The connection boxes are available in 3 versions:
1. one side input and 4 outputs on top (SV-22)
2. one side input, 4 outputs on top plus a high-quality

Generally speaking the demands placed on cables for studio
technology are not the same as those placed on stage and live
cables.
For studio cables, great emphasis is placed on good shielding and
perfect audio transmission. This is very important for studio use, as
high interference is almost always expected, due to the sophisticated
peripherals (computers, mixers, etc.).
Studio operators don‘t need cables just for “sound“, but cables
that either match up to the quality of the studio technology or are
even superior. It is very important that the audio signal is passed
on accurately, in a way that‘s true to the original. The following
cables are designed accordingly. Cables for video and
conference technology can be found in Chapter “Media

plans can be found on the last pages of this catalog under “Support“.
READY-MADE CABLE FOR STUDIO APPLICATIONS
The CLUB SERIES MKII has grown into a very popular microphone cable in
the studio sector. It is affordable and offers outstanding electrical and technical
specifications. Due to the high-class insulation, the low capacitance value (58 pF/m /
17.7 pF/ft. wire:wire) and the relatively large wire cross-section of 2 x 0.34 mm2
/
AWG22 safe and neutral transmission is guaranteed even over long distances.

SC-SOURCE MKII HIGHFLEX is the perfect cable for the demanding studio
musician. A transparent ring is provided for personal labelling. The cable
has a wire gauge of 2 x 0.25 mm2

OFC copper strands. It is very easy to reel and guarantees high bending cycles. The
SC‑SOURCE MKII HIGHFLEX has dual shielding (aluminized fleece + braided

Studio technicians regard the SC‑GALILEO 238 as an undisputed reference
product which is essentially without peer in terms of price/performance ratio. It has
a large wire cross-section of 2 x 0.38 mm2
/ AWG21 and an extremely tight dual
copper helical mesh screen. The wire pairs have been embedded into an extra
PVC sheath to keep down the very low wire-to-wire capacitance of ca. 50 pF/m /
15.2 pF/ft. The SC‑GALILEO 238 is soldered with silver solder and supplied with
the NEUTRIK NC3MX-SOM and NC3FX-SOM connectors which are custom-
made for SOMMER CABLE and guarantee extremely low contact resistances owing
to the machined, genuine gold-plated contacts (and the same applies with the female
version!).
The shielding is additionally protected by an insulating sleeve.

NEUTRIK NC3/SOM SPECIAL
MADE FOR SOMMER CABLE
The new SC‑CARBOKAB 225 has a conductor smoothing made of highly
compressed carbon, which is applied directly onto the concentrically stranded
wires. This has the same electrical benefits as a solid wire, yet remains flexible
and guarantees constant excellent values. The good transmission qualities of the
SC‑CARBOKAB 225 reproduce sound in an absolutely linear fashion, even with
long distances of up to 200 meters/650 feet. The shielding has 100% coverage
(metallized fleece + copper mesh). For insulation we use a special HD-PP compound
which guarantees ultra low capacitance.
Removable XCR color-code rings are used for compound identification. The shielding
is additionally protected by an insulating sleeve.

The reference cable for demanding studios in terms of sound precision, dynamics,
transient velocity, spatial imaging and shielding. With the design based on our
star quad multicore, we achieve a crossover capacitance of 36 pF. Hereby we
achieve 100% point-2-point shielding by using tight copper braiding with
a semiconductor, combined with special NEUTRIK-EMC XLRs, custom-
made for us with 360° shielding contacts as protection against high-
frequency interference. For optimum conductivity the 4 wires are each fitted with a
carbon conductor smoothing.

The SC‑GOBLIN patch cable is ideal for studio applications as it is really flexible

We supply our SC‑ONYX twin cable (available in black only) in two versions:
First, the BASIC version with robust, but very reasonably-priced connectors.
We recommend the BASIC variant where space is scarce and low weight is
important.
Second, there is the model with high-grade HICON or NEUTRIK connectors. The
HICON phone plugs are genuine gold-plated, have a decent strain relief and a
solid, PTFE-insulated pin.

We exclusively use our 100% shielded cables SC‑GOBLIN and SC‑SEMICOLON
4-CORE with 5-pin REAN connectors. We offer three versions: one, the BASIC
cable with molded connectors and 3-pin wiring as a somewhat more favorably
priced version, and two higher-quality 100% shielded cables with 5-pin REAN
connectors. These are our SC‑GOBLIN with 3-pin wiring and our SC‑SEMICOLON
4-CORE with 5-pin wiring. The latter is preferred for the connection of effects units
or remote keyboards with a checkback signal function. Of course, it may also be
used as a dubbing cable for tape recorders. These cables with a 5-pole wiring are
available as a black PUR version (great for outdoor use), and also as a white
PVC version, the ideal choice for inconspicuous installation.

These ready-made cables are the perfect choice for the transmission of the 110 �
AES/EBU DMX512 data format. Important note: the use of a standard micro-
phone cable is not recommended due to data and information losses (caused by
the skin effect). In the lighting domain data losses cause a total jam with signal
transmissions, for example when controlling scanner systems. The price of this cable
is very affordable, making it easy to switch from a standard microphone cable to
a good AES/EBU cable. Our AES/EBU cable guarantees error-free data transfer
even over longer distances of up to 100 meters/330 feet. We use the BINARY
234 AES/EBU MKII AES/EBU cable with 100% shielding and the HICON
HI‑X3CM-M and HI‑X3CF-M XLR connectors or the NEUTRIK NC3MX-BAG
and NC3FX-BAG XLR connectors or their respective 5-pole versions with 3-pins
assigned.

Studio application S/P-DIF 75 Ω SC‑FOCUSLINE HIGHFLEX/SC-VECTOR 0.8/3.7 / AWG20 (0.031“)
We supply two very high-grade 75 Ω cables with 100% shielding for wordclock
applications with HICON quality BNC connectors or as a S/P-DIF cable with RCA
plugs. They allow you to bridge even critical lengths with no problems.
The SC‑FOCUSLINE HIGHFLEX version is flexible and suitable for 90% of all
studio and live applications.
We assemble the SC‑FOCUSLINE MS HIGHFLEX with the new HICON
HI-CM01C crimping plug (incl. sleeve protection) which was designed especially
for 75 Ω applications and provides impressively low contact resistance. The second
version is a high-end type for critical lengths exceeding 10 meters/33 feet. The
maximum signal transmission length always depends on the interface quality of the
attached devices.
We use the SDI/HDTV cable SC‑VECTOR 0.8/3.7 / AWG20 (0.031“) and
assemble it with the genuine gold-plated, PTFE-insulated and optically attractive
HICON HI‑CM12-BLK RCA connector.
The SC‑VECTOR 0.8/3.7 / AWG20 (0.031“) is only available with a blue
jacket.

We offer a comprehensive selection of professionally ready-made snakes for rack
wiring in the studio or for live equipment. As some snakes are not required to meet
high demands or impress with a huge number of mating cycles, we offer 2 or
3 quality grades:
For the BASIC quality, we use our numbered SC‑QUANTUM HIGHFLEX studio
or stage multipair and fit it with the lower-priced, very solid HICON standard
connectors.
The PROFESSIONAL quality is supplied with Neutrik connectors. This version
is mainly used in professional studios where technicians demand perfect linear
transmission and perfect shielding. The SC‑QUANTUM HIGHFLEX complies with
the 110 Ω AES/EBU or DMX standard, making it suitable for both analog and
digital applications.
With some models we offer an extra level of quality using the SC‑PEGASUS,
probably the best audio multipair available on the market. The SC‑PEGASUS is
cross-wired and supplied with gold-plated NEUTRIK XLR connectors. With a
wire-to-twire capacitance of only 35 pF/m / 10.7 pF/ft. and triple shielding (helical
copper screen + foil on each wire pair + braided copper mesh overall) it is the
absolute reference connection lead in the studio domain. The SC‑PEGASUS, too,
can either be used for analog or (when cross-wired) digital tasks.
Please note: Professional users mostly use snakes with only 4 or 8 pairs, because
multipairs with more than 8 pairs are very heavy and with some synthesizers,
workstations, mixing boards and other units, these heavy cables can put so much
strain on the PCB-mounted jacks into which they are plugged that over time the
terminal pins of those jacks can actually come loose and be pulled out of the circuit
board.

The following cables are special insert snakes for mixing consoles with unbalanced
inserts, where Send and Return are combined in a common stereo phone plug
socket on the console. To connect them to an effects device, the signal has to be
split onto 2 single plugs. This is exactly what our snakes do. And it inevitably means
that one side is equipped with e.g. 8 stereo phone plugs and the other side with
the corresponding 16 mono phone plugs or 8 XLR male and 8 XLR female plugs.

in various configurations. We use our flexible 8-pair multipair SC‑MISTRAL
with paired insulation and Sub-D EMC-conformant all-metal connectors made in
Germany.
The standard TASCAM configuration complies with the analog Tascam DA88
standard. It is also used for Yamaha analog cards and for Digidesign interfaces
as well as for AES/EBU transmission (Tascam)!
The AES/EBU standard configuration complies with Yamaha’s digital AES/EBU
2 x 8 channel standard. Please make sure that depending on the units connected,
the respective permissible maximum cable length is not exceeded to ensure an error-
free transmission. Information about the maximum permissible cable lengths can be
found in the technical data sheets for the hardware you are using. The respective
assignments can be found on the final pages of this catalog under “Wiring
Diagrams“.

The CLUB SERIES MKII has become a very popular microphone cable in the
studio. It comes at a good price and offers outstanding electrical and technical
specifications. Due to its high-quality insulation, the low capacitive value
(58pF/m / 17.7 pF/ft. wire:wire) and the relatively large wire cross-section of
2 x 0.34 mm2
/ AWG22, safe and neutral transmission is guaranteed even over long

The SC‑SOURCE MKII HIGHFLEX is the perfect cable for demanding radio
engineers.
It has a wire cross-section of 2 x 0.25 mm2
/ AWG23 and superfine 0.05 mm/
AWG44 OFC copper strands! It is very easy to reel and guarantees high bending
cycles.
The SC‑SOURCE MKII HIGHFLEX has a dual shielding (aluminized fleece +
braided copper mesh screen) with 100% optical coverage and remains totally noise-
and pop-free even in precarious environments. Due to the use of a chalk-free soft
PVC it is very cold-resistant. We supply this cable with gold-plated HICON and
NEUTRIK connectors and transparent 5 cm/2“ heat-shrink tubing (unshrinked) to
hold your own labels.
In combination with the HI-MARLIN XLR connectors, which repel direct water jets
or percolating moisture, there is also a waterproof version available, ideal for use in
amusement parks, in the ship and boat building industry or at outdoor events such as
Christmas markets.
The SC‑SOURCE MKII HIGHFLEX is available in black. The screen is protected by
an insulating sleeve. For identification purposes, we use removable color-code rings.

The SC‑SQUARE 4-CORE MKII HIGHFLEX cable has a helical mesh screen
with metallized foil fleece and 4 x AWG25 wires with the opposite leads combined
pairwise. This is to optimize the electrical and capacitive values (39 pF/m /
11.9 pF/ ft. wire:wire crossover) while ensuring a linear response.
The thick PVC jacket is robust and highly flexible. The screen is protected by an
insulating sleeve. We supply this cable with gold-plated NEUTRIK NC3MX-B

Connectors made by Damar+Hagen have become the international standard
and are used exclusively in the professional broadcasting studio domain. They are
100% plug-compatible with LEMO EAN OS 650. The advantage of the Triax audio
connectors is obvious: they are small in diameter, have low contact resistances,
guarantee countless mating cycles and are absolutely dependable. We assemble
the connectors with our highly flexible SC‑SCUBA 14 HIGHFLEX lead which is
shielded by a tight copper mesh screen. The 3.5 mm/1/8“ mini phone plug to
2 x Audio Triax version is ideal for adapting external signal sources like Mini Disc
or portable DAT. The connectors are coded with colored sleeve supports. Custom

This high-end cable includes a gold-plated NEUTRIK NC3FX-B cable jacket or
NC3MX-B cable plug, depending on the gender ordered, and two gold-plated
HICON HI‑CM06‑WHT/HI-CM06-RED phono connectors. These are genuine

Broadcast Video CABLE REEL BNC 75 � – 3 G/6 G-SDI
We supply a lightweight and very robust SCHILL cable reel which has a fixing
brake and a practical carrying handle. It is equipped with our flexible SC‑VECTOR
video cable which is suitable for outdoor transmission and, because of its 100%
shielding (copper mesh screen + conductive AL/fleece), perfect for long distances
with very good image transmission. For HD-SDI and 3G-SDI transmissions or
extremely long transmission paths, we recommend the reels loaded with the
SC‑VECTOR PLUS 1.2/4.8 DZ / AWG18 (0.042“) DZ or SC‑VECTOR PLUS
1.6L/7.3 / AWG16 (0.055“) 3G SDI cable types.
The reel is fitted with a front panel and an insulated BNC crimp panel socket, the
cable features a HICON or NEUTRIK BNC connector.

The LONG DISTANCE version can be used over distances of up to 100 meters/
330 ft. and more and is supplied with the TRANSIT video cable or the TRANSIT
KOMBI video cable (+ 2 audio lines).
A version with a single-sided open end for installation is available on request.
We use high-quality HICON BNC connectors and sleeve supports in
the following colors:
We supply lightweight and very sturdy SCHILL cable reels. These are loaded with
our flexible TRANSIT video cable which is ideally suited for patch applications and
outdoor work due to the use of fine single strand wires.
The reel has a front panel fitted with three, five or seven color-coded, recessed
NEUTRIK BNC panel-mount sockets. For better protection of the sockets, the BNC
panel is slanted. The cable is fitted with three, five or seven color-coded HICON
BNC connectors. The reels we select have a large inner core to prevent the sensitive
insulation on the video cable from getting damaged.
We also supply a 5-wire version with two additional balanced audio
lines (TRANSIT MOBILE), fitted with two optional XLR lines (NEUTRIK
NC3FDL1 and NC3MX).

Hardly anyone can imagine that a good antenna cable can have such a dramatic
impact on the TV picture, and so it‘s depressing to see the poor quality of most cables
supplied with TV sets. In most cases the living room is cramped with poorly insulated
hardware like TV sets, video recorders, cordless telephones, computers, and so
on, that are spewing electro-magnetic waves all over the place and therefore more

Frustrated about losses ?
A YUV cable is also called “color difference“ cable and contains three separate
unbalanced 75 � lines. It is mainly used for connections in video technology (e.g.,
on “progressive scan projectors“) and to connect the DVD player. For transmissions in
the HDTV format, we recommend our SC‑VECTOR cable.
For perfect image signal reproduction, a transmission distance of 20 m/65 ft.
should not be exceeded. However, if this cannot be avoided, we recommend the
TRANSIT 3 cable from the “Bulk Cable – Video“ section. With TRANSIT 3,
transmission distances of 50 m/160 ft. and beyond are no longer a problem.
We supply three different types of YUV cables:
The HICON basic variant, the highly flexible TRANSIT MINI FLEX round
cable with gold-plated, POM-insulated HICON HI‑CM06 RCA connectors or the
flat SC‑ALTERA SPLIT version with gold-plated, PTFE-insulated HICON HI-CM12
crimp RCA connectors with sleeve support.
The latter is especially well-suited for YUV applications, because a crimp connection
will always guarantee lower contact resistances as opposed to a solder connection
(i.e., losses at the junction between cable and plug are virtually impossible).

The following cable adapters are suitable for connecting the 15-pole VGA input on
computer monitors and projectors with the component output (YUV/RGB) on your
AV receiver or game console or the SCART output on your digital TV receiver.
Please note, that the monitor or projector must be able to process signals in the RGB
or RGBS (= RGB + FBAS) format, otherwise the picture will remain black.
In addition, we recommend our DVI/VGA adapter DVS2-FM for the connection to a
DVI-I socket (for more details refer to the “Connectors“ section).
Note: The RGB signal quality with DVI is equivalent to VGA, therefore we only
offer the VGA standard.
