The document compares the preliminary and final versions of a production. It discusses improvements made in brightness and visibility of shots through color correction. It also describes more varied camera angles being used in the final version to better convey meanings. Additionally, it notes that original music was commissioned for the soundtrack of the final production, whereas the preliminary relied only on diegetic sounds. Overall, there are clear enhancements between the versions in use of lighting, angles, and sound design.

2. Brightness and Visibility of shots At the time of editing the preliminary we were incapable of colour correcting the shots, this meant such shots as above were barely visible. This contributed to the overall quality of the preliminary. Contrastingly we were able to alter the hue and saturation of shots when editing our final production. This was vital in some parts as they were barely visible due to the low kui lighting we used in the room, a colour corrected shot can be seen above (beforehand it was hardly visible). A clear difference can be defined between the brightness and visibility of shots between our preliminary and final production. Due to colour correcting that took place during editing.

3. Camera Shots and Angles As seen above, the high angle of the poster is used to give connotations that life on earth is at danger, contrasting the meaning of the poster. The use of the angle has been effective at conveying this meaning and we also featured various other angle to particularly illustrate the earths continuing vulnerability. Within the preliminary the large majority of shots were at eye level, in some circumstances they may be more reinforcing if at alternate angles. Such as the example above, a low angle could be used to connote dominance and violence that would reinforce the teachers mood. There has been a clear transformation from the use of angles from the preliminary to the final production.

4. Use of Sound We decided that for our final production instead of sourcing music from the internet for our production we would ask a friend if he could compose a piece similar to Born of a king- by Prince Negaafellaga. He did so under our request and we were very pleased with the music. The music was then used as a soundtrack to underline the importance of the event, it builds up in climax as the dis-equilibrium unfolds. Within the preliminary we did not source a non-diagetic score for the short clip. Instead we relied on diagtec sound filmed during the shoot. As a way of improving we may have added a score over the to to establish the teachers mood though this wasn’t present. After listening to the quality of the sound in both the preliminary and final production there is a clear improvement. To further notify the importance we featured on sound we re-recorded and synced all of Connie’s dialogue in the news broadcast.
