2. WHY DOES IT RESONATE FOR YOU?
• I chose to focus on the first United Nation Millennium
Development Goals because poverty and hunger is a serious
issue. No human should ever suffer from not having enough
food to provide for themselves. This issue resonates for me
because my passion is helping my community and just helping
people in general. I went on a mission trip to the Philippines
back in 2017 and it was a life changing experience. The people
there suffer from poverty and hunger, and it was amazing to
see how happy and thankful they were knowing that they did
not have anything. They provided me with food that they
could have given to their own family. I was so thankful that
there were people out there who thought of others first,
knowing that they did not have anything compared to what I
had. They inspired me to help those in need.

3. HOW CAN YOUR INTEREST BE APPLIED
LOCALLY?
• My interest can be applied locally by inspiring others to help those in need. Helping people
is the right thing to do because there are many people who have a story and how it got them
to that position. There are many people who are also born into poverty, and it is difficult to
over come those obstacles with the lack of resources. I know what people go through that
suffer from poverty and hunger because I have experienced it as well during my childhood.
Communities thrive by helping each other and this can rally a whole community if they are
informed about the issue of poverty and hunger. This inspiration can reach to many people
and can help fight poverty and hunger by supporting the United Nation’s goals.

4. WHERE CAN YOU PERSONALLY MAKE
THE GREATEST CONTRIBUTION?
• Personally, the greatest contribution that I believe I could make is to spread awareness using
social media. Social media is a powerful tool, and it can reach an audience all over the
world. I could expand my local community to a worldwide community and help those that
are facing poverty and hunger. Creating a website that spreads awareness to fight against
poverty and hunger can reach an audience that would want to provide aid. I can set up a
fundraiser page where people can donate money and food. This tool would be the greatest
contribution to help those that are fighting poverty and hunger.

5. IS THERE A FEATURE OF SOCIAL MEDIA THAT
CAN BE UNIQUELY APPLIED TO THIS GOAL?
• There is a feature of social media that can be uniquely applied to my goal. I believe
Instagram is the best tool I could use because of how popular the app is and the unique
features it has. Instagram has all the features it needs to spread awareness and to reach the
audience worldwide. The profile can be used to provide a link to the cause, describing who
they are, and show analytics on the demographics they are reaching to. Pictures, videos, and
live streams can be used to share and describe about the issues with poverty and hunger, and
how we need to come together as a community to help those fight against it. People can
repost and share it from their accounts which can spread the awareness at a faster rate by
reaching to other people.
