Editor's Notes

  • #3 When creating a soundtrack a layer of different types of sounds need to be put together to re create the atmosphere of a real life situation for example if your trying to re create a car showroom then you would add an effect reverberation so that an echo is made. If your wanting to show a main road then you would use a sound effect of cars driving past, this creates and atmosphere in the film and doesn’t make it seem unrealistic to the viewers.
  • #4 The different types of sounds that need to be layered into the soundtrack are categorized by the type of sounds which they are; Voice over - someone whos face is not shown in the clip buts voice is included in the advert/film Dialogue - A character who is involved in the films speech parts of the advert may have been pre recorded so that in the editing the voice is added, to save the amount of takes when filming. Sound effects - sound effects is a wide variety of sounds, sound effects are added because in the film the sounds of day to day items or inputs in the film cant be picked up by the camera r are decided that they will improve the film are added in editing so the film matches up, again to make it seem more realistic to the audience. Music - Sometimes the main factor of a advert, the song having a relation to whats going on on screen and helping the advert role a lot smoother because the gaps in speech are filled by the sound of the music & depending on the purpose of the advert it could create feelings in the audience through the tempo of the song. Mention genres of filming and music relation, have to fit together to make the film flow better.
  • #5 There are different sorts of sound effects to match purposes, such as foley sounds for the recognizeable day to day sounds which can be re created by recording them yourself, such as a phone ringing…. (play) these are used to create a realness in the final piece instead of taking it from a sound back, re creating the sound to the sound and way in which you want it to turn out. Ambient sounds are from a sound bank so they have not been recorded they have been made on the computer through different effects, these are added after all the realness has been put back into the film using the foley sounds voice overs etc to add a little something to the video.
  • #6 Diegetic sound is what is seen on screen is what you hear there are no effects added into the sound, any sound that is heard Is shown or known as to where it is coming from. Non diegetic sound is when music is added to a scene to create a feeling in the audience such as in jaws when the shark is going to attack the renound sound is made which has been added into the film for the effect, non diegetic is going against the normal, what differs a film from the reality.
  • #7 I re created a advert by taking the original and making the soundtrack for the whole advert, im going to show you a step by step guide on how to re create the same advert, using Cubase and the different key factors that should be used in soundtrack for a moving image.
