                          2. Raising awareness

your cause to donate to it.

                         • Direct marketing
Come to our event &        – Facebook event
Support our cause!         – Event listings




NOW: Standards also include a Facebook
fan page and maybe even a Twitter account


                             Take steps to end global poverty.
These issues are not specific to non-profits.

  BUT
  Non-profit media campaigns tend to be run by:
        • Volunteers
        • Employees with no marketing experience
        • People with limited social media knowledge


People who don’t really “get” it.

                                     Take steps to end global poverty.
Tips:
• Leverage existing communities
  - Communities YOU actively participate in


• Contribute as an individual
  - Engage YOUR contacts as brand ambassadors
  - Conversations & Relationships work best


Tell us something interesting
that we can relate to.

Issues:

• Time & Commitment          – Not a standalone strategy
• Understanding the Cause
• Understanding the Medium   – Not sustainable $$$

• Know your strengths & weaknesses
     and address them

          • Be positive
          • Sell hope, not despair
          • Spread the word but don’t cold call
          • Thank people publicly
          • You know more people than you think
          • Really understand the tools and cause

  • 4. These issues are not specific to non-profits. BUT Non-profit media campaigns tend to be run by: • Volunteers • Employees with no marketing experience • People with limited social media knowledge People who don’t really “get” it. Take steps to end global poverty.
  • 5. Tips: • Leverage existing communities - Communities YOU actively participate in • Contribute as an individual - Engage YOUR contacts as brand ambassadors - Conversations & Relationships work best Tell us something interesting that we can relate to. Take steps to end global poverty.
