. (Rodnitzky pg. 6) Symbolically, this meant that the songs, the fan, would reduce the uncontrollable social protests that the United States government caused with the misleading information that they did not keep their word on, or the flames of discontent. Other folk musicians, such as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, traveled around the United States spreading their message music and becoming involved in political movements. Guthrie and Seeger were the pioneers of protest music, bringing their folk music to New York City and merging it with urban music. Woody s songs were about the masses, often identifying problems and offering solutions. While Seeger was cautious about referring to his music as folk music, preferring the term people s music, meaning that not everyone may had the same thoughts, but they all expressed it in their own unique musical sense. For both Woody and Seeger, folk music was a necessity in these protests, when the needs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
