Song Analysis: Why I Hate These Blurred Lines
I Hate These Blurred Lines 2013 has been a good year. We've had a royal birth, a celebration
marking 50 years of Doctor Who and Andy Murray won Wimbledon making him the first British
male to do so in *77 years. Unfortunately this year also saw the release of what is quite possibly the
worst song ever made: Blurred Lines. It is a monstrosity created by Robin Thicke. The song has
attracted much attention due it its misogynistic video and offensive lyrics. That attention has caused
both positive and negative reactions. Blurred Lines has become the *most downloaded song of 2013
but it has also been banned in several places including at least *9 universities in the UK alone. My
question is, why hasn't it been banned all together? It is shocking really that a song that promotes
date rape and objectifies women is even permitted to play on the radio. The argument, of course, is
that the song does not affiliate itself at all with the subject of rape, and that people who take offence
are, in fact, simply reading too much into the lyrics.. This notion is outrageous. Even if the song was

"In The End", written by the band Linkin Park, the band speaks about the hard times he faced
throughout the entirety of his life. Although, numerous people speak of their trials and tribulations,
Linkin Park speaks of the trials they've faced and how they tried to get through them, but he began
to lose faith and now believes there is no reason to try.
Naturalism is the belief that there is no greater being that created our world and that everything is
made up of material and natural elements. There are several branches of naturalism. These branches
are hedonism, nihilism, existentialism, scientism, and new atheism. The song, "In The End", falls
into the naturalism branch of nihilism. Having nothing to live for and believing that life is worthless,
describes the branch nihilism.
Linkin Park states that, "I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter. I had to
fall to lose it all, but in the end it doesn't even matter." (Linkin Park, In The End, 2001). The band
describes that through all human efforts, whether that be persevering through the hard times to reach
a goal or falling to lose it all, in the end all of our efforts are worthless and bring no satisfaction after

A Comparison Of Maroon V And One Band
Maroon V and OneRepublic Maroon V (five). OneRepublic. Both of these are bands you have
probably heard of on the radio at least once. Maroon V is quite a bit further ahead than OneRepublic
despite the fact that they are just a few years apart in age. The reasoning behind that could be that
they are obviously similar. It is probably just because Adam Levine is a swoon–worthy man.
There are many ways in which the bands are similar, but are there really that many in the ways they
are different? Well, when it comes to how you can differentiate the two, the only way to do it is to
go through the statistics. Both Maroon V and OneRepublic's songs sound somewhat similar, but
what makes them different is where they got their inspiration from. In an interview with Adam
Levine, he stated that his band's inspiration came from a number of singers and bands, including
Michael Jackson, Tupac, Justin Timberlake, Marvin Gaye, and Billy Joel. That was only a few.
OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder stated that when the group gets together, they like to get a little bit of
inspiration from some singers, but they like to make their music by whatever comes to them. The

This summer, I had the opportunity to "recreate" my identity–to really "be myself"– when I went to
a six–week residential summer program in Pittsburgh. As my parents saw me off at the airport, they
cheerfully waved and said, "Be yourself and have fun!" And so I did–or tried to, at least. There, no
one knew me, and I knew no one, so it was the ideal place for me to take a step back and reflect on
who I was–to figure out who I was. There, I wasn't the annoying, (apparently) haughty, and
obnoxiously energetic "baby" of the Sato family. Nor was I the reserved, quiet high school student at
AB, the soccer player, the piano player, the list goes on. I wanted to become someone completely

Maya Angelou was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist known worldwide for
these many things. Throughout her life she had published seven autobiographies, three essay turned
books, and several books of poetry. She was credited by many influencers for her amazing list of
plays, movies, and television shows that had a span of over 50 years. She was and for many more
lifetimes will be a woman that people look up to. Many people know her as Maya Angelou.
Born on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri she was named Marguerite Johnson nicknamed
"Maya" by her brother; her surname is an adaptation of that of her first husband. Due to the breakup
of her parents' marriage, her brother and herself had moved to live with their grandmother in
Stamps, Arkansas. Maya was raped by her mother's boyfriend when she was eight years old and for
the following five years was mute. In her teens she moved to California to live with her mother, and
at 16 gave birth to her son (Angelou, Maya). Which lead to the portrays unsparingly, but with
humour, the hardships of her early years, including the trauma of rape by her mother's lover; it was

Janis Siegel, who has won nine Grammy's and has been nominated for another seventeen Grammy's
is most famous for her diverse musical talent. Janis Siegel was born on July 23rd, 1952 in Brooklyn,
New York. She began learning about music at an early age and she began singing with a trio girl
group at the age of twelve. The group was called The Young Generation. By the time she had
graduated high school, she and her band had already released two singles both produced by Richard
