A Comparison of Learner-Centered Applications in Oman and Other Countries

What Does Access & Equity Mean in Online Education?

In the School of Medicine students have identified that student-led eLearning development can evolve lifelong learning skills and encourage interprofessional and collaborative working. Furthermore, creating learning resources and peer-led teaching activities not only demonstrate students’ understanding of the curriculum, but also helps them gain a deeper understanding of the subject material, as well as pedagogical skills.

Shaping the digital future of FE and skills - learner experience

Key topics included ensuring lessons are short and include peer collaboration to prevent online fatigue, providing all learners access to learning materials, technology, and spaces, and helping learners engage with online and independent learning since it differs from in-person classes. Special consideration was given to September starters who will not know their tutors or peers and require crucial induction support, as well as addressing challenges with practical work and providing timely feedback to learners.

Online programs at SDSU maintain the same standards and accreditation as on-campus programs.

Software-based Clicker Systems for Classroom Activities of Secondary and Tert...
Workshop: Software-based clicker systems turn all the computers, mobiles, tablets and other Internet-browsable devices into clickers. It is an undisputed educational technology with significant pedagogical values – for formative assessment, engaging in discussions, recording attendance, conducting course/module evaluation, and many others! Commonly, three types of questions - multiple-choice, true-false and open-ended – are available, along with the option for anonymous responses.
Different clickers will be introduced but only Socrative will be facilitated as it is free and most efficient in terms of usability factors.

The Educational Equity Imperative: Leveraging Technology to Empower Learning ...

Speak Up 101 Webina
Project Tomorrow conducted the annual Speak Up research project in 2017 to collect feedback from K-12 stakeholders on digital learning. Over 400,000 students, teachers, parents, and administrators provided input. Key findings included that more students have access to mobile devices at school, with 31% assigned a personal device. Teachers reported using online content and apps most frequently and needing more planning time and support to integrate technology effectively. Parents strongly support technology use in schools and see it as important for their child's future success, but their greatest concern is uneven technology use between teachers.
Using social media to support learning in higher education
My keynote presentation considers how social media and digital technologies can be utilised effectively to enhance both informal and formal learning. Drawing upon the 5C Framework (Nerantzi and Beckingham 2014) I will share examples of how social media is used to connect, communicate, curate, collaborate and create; and through a student-staff partnership called ‘SMASH’ (Social Media for Academic Studies at Hallam) how with my students we have explored how social media can be used for ‘learning activities’ within and beyond the classroom, to ‘organise learning’ using relevant social media tools to curate and organise information, and the importance of ‘showcasing learning’ to enable students to openly share outcomes and projects.

FETC 2019 Digital Vsion Satements
Julie Evans of Project Tomorrow discussed developing stakeholder responsive vision statements for new digital environments. She examined research from the Speak Up survey showing parents want schools to teach skills for college and careers but have concerns about too much screen time. Evans presented a case study approach to craft vision statements that address these inconsistencies by focusing on parents. Participants worked in pairs to develop 35-word statements appreciating parent views while explaining digital vision values. Evans recommended messaging emphasizing skill development, personalized learning, and extended learning beyond textbooks.

The Pepper Online Professional Learning Network was developed as a system to provide high-quality, personalized, professional learning opportunities to a growing community of learners. An important and critical component of Pepper and its ability to support personalized learning is the capacity in the system for the creation of professional learning communities.
Educators in Pepper have the opportunity to create a personal network of instructional coaches and peers from their school, District, or across the country. Educators use these community networks to share progress as they interact with content collections, discuss course work in portfolios and discussion boards, and share chunks of content from a particular course in small groups.
It is within these communities that the individual participants have the chance to engage in a structured discussion around the challenges and successes in their education programs. The communities can be virtual or face-to-face, but in all cases, the ability to make the learning visible and communicate their results to others who are engaged in the same program, strengthens the collective learning for all.Speak Up Participation 101

Social media is basically a structure that combines individuals, communities, companies or organizations that can share their interests, attitudes, values, lifestyles, visions and friendships. In the field of eLearning this structure can be used in many ways and through different web tools. It can provide educators with an opportunity to engage learners in the online classroom, as well as to support development of learner skills and competencies.
This article argues that it is necessary to move blended learning beyond learning management systems and engage students in an active use of the web as a resource for their self-regulated study, for problem solving and collaborative activities. The case study explored in this paper explains the role of social media in promoting cognitive and meta-cognitive learners development while using a constructivist teaching and learning approach. This paper presents the findings from a specific case study, as well as general guidance to instructors for incorporating social media in a blended learning environment, including the “Traditional Classroom”. It is also suggested a limitation of the use of learning management systems to cover the development of social competences and it is argued that self-regulated students are supported by personal web tools and engaged in different kinds of social networks.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
