King Solomon Research Paper
The temple of Jerusalem or the temple built by King Solomon. The establishing is in accordance
with the Divine Eternal Covenant between David and Yahweh. David wanted to build God a
permanent house of worships, where there could be centralized worship for the people of Israel.
Through this covenant with God, God would build Davida family dynasty (House) and David s
son, King Solomon would build the house of worship for God.
According to the ABD, Nothing has survived to the present day of the temple built by King
Solomon. Temple holds a place of great prominence in the architectural history of the Western
world. No other building of the ancient world, either while it stood in Jerusalem or in the millennia
since its final destruction, has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most heralded of all was the building of King Herod. King Herod s plans or desires were
more self serving than Godly. His plans were more geared towards those groups he could glean
something from, his supporters, people he respected or people who might respect him, and the flat
out admiration he pined for. King Herod stayed true to the original dimension of the biblical
temple. However, from there all shackles of conformity were unlocked. Herod would expand and
raise the temple platform, thus creating an unparalleled and truly monumental temple precinct
containing the sanctuary, courts, gates, a fortress (Antonia), approaches, porticoes, and subsidiary
buildings. In keeping up King Herod s ego, the only thing that Herod really out did King Solomon
in the way of building craft. Was the Herod out blinged King Solomon in the gold over laying
inside of the temple?
Not even the calamities of destructions to the religious temples could thwart the desire for a
permanent place to worship for the followers of Judaism and even that of Christianity. Past
tradition and customs is a cornerstone of belief and a way of life for these followers of God. The
quest for rebuilding the past will always be of paramount concern for the believers in Yahweh. As
long as the Torah exists, there will always be a blueprint for God s

Mrs Van Bliven Was Wrong
There was one person involved in stealing the necklace Mrs. Van Bliven. First off, some evidence
that proves Mrs. Van Bliven stole the necklace is how the glass was broken from the inside. This
is important because, the broken glass made it look like someone broke in. Also nobody could
of had access inside because the door was locked. This reason is important because there was no
other evidence of Schmidt in the room, for the same reason. Adding to that there was clear
evidence that someone was looking for the necklace which was most likely framed by Mrs. Van
Bliven. This detail is important because the suitcase was unlocked, the drawer was open, the
jewelry box was open, and the plant got searched through. Plus, proof of the maid being

Pursuing Doctoral Studies For Academic Excellence Essay
I am mostly interested in pursuing doctoral studies to achieve my ultimate goal to become a
prolific researcher as well as an inspiring, knowledgeable university level teacher. Consequently,
in the short term, my goal is to gain knowledge and skills related to research and teaching
especially during my PhD program. Additionally, in the long run, I will spend most of my time
practicing the knowledge and skills that I will have already acquired by teaching classes and
seminars, doing research projects, as well as writing qualified academic articles and books. I will
dedicate most of the time that I have after gaining a Doctoratedegree in Business to the
advancement of the academic excellence.
In the meantime, I realize that at the moment my business knowledge is predominantly empirical
gained mostly from my background experience both professional and academic (MBA). It is
wide in nature as it covers many aspects of business practices. Yet, I miss the depth of the
business knowledge. Therefore, my understanding on a more theoretical background of business
and economic phenomena is limited. Pursuing a doctoral study would undoubtedly be necessary
for me to enhance my understanding, particularly in terms of theory and concept. It is not only in
terms of my comprehension of the subjects per se but also in terms of skills necessary in theory
building and research capability. Those are, I deem, very critical elements in academic excellence.
Moreover, I believe, all of these are

Dante s Concept of Sin and Judgment in The Inferno
Infidelity, murder, betrayal, and conspiracy all play an integral part in the story of the relationship
between Jason and Medea. Jason is guilty of all four acts and Medea involves herself in three. Yet,
perhaps, in the eyes of Dante, Medea might fall further into the realm of Dis than Jason. But,
should she? And, is Dante s view of Jason and his sentence in Hell appropriate?
From Dante s perspective, crimes of passion or desire are the least abhorrent and consequently
deserve minimal punishment in comparison to what he believes are the more serious offenses.
These sinners, the carnal, the gluttonous, the hoarders and wasters, along with the wrathful and ...

Violence without consideration, striking out at another in anger, frustration, hatred or selfish
ambition is inherent in the nature of these actions. Accordingly Dante interprets them as being less
detrimental to one s being than crimes of thought and meditation.
In Dante s view the next circle of sin consists of acts of fraud. He classifies these sinners as
seducers and panderers, flatterers, simoniacs, fortune tellers, grafters, hypocrites, thieves, evil
counselors, sowers of discord, and counterfeiters or falsifiers. These are the souls who in life
betrayed the confidence of another. They preyed on other people solely for gain and knowingly
deceived without concern for their victims psyche or physical being.
Yet Dante does not stop here. He further complicates fraud by adding the realm of compound
fraud. Souls found in this circle of Hell did not betray just a stranger or acguaintance, but rather
twisted the confidence of someone who loved and/or respected them. They defiled their own kin
or country. They either took advantage of guests or of a host, perhaps within his own home. And,
falling closest to the pit of Hell (and Lucifer) are those souls who betray the confidence of their
lord or benefactor. All these unfortunate shadows of life are those who consciously sought to gain
by lying to or by committing an act of treachery against someone who holds a special place in their
life; someone who, in some way, they are

Volunteer Service In American Society
In American society, helping those that are less fortunate has always served as one of our core
values. Benjamin Franklin is credited as the first volunteer when he founded a volunteer firefighting
company in 1736. During the Civil War, Ladies Aid Societies came together providing linen for
bandages, wrappings, and many other cloth items. Often times, the volunteerwillingly makes
concessions in their own schedule to help others or provide services for charitable organizations.
What motivates the volunteer to sacrifice their own time in the service of others? In this paper, I
will address a variety of factors that drive the individual to give back to their community.

The Life of Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart endures as one of the more endearing characters in American history. In a time
when women played a largely secondary role in American, Amelia Earhart took a leading
position in the developing field of aviation and, in doing so; she displayed an adventurous spirit
that proved to be inspirational for several generations of Americans. Earhart was born in
Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897. Her father, Edwin, was an attorney and her mother, Amy, was
a housewife. She had one sister, Muriel, with whom she was very close. After high school, Earhart
worked as a nurse s aide in Philadelphia and briefly studied pre med at Columbia before moving to
California. While in California Ameliabecame interested in aviation and she began taking flying
lessons. Through the financial assistance of her sister, Muriel, and her mother, Amelia was able to
purchase her first airplane in 1922. Amelia eventually returned to the East Coast where she worked
as a social worker. During this time she met her husband, George Putnam, who at the time was
employed as a publisher. Through Putnam s contacts Earhart was able to obtain a seat as a
passenger on a transatlantic flight across the Atlantic Oceanand, in the process, become the first
women to cross the Atlantic by air. This achievement brought Amelia into the public eye and the
publication of her book about her adventures, 20 Hours 40 Minutes, reinforced her
accomplishments and her notoriety. Through Putnam s journalistic

Essay On Paul Farmer As A Hero In Mountains Beyond Mountains
When someone imagines a hero they usually think of a person that has superpowers or a famous
person that made an impact on society and mass amount of people. But a hero can be as simple as
someone who helps others and in the eyes of others is looked up to. In Mountains Beyond
Mountains by Tracy Kidder, Paul Farmera doctor, is this hero. His beliefs and ideas impacts the
lives of many and his actions help many people around him. His commitment to the long defeat is
what helps Farmer in his decision making to treat patients and win.
Throughout his time helping others Farmers always refers to this term long defeat. This term
means that there might be a impossible goal that is trying to be reached but it is wrong to give up
or should not be given up so easily. It is easy to let it go and face the facts the facts that nothing
can be done but one should not do this just because they want to win.
This type of thinking and commitment to long defeat is what separated Farmer from the rest of the
doctors in that area. Since he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The situation right now is that still people without money and resources are ill and on the verge
of dying. What Farmer is doing is doing is that he is trying his best to help these people out. The
goal set is to help this country out that means every single person. Since this is an impossible
goal many gave up and blame others. Famer says I have fought the long defeat and brought other
people on to fight the long defeat, and I m not going to stop because we keep losing. Now I
actually think sometimes we may win ( Kidder .....) What he is saying is that since he is not
going to get this goal of heling others that is concerted a loss. But in fact, that is wrong they win
in this situation because they are helping others who need it. Slowly they will get to their goal but
for right now they win because even if one person is aided that s a

Fear The Walking Dead Persuasive Essay
This past Sunday, AMC graced us with the premier of Fear the Walking Dead, a spin off of the
amazing, The Walking Dead TV series. While I am not a huge fan of spin offs in general, I must
say that I was impressed.
The following may contain spoilers, so if you haven t had the chance to see the premier, I would
highly recommend doing so before reading further.
So why should you watch Fear the Walking Dead? Because I said you should! And the fact that the
first episode will have you hooked, well, if you are a Walking Dead fan that is.
So where does Fear the Walking Dead fit into The Walking Dead universe? Well that s easy, it
takes place prior to the events of The Walking Dead, and on the west coast. More or less the
beginning of zombie infection.
In TWD, Rick wakes from a coma, to an unrecognizable world. Essentially a zombie apocalypse
where food and supplies are hard to come by. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of the completely depressing feel of TWD world, we are given a much more active,
slightly less depressing feel in FTWD. Why do I say slightly less depressing? Well the fact that
the first episode opens in an abandoned and run down church which is a haven for drug users,
might be a good reason. Or, the fact that our opening character, Nick, a junkie, witnesses the girl
he was with, eating someones face off. I could be wrong. Throughout the episode, we get to learn
about Nick s somewhat dysfunctional family and hints of the zombie apocalypse starting to unfold.
There are also hints that the drug that Nick has been using, is causing people to become zombies.
Of course, nobody understands what is going on yet, not even Nick. Everything starts to be put in
perspective when Nick s drug dealer, Calvin, attempts to kill him, only to get killed himself. After
fleeing the location and then returning with his mother, Madison, and step father, Travis, Nick
finds that Calvins body is missing, at least until they try to

Alternative Responses
When I find myself in an argument that seems to have no solution, when I feel there are unspoken
motivations on the side of my conversational partner inflaming their irritation, I see that I have the
power to change course. If I have this recognition, I can return to a place of more calm and ask,
What is upsetting you right now? What do you feel is true or important that isn t getting across? To
resolve this I want to really understand how you feel.
Feelings are a point of contention right now. From millenials and their feelings about the
workplace to the vocalization and protest of social justice warriors to the presence of alternative
facts or truthiness what is felt or perceived to be true rather than what data supports.
One response ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means involving feelings. How do people feel, really? What hurts or angers them? Why do
they feel this way? What memories do they have leading to these feelings? How might their feelings
influence their actions? That is the beginning of radical love and compassionate politics. These are
the things considered by a good parent or friend or lover. We put down our defenses and
irritation to consider why they act the way they do when they surprise or disappoint us, because
we love them and believe them worthy of this generosity. Sometimes we decide, Oh, it s not her
fault, her mother had severe OCD so when she s under stress she gets a little anxious about
clutter. It s not that big of a deal. Then sometimes we decide it s too severe and say instead, I
know she gets anxious about clutter because of her upbringing, but it s really getting out of control
and damaging our relationship. What would help her heal that anxiety? And then you begin the
conversation of compromise. Either way, that consideration, awareness, and generosity will go a
long way helping each of you find a peaceful

Pumpkins By Francine Prose
Francine Prose s short fictional piece, Pumpkins, was about a therapist who was having an
epiphany, with how this sudden incident that has happened in town, affects him so greatly. The
short piece also played with the significance of the pumpkin in an interesting way. One thing that
I noticed in my first read of Prose s short piece was that it has a very serious and heavy tone. For
example, just within the first two lines, There was a terrible accident. A truck full of Halloween
pumpkins is speeding... . As well as the beginning sentence of paragraph two. The second thing that
I had noticed in Prose s piece was that the story was being told through the therapist perspective.
Although it took me several reads to catch this, each time I read

The Pros And Cons Of Evaluating NASA
You are the same age as the universe, because matter can never be created or destroyed. NASA
will be fifty eight years old tomorrow, October 1, 2016. Since the start of the NASA program, in
October of 1958, we have had many different projects to explore and discover more about what is
around our world. Many criteria that can be used to evaluate NASA, and these criteria are past
tragedies, past successes, theories for travel, type of transportation, funding, popularity, reputation,
long term impact, short term impact, and scientific discoveries. NASA has had three major past
tragedies that still linger over the program today. The first major tragedy for NASA came at a
fragile time. During the start of the Apollo program three astronauts who were scheduled to be
sent into orbit on Apollo One died from a fire. This fire started from an electrical failure in their
simulation practice pod as the three men, Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White II, Roger B. Chaffee,
were inclosed in the pure oxygen chamber. Then, during the eighties when NASA was sending
space shuttles into orbit and no longer going to the moon, the space shuttlechallenger launched from

impacts were both negative and positive. With these missions being the first real interactions
between humans and zero gravity space there was many discoveries, most discoveries were very
basic. Some negative short term impacts was the fear of the Russians and communism that was
created. This fear fueled the NASA programs for years. Funding was easy to get since taxes were
increased with the nationwide fear of going to war. More short term impacts that astronauts soon
found were the slight increase in height after being in a zero gravity environment. Other similar
short term impacts were found by trial and error and some from

My Philosophy Of Teaching Language
My philosophy of teaching language is that in order for a child to achieve language they have to
have the desire to learn it. In my short time, I have overseen teachers implement a student centered
learning environment. Learning in my future classroom will always occur within cooperative and
collaborative group work. Having observed this strategy, this strategy is completely effective and
positive to reaffirm and develop strong student to student and instructor to students relationships.
This only reassures and establishes an honest and sincere communication in classrooms. I would
also do my best to create a positive and enjoyable environment for my future students, which
motivates them to participate actively in the activities. In today s classrooms, I find, they are
becoming extremely diverse in socioeconomic, academic, disability and ethnic backgrounds. To be
able to provide a connection and identity with the English languageonly becomes a more
challenging task to achieve due to the diversity of the group of students. Apply knowledge of
language to understand how language functions in different contexts, to make effective choices
for meaning or style, and to comprehend more fully when reading or listening (Arizona College
and Career Readiness Standards). However, as my duty and responsibility as an instructor, I am
obligated to design activities that address the diverse abilities and needs of each and every student.
One of my primary goals of teaching is to help

Laser Crack Measurement System for Pavement-Management Sytems
Pavement management systems (PMS) can work effectively only when they are constructed by
organically combining all activities concerned with road pavement (planning, design, construction,
maintenance, rehabilitation, evaluation, economic analysis, and research) and the data bank [1].
Then, the most important items are the establishment of a serviceability index, which represents
pavement quality, and a prediction of performance, which is represented by the relation between
time (and/or traffic) and the index. Pavement quality consists of two primary factors: riding quality
and skid resistance. The factors influencing riding quality are pavement distress and/or roughness.
Three major factors of pavement distress are cracking, rutting, and... Show more content on

Therefore, measuring the macro texture is one of the essential components in pavement management
applications.
The requirements for acquiring these factors are the following: (1) That data acquisition cost is as
cheap as possible; (2) that data analysis can be done in a short time; and (3) that data acquisition
doesn t influence the speed of other traveling vehicles, in particular on roads with heavy traffic [2].
Pavement surface distress measurement is an essential part of a pavement management system
(PMS) for determining cost effective maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. Visual surveys
conducted by engineers in the field are still the most widely used means to inspect and evaluate
pavements, although such evaluations involve high degrees of subjectivity, hazardous exposure,
and low production rates. Consequently, automated distress identification is gaining wide
popularity among transportation agencies [6]. With the advancement of 3D sensor and information
technology, a high resolution, high speed 3D line laser imaging system has become available for
pavement surface condition data collection. With the advances in sensor technology, a 3D line laser
imaging based pavement surface data acquisition system has become available. The Laser Crack

constructing pavement surfaces. The objective of

Nortel rose to the top and was considered a giant corporation. It was considered the largest
communication company in Canada prior filing bankruptcy in 2009. In the 1990s the company

increasingly high. Nortel reached its highest peak in September 2000 with its highest profit of
$390 billion. The company was thriving and the stakeholder shares value reached a whopping
$200 by the 2000s (Collins, 2011, Exhibit 1). During this rise for Nortelthere were several items
introduced into the market such as cell phones and personal computers that made it easier for them
to continue thriving. In the US alone, Nortel installed over 50 million of optical cables within

Hofstede s Six Dimensions Of Culture
When a leader is born, raised and works in the same cultural area, he/she is adapted to the cultural
environment. But whenever a person has to lead a team consisting of intercultural people or even
when a leader has to move to a different country, the cultural differences might become an obstacle
for successful leadership. Different countries, nations have different history, values, religion. A
successful leader has to understand such differences to be effective. Hofstede s Six Dimensions of
Culture is an effective framework that helps to find and understand cultural differences of other
parts of the world and to overcome the misunderstandings that might erupt unintentionally.
At the end of 1970s Dutch psychologist Dr. Geert Hofstede created Four Dimensions of Culture.
Based on data from more than 40 countries he and his research team identified dimensions that
perceive cultures. Dr. Hofstede analyzed questionnaires of employees of a big international
company IBM with offices all over the world. He found it very important, that it is better to take
into consideration the whole cluster (country) and look for similarities in it, rather than concentrate
on individuals. ...they [IBM employees] were similar in all respects except nationality, which made
the effect of national differences in their answers stand out unusually clearly (Hofstede, 2011).

Straight teeth are associated with everything from a better social life, better employment
opportunities, and a higher self esteem. Even so, there is typically hesitation from most adults who
do not want the time and financial expense necessary to invest in braces, especially when their first

Challenges of Invisalign
For the treatment to be successful, patients need to commit to wearing the aligning trays for the pre
set number of hours each day. Without wearing the trays, patients won t have see the anticipated in
the expected time period.
The trays need to be removed for eating, drinking, and some sports, while traditional braces are
affixed to the teeth and not removed until the end of treatment.
Every two weeks, patients will have a new series of trays. Visits to the provider won t happen that
frequently, but they will need to be regularly checked to make sure the teeth are moving into the
proper places.
There are a few cases in which Invisalign is not the best method to treat or correct a dental
condition.
Often, Invisalign has a higher cost involved than traditional braces, however, there can be, and are,
many exceptions.

are not regularly staying informed on the improvements may have a more challenging time

The Rights Of Gay And Lesbian Parents
Imagine being told, by law, you couldn t have a family of your own because of lifestyle choices.
There are 251,695 same sex married couples in the U.S, as of 2013, that had to deal with
difficulties while building their family whereas a hetrosexual couple could just simply do what
was needed. Stereotypes and false research have hindered same sex couples all over the U.S
because it has put some doubt into the minds of very powerful people causing them to create laws
on what a family should be. Fear that our future children will end up lesser than the high standards
we already hold them to causes important people to create these laws to somehow protect them.

Many of the initial studies exploring the effects that gay and lesbian parents had on their children s
gender role behavior and identity used novel methods of determining how well the children s
conceptions of gender fit those of their heterosexually parented peers. Studies of younger children
often placed participants in a room with many traditionally gendered toys and observed which toys
were most played with over the course of the study. Others interviewed the parents about the toys
that their children independently chose to play with as well as the activities that they
independently engaged in. Older children were asked to draw pictures of themselves or pictures of
men and women engaged in an activity.
Qualitative studies interviewed children and parents about favorite television shows, extracurricular
activities and vocational aspirations. Although some studies found minor differences, such as the
daughters of lesbian mothers showing greater interest in traditionally masculine activities and
behaviors and the sons of lesbian mothers expressing wider ranges of behaviors, less aggression
and less play activities, the results consistently demonstrated that children of heterosexual and gay
or lesbian parents did not significantly differ overall in terms of gender role behavior or gender
identity development. The summit of the studies concluded gay and lesbian parents cannot affect
their children s gender development or hinder how they view gender roles. Despite

Criminal Justice System In 12 Angry Men
Many important topics and integral information that is an essential part in the criminal justice
system have been introduced in the play 12 Angry Men . Some examples of this would be crime
and justice including the laws, criminal behavior, victimization, and the criminal justice system in
itself. These issues are everyday situations but many people have been oblivious to the problem.
The twelve jurors have an assignment where they will have to decide whether or not the young man
on trialis guilty of murdering his father or is innocent beyond a reasonable doubt. All twelve men
are frustrated and lack patience which lead them to be contumacious and unfocused. Their
distraction led to many key facts getting misemployed and emotions start to cross making it hard for
the jurors to construct a resolution. They have been oblivious to the effect that it would have on the
community itself. On the information given up to this point this process essay will articulate the
unenlightenment and egomaniacal principles of the twelve men in the short story and movie
Twelve Angry Men written by Reginald Rose and directed by Sidney Lumet. Both Lumet and Rose
showed their point of views of the criminal justicesystem in the play and the movie. Although the
director s view on the justicesystem demonstrated the rights that everyone had, it also revealed his
thoughts on how the justice system is corrupt, ineffective and unjust because all these aspects have
shown the major differences in the morality of the twelve individuals and the problem at hand in
the movie and play 12 Angry Men .
The movie 12 Angry Men denotes how the most seemingly trivial facts and evidence can affect
the aftermath in a brobdingnagian way if not processed thoroughly. In the movie you have
twelve jurors, all from different backgrounds and with different personalities. But one wise and
optimistic juror speaks his opinion, one that doesn t make a big difference in the beginning but
opens the minds of the other eleven jurors as time goes by. He expresses the facts and evidence
that was discussed during the young man s trial. He had said I want to try this thing. Let me see

Walden Rhetorical Analysis
We can t live without nature. It s our home and way of life. Henry David Thoreau wrote a piece
about Walden Pond in the springtime. Thoreau discusses how nature has so much to offer. His
use of anaphora, diction, and imagery helps to show not only his love for nature, but the impact
it has on us. One device he uses to come across to the reader is anaphora. His love of nature was
clear and he had an eye for detail. Thoreau shows us this through his statement, It was the most
ethereal flight I had ever witnessed. This claim shows how much beauty he saw in nature. It was
almost too perfect for this world in his eyes. He then brings up questions like, O Death, where was
thy sing? O Grave, where was thy victory, then? Thoreau is leaving the reader wondering with these
questions. Thoreau is questioning nature now. When he goes in depth with anaphora it makes you

The Popularity of Gangster Films in the Early Nineteen Thirties The late 1920s in America was a
particularly tumultuous period of time for the country. The Wall Street Crash in 1929 had led to
high levels of unemployment and dissatisfaction within the country. The Depression (1929 1934),
which was a direct result of The Wall Street Crash, led to a breakdown of industry and commerce
within the country and weakened its global position as a superpower. People began to realise that
the ideal which had been frequently promoted by governmental propaganda of The American
Dream which suggested that success, in the democratic and classless society guaranteed by the...

During this period the rise of urban gang rule and mobsters was unprecedented, mainly emerging
from minority immigrant groups (Jewish/Italian/Irish). Initially the gangsters of the period were
seen as high achievers as they were associated with the proletariat and seemed to be capable of
rising above there roots, even during hard times in America, and achieve wealth. When considering
the socio economic factors it is easy to understand why such men were considered as gangster
heroes [3] who represented the people, however the only way that gangsters could achieve this
wealth, subsequently fulfilling the American Dream, was by stealing it. Accruing capital meant
accruing power over others [4]. Therefore it could be argued that the success gangsters
exemplified was a perverse form of the American dream as it disregarded some of the key elements
of the ideal. The fact that at this stage in America gangsters were the only group within society who
could make upward mobility believable, tells much about how legitimate institutions had failed but
that mobility was still at the core of what Americans held to be the American dream [5].
In the early 1930 s productions began within Hollywood of what were commonly described as
social problem pictures [6], these films dealt specifically with the social difficulties of the period
such as unemployment/labour struggles ( Black

Life Lesson By The Holocaust Analysis
Life Lesson Taught by the Holocaust
Imagine, hundreds of thousands of weak, hungry, beaten people grasping onto life through hope.
No one to turn to; no say on right and wrong. During the Holocaust, millions of Jewish people
around the world were treated as if animals and died because of their religion. Yet, how does this
teach future generations the causes and effects of bullying in their everyday lives? Though the
Nazis, at the time, believed they were doing the correct act by banishing all Jews; they have

Princess Alice and Miep Gies risked their lives through good will to protect the important Jewish
people in their lives. This proves they were not bystanders. A bystander is defined as a person
who witnesses an incident taking place but does not get involved or take action. Both took action
to do what was right. Not to mention, each ignored the common belief that one practicing Judaism
or those of Jewish grandparents were threats to the population. Because Anne Frank was locked in
the annex and deprived of her original lifestyle, her young personality changed and she began to
lose ambition. This is also a downside that relates to bullying. Similarly, in modern bullying,
victims become depressed and their personalities change because they are treated variously and
with little respect. Moreover, when Sonia was recapping her past life and comparing it to the
nightmare situations she was facing at the moment, she and others shared an eruption of emotions.
Once again, bullying too can cause a great deal of emotions upon that person when constantly being
teased by uniqueness. From every hardship there is a lesson learned. There is a variety of
inferences on what the Holocaust has shown its younger generation. A man

Political Viewpoints
The public s perspectives on political issues may change as various circumstances happen every
day. Nature around us influences the choices that we deliver and the perspectives that we as
American nationals hold. In order to obtain those views and concluded on decisions is based on
the values that we embrace. These values are originated from our upbringing, friends, family,
and our life experiences that we, as individuals, face. Our principles then determine what we
deem important or non important and in a political sense can even tell us what party we identify
ourselves. In taking the Ideology Quiz, I found my results to fall smack dab in the liberal area.
After taking time and really relating my values tom my answers throughout the quiz, I do agree
with this classification. I believe the survey itself classified me as a Liberal due to the values I
share with other Liberals. The most significant one being equality. Believing in government
action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. This being one of my values followed
by freedom, respect for the individual, and loyalty. Even if I feel like my needs are being met, I

Management Control System

MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEMS, TRANSFER PRICING,
AND MULTINATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
22 1A management control system is a means of gathering and using information to aid and
coordinate the planning and control decisions throughout the organization and to guide the
behavior of its managers and employees. The goal of the system is to improve the collective
decisions within an organization.
22 2To be effective, management control systems should be (a) closely aligned to an organization

responsibility of individual managers, and (c) able to motivate managers and employees to put in

22 12Reasons why a dual pricing approach to transfer pricing is not widely used in practice include:
1.The manager of the supplying division uses a cost based method to record revenues and does not
have sufficient incentives to control costs.
2.This approach does not provide clear signals to division managers about the level of
decentralization top management wants. 3. This approach tends to insulate managers from the
frictions of the marketplace because costs, not market prices, affect the revenues of the supplying
division. 4. It leads to problems in computing the taxable income of subunits located in different tax
jurisdictions.
22 13Disagree. Cost and price information are often useful starting points in the negotiation
process. Costs, particularly variable costs of the selling division, serve as a floor below which
the selling division would be unwilling to sell. Prices that the buying division would pay to
purchase products from the outside market serves as a ceiling above which the buying division
would be unwilling to buy. The price negotiated by the two divisions will, in general, have no
specific relationship to either costs or prices. But the negotiated price will generally fall between
the variable costs based floor and the market price based ceiling.

Clothing Choices In Historical Films
When a film claims to faithfully portray historical events, it becomes open to a variety of
criticisms: are the clothing choices appropriate for the time? What about choices in dialogue? And
perhaps most importantly, how accurately are the aforementioned events depicted? Generally
speaking, historical dramas are judged more harshly than other genres; as when real people and
their documented actions are subject to interpretation by the viewer, it is easy for the nuances and
subtleties of society many years ago to appear foreign to modern eyes. However, when a film
acknowledges the archaic nature of its subject and seeks to make it more accessible to newer eyes,
it must be careful to still remain true to historical events.
The 2006 film Marie Antoinette (directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst in the titular
role) is one such film that sought to modernise its subject. A retelling of the life of France s most
famous queen, the film showcases the majority of Antoinette s life, from her ... Show more content

The Central American country of Guatemala fought a bloody civil war for over 36 years. The

In a short lived movement to install a civilian lead government, Cesar Mendez was democratically
elected president and it seemed that the bloodshed may be over. On the contrary, the Civil War
intensified as the military revved up a robust counterinsurgency campaign to defeat the newly
elected government. As the fighting continued, the military seized power again. Under the rule of
military backed Carlos Arana was elected President. As expected he began to use force and violence
against indigenous communities and militant groups that opposed the new regime. The military
seized more power over the civilian population. This military action continued for the next decade.
Like in many countries that are not a world power, most of this violence went unnoticed. Yet while
the world focused on the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, Guatemalan
citizens were victims of military rule and being terrorized by the state. Indigenous activists,

Treatment Of Safe Injection Sites
Throughout Canada, many individuals unsafely use illicit substances that may result in disease
or even death. The government has established safe injection sites in order to prevent addicts
from spreading HIV or AIDS and even overdosing. The first safe injection site to be established
was built in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, Canada. At first, the site was operated under a
waiver from the federal government that allowed the clinic to provide its services to drug abusers
as part of a research project (Drucker, 2006). Now, based on the research collected, it is apparent
that there are both positive and negatives that have risen from the formation of safe injection sites.

Clearly, safe injection sites are categorized as a type of harm reduction for drug users that
ultimately engage in risky lifestyles. Due to the growing number of drug related deaths and the
failure of prohibition of drug use, activists believed that it was up to them to establish alternate
measures of safety for illegal drug use (MacDonald, 2011). Safe injection sites were established
to provide people who inject drugs with a clean injection environment, sterile injections, and
with clean drug preparation tools such as cookers and water (Semaan et al, 2011). Safe injection
sites also allow access for drug addicts to use the available health care and have medical
supervision while taking the illegal substance (Lavoie, 2015). According to Semaan et al, the
overall aim of safe injection sites is to reduce public injection and the risk of infection with HIV,
hepatitis C virus, injection related bacterial infections, and drug overdose morality (2011).
According to Macdonald, in 2009 there were approximately 92 safe injection sites across the
world, most of these safe injection sites operated in European cities (2011). Within Europe safe
injection sites were part of local social services, compared to this, Canada s safe injection sites are
research based experiments that must operate under specific laws or by exemption status from
criminal prohibition (MacDonald, 2011). It is then obvious that in

Accounting Information and Predicting Financial Performance
Accounting Information and Predicting Financial Performance:
Accounting information can be useful in order to help predict future performance in the short and
long term. It is important to note however that accounting information including accounting ratios
show a company s performance at a period in time. It is historical data. Trends can be identified by
comparing data in sequential periods and future forecasts can be determined using historical data.
There is no evidence or proof however, that these patterns will predict the future at a level of
complete certainty. In my opinion, it would be hard to argue that decreasing profits over an
extended period of time, or deteriorating liquid assets and increasing long term debt will have a ...

The coverage ratios use cash flow from operations in most cases. Coverage ratios are important
to long term investors and creditors because of the nature of the ratios that show the availability
of cash to pay for items that include long term debts and dividends as well calculating
percentages of cash flow from operations to shareholders equity, and average number of common
shares outstanding (Ibarra, 2009). In addition, it has been determined that the cash flow to total
debt (a coverage ratio) can be used as one of the best indicators of financial distress (Jooste, 2007).
In all coverage ratios, a high ratio and increasing trends is the best case scenario.
Regression analysis seems to be extremely useful in determining financial distress and the
bankruptcy of firms. In fact, in a particular study conducted by Bredart in 2014, it was presented
that regression analysis was able to show an 84% prediction accuracy rate in determining
bankruptcy of 870 firms between the years of 2000 and 2012 (Bredart, 2014). The independent
variables used in Bredart study included profitability (net income/total assets), liquidity (current
assets/current liabilities), and solvency (equity/total assets) while the dependent variable included
financial distress.

The History Of Hollywood And The Film Industry
Hollywood and the film industry has been impacting American culture and society for many
decades now. Over these decades the film industry and society became entangled. The American
people influence what types and how films are produced through their actions of going to the
theaters. The industry reacts to the market created by the consumers but also comes up with new
and creative ideas. These ideas and innovations are tested by those who see the film and how
successful they are. One market that has ebbed and flowed through the times has been religious
themed films. America is influenced by the role of religion, especially Christianity and Judaism.
An important story from these religious groups is the exodus of the Israelites from the bondage of
the Egyptians. The first major movie that Hollywood created to tell this story is the Ten
Commandments produced in 1956 by Cecil de Mille starring Charlton Heston as the great leader
Moses. Recently the film industry created the movie, Exodus: Gods and Kings, produced in 2014
by Ridley Scott with Christian Bale as Moses.
Both of these films try to follow the general framework of the exodus of the Hebrews from the
Biblical narrative. Pharaoh of Egypt controlled the enslaved Israelites. Even under that oppressive
control the Israelites grew their population, which concerned the Pharaoh of an uprising. He
decided that the firstborn males of the Israelites should be killed to reduce their population and to
keep authority over them.

How I got interested in computers was when I got my very first one when I was sort of young
around eight or nine. It wasn t the best computer out at the time, but it was still a computer that
made me so attached to and fascinated with the technology that makes up computers. When I

caused the division between Shi ite and Sunni Muslims. Imams play an important role for Shi ites.
An Imam is recognized to be infallible and sinless group of men that were chosen by Allah. They
were gifted with wisdom and are instilled with knowledge to represent the spirit of Muhammad. For
Shi ite Muslims they are qualified to be leaders. This shows how they differ with Sunni Islam. Shi

women are oppressed, Muslims have a low tolerance of other beliefs, or a Jihadist automatically

media has given the nation false and exaggerating propaganda against Muslims. Instead of
educating oneself on Muslim culture and Islam, Americans run and digest a lot of outlandish
stories and create these stereotypes against a group of people. On September 18, 2015 at a
Donald Trump town hall event in New Hampshire, and unidentified man made a statement and
asked the prospective presidential candidate, We have a problem in this county. It s called
Muslims, you know our current president is one. You know he s not even an American. Anyway,
we have training camps growing where they want to kill us. When can we get rid of them
(Schleifer)? This kind of narrow minded thinking breathes hatred and discrimination against a

Colonial Society Chapter 3 Summary
In chapter 3 we see 60 70 years of history dealing with establishing the basic economic and political
patterns that would shape colonial society. Between 1640 and 1720, the mainland colonies became
increasingly involved in a network of trade and international contacts that led to territorial

  • 2. King Solomon Research Paper The temple of Jerusalem or the temple built by King Solomon. The establishing is in accordance with the Divine Eternal Covenant between David and Yahweh. David wanted to build God a permanent house of worships, where there could be centralized worship for the people of Israel. Through this covenant with God, God would build Davida family dynasty (House) and David s son, King Solomon would build the house of worship for God. According to the ABD, Nothing has survived to the present day of the temple built by King Solomon. Temple holds a place of great prominence in the architectural history of the Western world. The most heralded of all was the building of King Herod. King Herod s plans or desires were more self serving than Godly. His plans were more geared towards those groups he could glean something from, his supporters, people he respected or people who might respect him, and the flat out admiration he pined for. King Herod stayed true to the original dimension of the biblical temple. However, from there all shackles of conformity were unlocked. Herod would expand and raise the temple platform, thus creating an unparalleled and truly monumental temple precinct containing the sanctuary, courts, gates, a fortress (Antonia), approaches, porticoes, and subsidiary buildings. In keeping up King Herod s ego, the only thing that Herod really out did King Solomon in the way of building craft. Was the Herod out blinged King Solomon in the gold over laying inside of the temple? Not even the calamities of destructions to the religious temples could thwart the desire for a permanent place to worship for the followers of Judaism and even that of Christianity. Past tradition and customs is a cornerstone of belief and a way of life for these followers of God. The quest for rebuilding the past will always be of paramount concern for the believers in Yahweh. • 4. Pursuing Doctoral Studies For Academic Excellence Essay I am mostly interested in pursuing doctoral studies to achieve my ultimate goal to become a prolific researcher as well as an inspiring, knowledgeable university level teacher. Consequently, in the short term, my goal is to gain knowledge and skills related to research and teaching especially during my PhD program. Additionally, in the long run, I will spend most of my time practicing the knowledge and skills that I will have already acquired by teaching classes and seminars, doing research projects, as well as writing qualified academic articles and books. I will dedicate most of the time that I have after gaining a Doctoratedegree in Business to the advancement of the academic excellence. In the meantime, I realize that at the moment my business knowledge is predominantly empirical gained mostly from my background experience both professional and academic (MBA). It is wide in nature as it covers many aspects of business practices. Yet, I miss the depth of the business knowledge. Therefore, my understanding on a more theoretical background of business and economic phenomena is limited. Pursuing a doctoral study would undoubtedly be necessary for me to enhance my understanding, particularly in terms of theory and concept. It is not only in terms of my comprehension of the subjects per se but also in terms of skills necessary in theory building and research capability. Those are, I deem, very critical elements in academic excellence. Moreover, I believe, all of these are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Divine Comedy Dante s Concept of Sin and Judgment in The Inferno Infidelity, murder, betrayal, and conspiracy all play an integral part in the story of the relationship between Jason and Medea. Jason is guilty of all four acts and Medea involves herself in three. Yet, perhaps, in the eyes of Dante, Medea might fall further into the realm of Dis than Jason. But, should she? And, is Dante s view of Jason and his sentence in Hell appropriate? From Dante s perspective, crimes of passion or desire are the least abhorrent and consequently deserve minimal punishment in comparison to what he believes are the more serious offenses. These sinners, the carnal, the gluttonous, the hoarders and wasters, along with the wrathful and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Violence without consideration, striking out at another in anger, frustration, hatred or selfish ambition is inherent in the nature of these actions. Accordingly Dante interprets them as being less detrimental to one s being than crimes of thought and meditation. In Dante s view the next circle of sin consists of acts of fraud. He classifies these sinners as seducers and panderers, flatterers, simoniacs, fortune tellers, grafters, hypocrites, thieves, evil counselors, sowers of discord, and counterfeiters or falsifiers. These are the souls who in life betrayed the confidence of another. They preyed on other people solely for gain and knowingly deceived without concern for their victims psyche or physical being. Yet Dante does not stop here. He further complicates fraud by adding the realm of compound fraud. Souls found in this circle of Hell did not betray just a stranger or acguaintance, but rather twisted the confidence of someone who loved and/or respected them. They defiled their own kin or country. They either took advantage of guests or of a host, perhaps within his own home. And, falling closest to the pit of Hell (and Lucifer) are those souls who betray the confidence of their lord or benefactor. All these unfortunate shadows of life are those who consciously sought to gain by lying to or by committing an act of treachery against someone who holds a special place in their life; someone who, in some way, they are ... During the Civil War, Ladies Aid Societies came together providing linen for bandages, wrappings, and many other cloth items. Often times, the volunteerwillingly makes concessions in their own schedule to help others or provide services for charitable organizations. In a time when women played a largely secondary role in American, Amelia Earhart took a leading position in the developing field of aviation and, in doing so; she displayed an adventurous spirit that proved to be inspirational for several generations of Americans. After high school, Earhart worked as a nurse s aide in Philadelphia and briefly studied pre med at Columbia before moving to California. While I am not a huge fan of spin offs in general, I must say that I was impressed. Because I said you should! And the fact that the first episode will have you hooked, well, if you are a Walking Dead fan that is. So where does Fear the Walking Dead fit into The Walking Dead universe? Well that s easy, it takes place prior to the events of The Walking Dead, and on the west coast. These issues are everyday situations but many people have been oblivious to the problem. The twelve jurors have an assignment where they will have to decide whether or not the young man on trialis guilty of murdering his father or is innocent beyond a reasonable doubt. The fact that at this stage in America gangsters were the only group within society who could make upward mobility believable, tells much about how legitimate institutions had failed but that mobility was still at the core of what Americans held to be the American dream [5]. The goal of the system is to improve the collective decisions within an organization. 22 2To be effective, management control systems should be (a) closely aligned to an organization s strategies and goals, (b) designed to fit the organization s structure and the decision making responsibility of individual managers, and (c) able to motivate managers and employees to put in effort to attain selected goals desired by top ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 22 12Reasons why a dual pricing approach to transfer pricing is not widely used in practice include: 1.The manager of the supplying division uses a cost based method to record revenues and does not have sufficient incentives to control costs. 2.This approach does not provide clear signals to division managers about the level of decentralization top management wants. 3. This approach tends to insulate managers from the frictions of the marketplace because costs, not market prices, affect the revenues of the supplying division. 4. It leads to problems in computing the taxable income of subunits located in different tax jurisdictions. 22 13Disagree. Cost and price information are often useful starting points in the negotiation process. Costs, particularly variable costs of the selling division, serve as a floor below which the selling division would be unwilling to sell. Prices that the buying division would pay to purchase products from the outside market serves as a ceiling above which the buying division would be unwilling to buy. The price negotiated by the two divisions will, in general, have no specific relationship to either costs or prices. • 29. Clothing Choices In Historical Films When a film claims to faithfully portray historical events, it becomes open to a variety of criticisms: are the clothing choices appropriate for the time? What about choices in dialogue? And perhaps most importantly, how accurately are the aforementioned events depicted? Generally speaking, historical dramas are judged more harshly than other genres; as when real people and their documented actions are subject to interpretation by the viewer, it is easy for the nuances and subtleties of society many years ago to appear foreign to modern eyes. However, when a film acknowledges the archaic nature of its subject and seeks to make it more accessible to newer eyes, it must be careful to still remain true to historical events. The 2006 film Marie Antoinette (directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst in the titular role) is one such film that sought to modernise its subject. A retelling of the life of France s most famous queen, the film showcases the majority of Antoinette s life, from her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the film focuses more on the inherently stifling nature of the Pre Revolutionary French Court than on the rising political climate in the country, the fact remains that Marie Antoinette is a largely historically accurate film, and that those choices made by the director in fact work largely in its favour towards its goal of telling a story not of a country on fire with the prospect of revolution, but of a young girl, caught between a child and an adult, and finally growing ... Clearly, safe injection sites are categorized as a type of harm reduction for drug users that ultimately engage in risky lifestyles. Due to the growing number of drug related deaths and the failure of prohibition of drug use, activists believed that it was up to them to establish alternate measures of safety for illegal drug use (MacDonald, 2011). Safe injection sites were established to provide people who inject drugs with a clean injection environment, sterile injections, and with clean drug preparation tools such as cookers and water (Semaan et al, 2011). Safe injection sites also allow access for drug addicts to use the available health care and have medical supervision while taking the illegal substance (Lavoie, 2015). According to Semaan et al, the overall aim of safe injection sites is to reduce public injection and the risk of infection with HIV, hepatitis C virus, injection related bacterial infections, and drug overdose morality (2011). • 35. The History Of Hollywood And The Film Industry Hollywood and the film industry has been impacting American culture and society for many decades now. Over these decades the film industry and society became entangled. The American people influence what types and how films are produced through their actions of going to the theaters. The industry reacts to the market created by the consumers but also comes up with new and creative ideas. These ideas and innovations are tested by those who see the film and how successful they are. One market that has ebbed and flowed through the times has been religious themed films. America is influenced by the role of religion, especially Christianity and Judaism. An important story from these religious groups is the exodus of the Israelites from the bondage of the Egyptians. The first major movie that Hollywood created to tell this story is the Ten Commandments produced in 1956 by Cecil de Mille starring Charlton Heston as the great leader Moses. Recently the film industry created the movie, Exodus: Gods and Kings, produced in 2014 by Ridley Scott with Christian Bale as Moses. Both of these films try to follow the general framework of the exodus of the Hebrews from the Biblical narrative. Pharaoh of Egypt controlled the enslaved Israelites. Even under that oppressive control the Israelites grew their population, which concerned the Pharaoh of an uprising.
