2. Literature Review On Teamwork
Literature Review
Teamwork is generally considered as the willingness of a group of people to work together to
achieve a common aim. Teams play a major role in our lives. Working in groups is probably an
inevitable life experience. Teams are everywhere: in educational places, workplaces, and
neighborhood. This review will focus on three themes which emerge repeatedly throughout the
literature reviewed. These themes are: student s benefits from learning in groups, the importance of
teamwork skills in work and school, and teamwork as a key to success for teachers and
paraeducators.
Teamwork has a big amount of advantages which can be got by every member of the team. The
article Student s benefits from learning in groups (n.d.) illustrates the positive sides of group
working and things that should be done in order to achieve benefits. Harvard publishes a guide to
working in teams, with information significant to both tutors and students. Methods are the
following: organizing the work and managing team activities; including everyone and their ideas;
leading the group and focusing on a direction. As Hartley and Robson assert (1999, as cited ... Show

The article by Elrick (2015) has the same argument about effectiveness of group work,
specifically at school and workplace. Profitable teamwork and collaboration not only help with
completing tasks but can also open your eyes to new ideas and widen your outlook. As Wagner
(2015) asserts, students preparing for future careers will find that skills obtained in college can
support cooperation attributes that are very much required at places of employment; they also
gain experience and learn how to advise. Moreover, the writer claims that knowledge and
technical skills are not enough, not being willing to collaborate can be a red flag for an employer.
Consequently, there is no school or workplace without teamwork because it leads to benefit and

3. The Pros and Cons of Home Schooling Essay
Advantages and Disadvantages of Home Schooling
When it comes to the education of today s youth, the idea of home schooling is a highly debated
topic. Many people are for home schooling; similarly, many people are against it. The basis of this
debate is one of great importance: our children need an education that prepares them for the world.
It is the parents right to decide how best to obtain this goal.
Advantages unique to home schooling include its convenience, looser attendance policies, and
individualized attention. Of special importance to the community, is that with more home schooled
children, the cost of running public schools is reduced. With fewer enrollments, there is less
demand for facilities and supplies, thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And, for families that do extensive traveling, go on prolonged family vacations, are in the military
and cannot keep a steady residency, or for a child who has a clinical or terminal illness, this is a
blessing.
For parents who wish to have their children home schooled, it is fairly simple to accomplish,
granted that one parent is willing to stay at home and be the teacher. In the state of New Jersey, no
certification is needed for a parent to begin home schooling (Stephens). Parents teach their children
to the best of their ability with the knowledge and skills they themselves already posses. In cases
where a parent has previously earned a college degree and is currently out of work or is working
from home, it can be beneficial to both the parent and the child.
Parents who home school their children argue that their children receive a better and more fulfilling
education because of the individualized attention. Today s public schools are becoming too
overcrowded and the quality of education is decreasing. Home schooling requires no set curriculum;
however, parents must prove equivalent academic instruction to a local superintendent (Stephens).
With this, parents can be more focused on teaching their child subjects that truly interest them. In
some cases, the child also receives a greater depth of knowledge because there is more time to
complete research. With public schooling comes test pressure and anxiety. Testing is not

4. The Wizard Of Oz Character Analysis
Judy garland who is purportedly named Dorothy dale in the move the wizard of Oz is the main
protagonist in most of the Oz novels. Frank Baum created the fictional character who has been
idolized in the American movie culture because of the character she has played in most movies,
books, animations, games and on TV. At first she appeared in the novel the wonderful wizard of Oz
which was created in 1900 and thereafter, she was able to reappear in most of the sequels showing
her importance in various adaptations, notably, in the 1939 film named the wizard of Oz
(Pfefferman, 2013). in the movie, the wizard of Oz, she acts as a young orphaned girl from one
of the farms in Kansas which was owned by uncle henry and aunt Em. Life in the farm is
considered to be composed of hard work and it provided little opportunity for Dorothy to have
excitement in the farm. She is able to express her desires of exploring what was beyond Kansas
through the use of a wishful song of what might be lying at the other end of the rainbow. One of
the richest people in the town gets a permit of obtaining her dog, Toto, and she tries to save her
life by running away. She changes her mind and decided to go back home when a tornado drops
from the sky and everything changes radically in the movie.
Among some of the well remembered film appearances which garland played, one of the most
famous role was acting as Dorothy in the movie the wizard of Oz back in 1939. She has been

5. Minimum Mean Square Error Among Ortogonal Frequancy...
The one with the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) among Ortogonal Frequancy Division
Multiplexing candidate signals is selected for transmission. From the results, it can be seen that a
proposed scheme based iterative partial transmit sequence can be easily implemented with low
combining complexity, still maintaining a better BER performance and peak to average power
ratio reduction, compared to the conventional partial transmit sequence approach. In mobile
communication environment due to fading and multipath, the received signal suffers from random
phase fluctuations. This in turn makes coherent demodulation schemes rather unattractive and
impractical. Malode and Patil (2010) proposed the peak to average power ratio reduction

Chin Liang Wang and Yuan Ouyang ( 2005) introduce a Selected mapping method .The Selected
mapping method approach provides good performance for peak to average power ratio reduction
reduction, but it requires a bank of Inverse Fast Fourier Transforms to generate a set of candidate
transmission signals, and this requirement usually results in high computational complexity. The
author suggests low complexity conversions to replace the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform blocks in
the conventional Selected mapping method method. Two novel Selected mapping method schemes
were proposed with much lower complexity than the conventional one; the first method uses only
one Inverse Fast Fourier Transform block to generate the set of candidate signals, while the second
one uses two Inverse Fast Fourier Transform blocks. Computer simulation results show that, as
compared to the conventional Selected mapping method scheme, the first proposed approach has
slightly worse peak to average power ratio reduction reduction performance and the second
proposed one reaches almost the same peak to average power ratio reduction reduction
performance. Chin Liang wang continues his investigation by oversampling two times of the
Ortogonal Frequancy Division Multiplexing signals by applying peak search and partial
interpolation method. The proposed scheme with two times

6. Nuclear Weapons And The World War II
Nuclear weapons were a crucial aspect throughout the history of the Cold War. Scientific and
military development in the early 20th Century had demonstrated the potential of atoms and other
properties to create large scale nuclear weapons. The developments of the arms race within the
context of World War I and World War II further led to the emergence of nuclear weapons for
combat. Countries such as the United States, USSR, and Britain also sought to create effective
nuclear weapons. Subsequently, the major application of nuclear weapons emerged when the US
dropped two atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Whereas President Truman mainly
sought to protect Americans from further deaths by launching atomic bombs in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki, the USSR posed a different question. Did Truman consciously drop the bombs to
intimidate the USSR? Therefore, the Soviet Union interpreted the use of these nuclear weapons as
an anti Soviet move. This further set the basis of the Cold Warand the nuclear arms race between
the two countries. In this case, the United States use of nuclear weapons in the Second World War
was crucial to intimidate the USSR and its emerging global dominance to set the foundation for the
emergence of the Cold War.
The rapid surrender and destruction of Japan was a clear indication that the US had managed to
become a global leader in weapons development. However, there was also more reason to suspect
the real reasons for the use of nuclear weapons in

7. Questions On Oral Corrective Feedback
Oral Corrective Feedback Corrective feedback is defined as a reply to learner expressions having
an error and its major role is to offer guidance and insight to teachers on what they need to provide
to their learners in order to promote growth and comprehension of the second language. This paper
seeks to identify the various types of oral corrective feedback through studying of previous
literatures published on corrective feedback which are broadly classified into two categories:
prompts and reformulations. Despite the existence of shortcomings associated with corrective
feedback, the receptiveness of students to corrective feedback indicates its significance in
enhancing the learningof second languages. According to Lyster and Ranta, six different types of
CF exist but these can further be broadly classified into two categories; prompts and reformulations
(37). Prompts include different types of signals that push a learner to self repair. These prompt
signals include metalinguistic clues, repetition, elicitation, and clarification requests.
Reformulations, on the other hand, include explicit correction and recasts, which provide the
learner with target formulations of their non target output. Moreover, corrective feedback could be
classified as either implicit or explicit. Recasts are on many occasions considered implicit, but can
also become explicit due to certain characteristics such as length, linguistic target, and changes
made to the original utterance.

8. Morality of Today Essay
Olympian morality was potent in ancient Greek society yet it is incomplete by today s moral
standards of what is acceptable. Modern morality is not only taught through actions, stories or
experiences however constructed by the feelings within. In both, The Iliad and the Hesiod,
external actions are the most important however, without logos, a look into the soul no decisions
are made by choice. Eris, the force of pulling apart and Eros, the force of pushing together were
vital pieces in the aspect of moralitythrough traditional Greek society. Ancient morality combined
with natural science and logos creates a balance that allows for perfect moral structure. Olympian
morality was built upon the aspect that the Gods determined human existence... Show more content

Socrates believed that justice and desire could not be determined without reason and logic
(Reno). Going along with Socrates ideas, Eris and Eros can be confined in the soul but the
structure of Olympian morality will never be destroyed. Destroying Eris would also destroy Eros
and not only would no bad exist, but nothing good would exist either. Therefore the Sophist s
mentality could never become the mentality in which society is driven by. If all good and bad
were removed from society there would be nothing to fuel desires, hopes, dreams, hardships or
emotions. Preluding to the Trojan War, Helen is always property. Never once is choice an option of
Helens. She is given as a prize, a trophy, to the one who will triumph over the other (Homer). No
one considered asking Helen what she truly desired; therefore to settle the issue, men were killed
in warfare to come to a conclusion that should have been determined by choice. Women were not
deemed important figures in ancient society and men ruled the world in which they lived. Until
Socratic ideals, one can say that women were only the property of men. Socrates tried to explore
the world of femininity and discover the soul; he was killed for believing that there is more to an
individual then what the divine interprets (Plato s Apology). Unlike ancient times, a war of nations
would not break out over a romantic conflict because women and men can choose whom they love.

9. Persuasive Essay On Mass Extinctions
Anthony D. Barnosky and his coauthors state that paleontologists characterize mass extinctions as
times when Earth loses more than three quarters of its species in geologically short interval...
(Barnosky). Since the life on Earth came to existence it has gone through multiple mass extinctions,
five to be exact. Throughout these extinctions, there has been the loss of millions of species that
will never come back into existence. When the term mass extinctionis heard the first thought that
most come to mind would be the extinction of dinosaurs, and how it is said that a giant asteroid
crashed into Earth causing them to die off. Mass extinctions are usually the result of some
catastrophic event. Are we in the midst of the sixth mass extinction? A view from the world of
amphibians by David B. Wake and Vance T. Vendenburg, describes the last five of the mass
extinctions occurring because of natural disasters of some sort or shifts in the climate, whether it
be the asteroid that took out the dinosaurs or the Earth becoming too hot for life to live (Wake,
Venddenburg). Mass extinctions take a major toll on Earth and having another could potentially
lead to drastic changes in the human population and the way we live. Being in the twenty first
century, the last thing that would cross a person s mind would be a sixth mass extinction, yet the
rate society is going at it is among us. While the five other mass extinctions have been due to
climate change and natural disasters the

11. The Worst Economic Depression Ever Felt Theu.s. Essay
The worst economic depression ever felt in U.S. history was not only felt in north America, but
this also became a worldwide economic slump. The Great Depression caused by many factors
raised a question of how will the we take a step into recovery. The Election of president Franklin
D. Roosevelt in 1932 was the beginning of the shaping of the U.S. government interaction with
American citizens. Roosevelts campaign helped him win the election of 1932 with his laudable
ideas of how to combat the effects of the depression. These Ideas were a set of programs intended
to fix the depression and prevent future depressions as they were categorized by their function of
relief, recovery, and reform. Although these programs from the New Dealdidn t end the depression
they did help the U.S. towards economic progress, the program with the most significant impact on
the U.S. economy would be the Social SecurityAct.
During and after WWI the U.S. was the main creditor to many countries and provider of several
goods in Europe. While European countries suffered the U.S. prospered from the war as their
economic stasis grew. The stock market being one of the biggest influence to get regular
Americans to invest in the stock market had its downfall as many borrowed heavily in order to
invest, it soon reached its highest peak and began its decline in 1929. It was advertised as a quick
way to make big bucks. The day that we know today as black Tuesday was what ushered the

The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Women, Infants, Children)
programs both have similar jobs. Both programs attempt to help feed struggling families. In the
past SNAP allowed members to purchase food staples and prepackaged food, but a recent bill is
being made in order to address these rules. These changes will deactivate members abilities to
purchase prepackaged food, and has limited them to purchase only food staples. These food
staples included foods such as rice, bread, fruits, etc. While the desired new rules for SNAP are
similar to the current rules of WIC, the bill will also attempt to allow members of WIC to purchase
white potatoes in addition to their food staples. Multiple commodities economic standing will
experience larger impacts on supply and demandfrom this proposed bill s changes and
implications. As SNAP shifts to strictly staple foods, the economic impacts will implement
changes on the supply and demand of rice. In the short run the price of rice will rise and the
demand curve of rice will shift outward. This effect will take place because of SNAP s proposed
limitations. If the members of SNAP are limited to only food staples they will find themselves
demanding more rice than before. This shift will cause an upward movement along the supply
curve. There will be an increase in the quantity of rice supplied in the long run because the demand
will have grown from the limitations placed on SNAP consumers that suppliers will have

Throughout his life Malcolm X faced oppression from white people. From having his family s
house burned by the KKK, to having his father killed by a white supremacy group and leaving
his mother destroyed, Malcolm had a deep sense of hatred towards white people in America.
This resulted in Malcolm developing this philosophy that black people should in no way accept
the help of white people. While he was in prison learning about the nation of Islam, his views on
white America grew strong. Leading to his advocacy to Pan Africanism. Malcolm shares in the
book, that freedom, independence and self respect could never be achieved by the Negro in
America, and that therefore the Negro should leave America to the white man and return to his
African land of origin. He simply believed that unless black people create a black nation, blacks
in America could never be economically stable due to the discrimination they will continuously
face. Later on in the book, he contradicts himself after his trip to Mecca and changes his views.
Neglecting his past belief of Pan Africanism, Malcolm came to the realization that blacks in
America could be successful with the participation of whites fighting alongside them for equal
rights. This came to be as a result of Malcolm witnessing race problems from different perspective

Comparative Essay: Beowulf The Book and The Movie
Beowulf, a hero, which is a savior figure. He stands up for a cause and belief against great odds.
When Beowulf was composed, England was changing from a pagan to a Christian culture.
Beowulf reflects both pagan and Christian traditions. In this essay, I will compare the 2007 British
American 3D motion film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Neil Gaines And Roger
Avary, and also the book version mentioning the personality of Beowulf, Grendel, Grendel s mom
and the battle with the dragon. In the movie and poem Beowulf s personality is shown differently
and expressed in a different form. In the movie and poem Beowulf there was many differences and
similarities that were noticeable such as the portrayal of Grendel s mother, Grendel being the son

In the 2007 movie, other than the setting and plot, it was totally different from the original poem,

similarities were when Beowulf s heroic characteristics and the severing of Grendel s arm ;
however, the movie mentioned the seductive scene of Grendel s mother and how the product of
this sin is his son the dragon, while in the text this beast is regarded as a rogue monster. As

In the 1750 s the American colonies were still under the oppressive ruling of Great Britain. While
the British had a desire to expand their colonies, they ran into trouble with the French and Native
Americans. Both countries had expanded their trading areas, which now overlapped one another.
This marked the beginning of the French and Indian War. The French and their allied Native
Americans were now at war with Great Britain and its allies. The British found themselves losing

They simply asked to have representation in the British Parliament (Henretta, 2017). This idea
was quickly disapproved. The American colonies began protesting against the changes that Great
Britain was making. Many individuals wanted to protest in peace so they began to send delegates
to petition for the repeal of the new tax laws. Others did not care for peace and boycotted by using
mobs to destroy British goods and stores (Dunkerly, n.d.). In response to the violence, Great Britain
allowed for a small shift in power to happen within the colonies. Charles Townshend strongly
supported the taxation on the American colonies and soon passed the Townshend Act and the
Revenue Act. These acts caused a revival of the colonies to fight against unjust taxation (Henretta,
2017). This led to more boycotts, violence, and political uprisings. Great Britain grew fearful of the
rebellious colonies and repealed the acts that Townshend put in place, which created some peace
between the British and the colonies.
Many people, who did not approve of the way the colonies chose to protest, began to write popular
books, letters, and pamphlets. This sparked the real political movement of the American colonies.
Popular names such as Samuel Adams began to convince towns to meet up and start thinking of the
rights that they should have (Milestones: 1750 1775, n.d.). British parliament had not learned from

23. Pear Shape Diamond Engagement Ring Pros And Cons
The pear shape diamond cut is known as a modified brilliant cut diamond, which is a combination of
two different cuts. Those cuts are the marquise cut and the round brilliant. It combines the best of
both cuts into an interesting diamond shape.
Pear shape diamonds have to be evenly cut since the parts of the curve should match on the
shoulders. The typical length of the pear cut ranges from 1.40 to 1.70, and the choice of ratio is
often a personal preference. Some women like long diamonds while others want wider diamonds.

A 1 carat brilliant round might cost thousands while a 1 carat pear shape will be a fraction of the
cost. That cost depends on the diamonds and metal that accompanies the pear shape diamond, too.
Cons of the Pear Shaped Diamond Engagement Ring
Bow Tie Effect
With some diamonds, you ll get a bow tie effect that will mar the interior of the diamond. It s a
light to dark shadow that looks like a bow tie inside the diamond. While some people think the
bow tie gives the diamond character, others don t appreciate anything blocking the light of the
diamond. The pear shape cut will always have a bow tie effect, but in some diamonds it s more
pronounced.
Symmetry
As mentioned previously, the shoulders or upper curves of the pear cut should be symmetrical. In
some bad cuts, you ll see two shoulders that don t match. While this isn t common, it can happen
with some bad cutters. It s vital to be aware of this problem.
Pointed Tip
The pointed tip of the diamond is prone to breakage. It s also the spot where there can be
inclusions or flaws because it s the spot that was closest to the edge of the raw diamond before it
was cut. You can minimize damage by having an extra prong to protect the fragile point of the

The modification of company manufactured vehicles, otherwise known as Car Tuning , has
become increasingly widespread over the past few years. It has developed from industry
application into being a popular hobby in which cars are modified by their owners in order to
optimize performance, handling and perhaps add a personal touch. This type of activity might be
mistaken by many to be reserved for racing junkies , but if we take a closer look, it actually
proves to be quite beneficial in terms of fuel consumption and safety. Superchargers or
turbochargers are known to increase engine efficiency and power, whereas advanced suspension
and braking tend to drastically upgrade handling and thus safety. A carefully designed exhaust
system can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A spark plug ignites the mixture and the combustion takes place. In this phase, timing is crucial
since the spark must occur when the air/fuel mixture is compressed to the optimal point. Else,
the combustion will not work as effectively as it should. Once the combustion takes place, the
piston is pushed back down Now, the exhaust valves evacuate the product of the combustion and
the engine is ready for another cycle. Here, we notice the importance of the valves that must
open at the correct time to fill the combustion chamber and then to clear this chamber from the
product of the combustion. The timing of the valves is controlled by the Cam Shaft. This part
of the engine decides on the correct timing: thus filling the combustion chamber when needed
and evacuating it when it is full. Factory, or stock , cars are made for average driving conditions
and driver expectations. Sacrifices in performance, efficiency, and even handling are made for
more comfort (Wikipedia). Car tuning is not yet very popular among people especially here in
Lebanon. While people may think that car tuning is only for race junkies , the fact is that it
actually improves the efficiency, performance, handling, and power of the car. The personal
motive behind car tuning is usually personalizing the car to suit its owner s needs, driving style,
and personality. Engine efficiency is a major issue in the car industry. Instead of completely

25. Analysis Of The Play Macbeth
Abigail Castillo
WHUM
December 2014
Final exam
Macbeth
There are many conflicts found in the play Macbeth by Shakespeare both external and internal.
There is man vs. society, man vs. self, man vs. man, and even man vs. supernatural. In my opinion, I
believe that the central conflict in Macbeth s plot is man vs. self, an internal conflict. This internal
conflict begins when Macbeth overhears the three witch sisters, also known as the Weird Sisters,
making a prediction that one day he will be become King and rule. From this point on in the
play, he (Macbeth) is conflicted about murdering Duncan, King of Scotland, in order to gain
power. Macbeth starts of the play as a good, honest warrior and the well trusted captain of King
Duncan. Macbeth begins to experience the conflict of man vs self because of his wise to become
king (as well as his trust in the witches prediction) which directly goes against his loyalty to King
Duncan. Even though he goes through internal conflicts with himself over committing this crime
many times his ambition wins, and he becomes a killer. His conscience seems to overcome
everything else by the end, and this is also true for other characters in the play. This ambition
combined with guilt creates a man vs self conflict all throughout the play. Ambition has severe
consequences as seen when Macbeth is slain and branded a tyrant. Shakespeare does not give his
character the chance to enjoy what he has done as a way possibly to imply that it is more

good with numbers became Othello s lieutenant. This ultimately led to his hatred towards
Othello. Iago has also shown his hatred by using animals to describe Othello. Once Iago shouts
to Brabantio calling Othello an Old black ram and Barbary horse (1.1.4 5). In an effort to trying

concepts or images. Works of literature that are defined as postcolonial often record racismor a

32. The Horror Of The Gothic Genre
The Gothic genre often reproduces a conservative paranoid structure when it comes to
homophobia and other moral panics over sex (Hanson, Pg. 176). Eve Sedgwick depicts this in
her work, Between Men: English Literature and Male Homosexual Desire as she discusses how
these ideas (paranoia) are represented within the Gothic, in what she describes as the homosocial
in reference to male bonds (Sedgwick, Pg. 86). She also discusses how bonds between men exist
as the backbone of social form and forms (Sedgwick, Pg. 86). Thus, a consequence of said structure
is the ability to define, control, and manipulate male bonds, which in turn becomes an inexplicably
powerful instrument of social control (Sedgwick, Pg. 86). Thus, homosexualityis represented as the
unspeakable within the Gothic, as it has been defined, controlled, and manipulated to be such
though social control. Therefore, this paper will discuss how homosocial bonds between men, are
used as a tool in social control and used as a way to produce paranoia and moral panic, thus in
reference to the Gothic, these forms epitomize homosexuality as the unspeakable, especially
through homosexual representations within the contexts of ghosts and haunted houses.
Sedgwick describes one of the most distinctive Gothic tropes, as the unspeakable (Sedgwick, Pg.
94), through this trope, she explains how sexuality between men has been recognized as having no

Space travel is a propelled trip outside our planet. This trip will be either by a spacecraft that
contains human inside it or just a controllable spacecraft so engineers or whoever works in the

about the universe like how it started and where did our planet come from and if we are by our

Background
Space exploration became part of human accomplishments after the discoveries and theoretical

the top of the list by launching the first artificial satellite. After a couple of years, on 1961, the

39. Weathering and Erosion
bub
Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a given time and place, with respect to variables such as
temperature, moisture, wind velocity, and barometric pressure. Weather can be classified as day to
day temperature and precipitation activity, where climiate is average atmospheric conditions over
longer periods of time. Weather occurs from temperature and moisture differences between one
place and another. These differences can occur due to the sun angle at any particular spot. The
strong temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream. Weather
systems in the mid latitudes, such as extratropical cyclones , are caused by instabilities of the jet
stream flow. Because the Earth s axis is tilted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Higher altitudes are cooler than lower altitudes, which is explained by the lapse rate. On local
scales, temperature differences can occur because different surfaces (such as oceans, forests, ice
sheets, or man made objects) have differing physical characteristics such as reflectivity, roughness,
or moisture content.
Surface temperature differences in turn cause pressure differences. A hot surface heats the air
above it and the air expands, lowering the air pressure and its density. The resulting horizontal
pressure gradient accelerates the air from high to low pressure, creating wind, and Earth s rotation
then causes curvature of the flow via the Coriolis effect. The simple systems thus formed can then
display emergent behaviour to produce more complex systems and thus other weather phenomena.
Large scale examples include the Hadley cell while a smaller scale example would be coastal
breezes.
The atmosphere is a chaotic system, so small changes to one part of the system can grow to have
large effects on the system as a whole. This makes it difficult to accurately predict weather more
than a few days in advance, though weather forecasters are continually working to extend this limit
through the scientific study of weather, meteorology. It is theoretically impossible to make useful
day to day predictions more than about two weeks ahead, imposing an upper limit to potential for
improved prediction skill.

Due to prevalence in postmenopausal women and controversy mentioned above, this critical review

included relationship between dietary and hip fracture. Non relevant articles such as education and
management of post surgery were discarded. Relevant articles should meet following criteria: a)
English, b) postmenopausal women, c) RCT, d) free of osteoporosis. Most of the chosen articles

43. The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver Essay
What Is The True Religion?
The realities of Congo rescued her from the mental enslavement of her father, Nathan Price. Nathan,
a Baptist evangelist journeyed with his four daughters and wife to the Belgian Congo with his
mission to save the unenlightened souls of the Congolese people. His aim was to accomplish this
through his strict biblical sanctions and his firm belief in his Christian faith. As a child who respects
their parents religion and belief, Leah was compassionate and genuine about her father s faith and
his outlook on life. For this reason, she and her other sisters were slaves to his doctrine. They
believed that his words were always true and his idea of saving the Congolese people would be a
success. However, as time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nathan s quest to save the souls of the Congolese people was a very arduous task. He had to deal
with people who were of different faiths and beliefs. Nathan being rigid and insular to the
Congolese people beliefs and customs he refuses to understand and respect the beliefs of these
people. Instead, he imposed his doctrines unto them and demanding that they become Christians
and for them to believe that his religion is correct and that no other religion follows. This
egomaniac behavior was demonstrated during one of his encounter with Tata Ndu, the chief of
Kikango when he was told that the people of Congo were not Christians, Nathan was outraged
because he thought that they were committing an act of sin since they did not believe in Jesus
Christ. As Leah listened to her father she began to realize how ignorant her father was towards the
Congolese people and their beliefs. It was during this time she began to question her faith.
Leah s lost for her faith was truly established when her father decided to stay in the Congo during
the period of war when Congo was gaining their independence. Although her father was told that it
would be unsafe for him and his family he decided to stay because he wanted to fulfill his is
mission which was to Americanize and Christianize the people of Congo. As Leah watched the
Underdowns, who were also firm believers of the Christian

CASE 10B 5 Ethics and the Manager; Rigging Standards [LO5]
Stacy Cummins, the newly hired controller at Merced Home Products, Inc., was disturbed by
what she had discovered about the standard costs at the Home Security Division. In looking over
the past several years of quarterly earnings reports at the Home Security Division, she noticed that
the first quarter earnings were always poor, the second quarter earnings were slightly better, the
third quarter earnings were again slightly better, and the fourth quarter always ended with a
spectacular performance in which the Home Security Division managed to meet or exceed its
target profit for the year. She also was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the products are run at a lower cost than the standard, then this produces a favorable variance.
The COGS and variance should net to the correct cost though (this is the reason the system creates
the variance).
The bigger problem here is that any inventory is likely to be overvalued because of wrong
standards. Finished goods inventory is valued at the standard cost. So if there is a lot of inventory
at an inflated cost, then the COGS is being reduced on the income statement too much because of
this. If the inventory were to be revalued at it s correct standard cost, there would be a large
expense to the income statement.
I would say he has been building inventory, more and more each quarter.

1) How did Preston Lansing Probably rig the standard costs are the standards set too high or too
low? Explain
The standards are set too high. When the products are run at a lower cost than the standard, then
this produces a favorable variance. The cost of goods sold and variance should net to the correct
cost though and this is the reason the system creates the variance. Lansing set a loose standard
which the standard quantities and standard price are high, flowing this situation favorable variances
