The Infected Leaves Of Aspen Leafminers Essay
The Infected Leaves of Aspen Leafminers The study performed was the counting of infected
leaves and trees in five groups. The five groups were called A, B, C, D and E. The leaves in a
given area were measured 1 meter by 1 meter. The leaves not infected by a leaf miner, were not
counted. The counting of leaves and trees was counted three times in each zone by each group
and then the data was written down to be analyzed later. The Aspen leafminer or the Phyllocnistis
populiella can be described as a caterpillar or larvae that lay eggs on a plant and eats the nutrient leaf
tissue. The eating of the leaf tissue leave a discoloration on the leaf. The Aspen leafminer is in the
Species scientific classification. The two species that can be found in the U.P are the Bigtooth and
Quaking Aspen that turn the leaves a gold color during fall season. The purpose of this study is to
see the similarities and differences of human disturbance in the data found when the leaves and
trees were counted.
So, the materials used in this experiment was a measuring tape and notebook to measure the 1
meter by 1 meter area and the notebook was used to write down the amount of infected leaves. The
measuring tape was used to measure an exact area, so the information found would be as accurate
as possible. The work was done at Wetmore Pond, Marquette County, Michigan on October, 21st.
The results of this experiment are shown in the below graph. It shows that leaves per

The Impact Of Quality Cost On Total Quality Management
Chapter 1
The Impact of Quality Cost on Total Quality Management
The Case of Private sector in Bahrain
Introduction:
The few past decades have witnessed unlimited number of changes in the business and
organizational contexts due to the numerous modifications that took place in the world markets and
economies. One of these changes must have been the openness of the global markets and becoming
one market. This forced almost every company to do its best to produce the best products that grant
this company a good position in the global market. And thus they achieve high profits in addition to
the best image and reputation for this company. This can be the stem upon which quality of the
products were built.
Significance of the study: The current study is shedding light on two of the most important recently
used concepts in the domain of organizational management which are: COQ or Cost Of Quality and
TQM or Total Quality Management. These two concepts are highly related with making the
consumers of products and services satisfied. This would ultimately bring good position ... Show

This created great pressures on organizations and made them willing to create and innovate so that
they can gain competitive advantage over their rivals in the world markets. Adding quality to the
final products may be one element that attracts and satisfies the customers. However, elements there
have been numerous elements or factors that started to occur in the management and organizational
domains. These included TQM or Total quality Management and COQ or Cost Of Quality. These
concepts and more became dominant aspects that required concentration from companies. TQM is
not only a strategy to be applied; it is an approach of management that must prevail all over the
whole organization. The practices of the TQM are essential to exist in the

The Effects Of Stress On First Year Students Essay
Stress and Learning: The Effects of Stress on First Year Students
A young college student sits at a mundane wooden desk. He s frantically working on an essay
that he has already spent days writing. He needs to finish this English essay so he can move on
to work regarding the speech outline that is due later in the evening. In addition to that, he also
has two tests the next day that require a few hours of review each. He never pictured college to
be a cakewalk but never did he imagine it would take this much to earn a decent grade. This is
the reality for most college students, especially ones in their first year. It s a difficult struggle but
everyone that s been through college has been here before: cramming for tests, spending hours
writing essays, reading chapter after chapter of thousand page books, the late nights studying...
The stress is an atrocious beast everyone with a degree has had to battle. Stress is commonplace
among college students, especially ones fresh out of high school due to the newly found freedoms
they enjoy conflicting with the colossal amount of responsibility gained at the same rate. How does
all of this stress affect the process of learning? First, it must be understood that learning is a
biological process within the brain. Robert Leamnson, The author of Thinking About Teaching and
Learning , describes the biological process as The establishment of axons between neurons that
create synapses. and explains that: The ability of the brain

What Role Does Lucia Play In Mad Forest
The UNCW theatre department s production of Mad Forest had many great actors and actresses
involved. Lucia, played by Taylor England, and Toma, played by Tony Choufani, were the two
characters and actors that stood out to me the most. I believe both of the actors did amazing jobs
with their character, and both must have been very difficult roles to pull off.
Taylor England playing the role of Lucia was very intriguing to watch. Her facial expressions
alone made her a great actress for the role of Lucia in my opinion. Even when she was not the
main focus of a scene, she continued to stay in character and the seriousness that came with a
majority of the play. Taking acting for non majors has made me realize how much more difficult it

Advantages And Disadvantages Of FDMA
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a design for multiple antenna full duplex (FD) eNodeB (eNB)
and user equipment (UE) transceiver, based on recent progress in the area of self interference
cancellation (SIC). For FD communication, .i.e., simultaneous in band uplink and downlink
operation, same subcarriers are allocated to UE in both uplink and downlink. Hence, contrary to
traditional LTE, we propose using single carrier frequency division multiple accesses (SC FDMA)
for downlink along with the conventional method of using it for uplink. Taking advantage of
channel reciprocity in the case of FD communication and multiple antennas at eNB, use of singular
value decomposition (SVD) in the downlink allows multiple user (MU) to operate... Show more

Imagination And Symbolism In Finding Neverland
Trust, love, and loyalty; thrown out the door to fulfill the needs of a widowed mother and her
children. When James Barrie meets the Davie family in the park one evening, his life takes a hit
in order to bring back the imagination of a child, and his own. In the movie Finding Neverland,
James Barrie, an intelligent, open minded, play writer, pushes away the tedious people in his
life that were once important to him, in order to save his own career, and the Davie boys
childhood. James Barrie comes off as a very mysterious man within the first scenes of the movie.
His dark slicked back hair and well tailored suits give off this impression. James always seems to be
dressed in formal attire. His wife, Mary, seems to be dressed well throughout the movie as well,
which tells the viewer that they are a wealthy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As James struggles to write a play that will be fancied by the critics, the conflict dwells into a
much larger picture. Society begins to think that James is cheating on his wife, and possibly
molesting the children. He remains very positive and calm, despite the wicked thoughts of his own
wife, and the rest of the community. James continues to be there for the family and does not
change his aspects in the making. James Barrie seems to symbolize the idea of imagination
throughout the entire movie. When times get tough, he quickly comes up with an idea to solve the
problem. James constantly tries to get Peter s imagination flowing and convince his mind into the
idea of being a child. James is the protagonist in this film, or hero. He constantly shows compassion
and does anything in his power to help those in need. The antagonist, or bad guy, in this film is
Sylvia s unidentified illness. It continually threatens her life throughout the majority of the movie,
until it eventually takes the last parent of the Davie boys. James tries to take Sylvia to the doctor
multiple times, but she

Ethics Code And New York State Professional Standards
A professional psychologist enters into the field of Psychology to help others improve their
mental health circumstances. As a licensed professional psychologist, it will be easy to know
who the client will because the client will request a service, pay and consent form signed. Client
cannot be easily defined as just a paying customer because a client encompasses so many other
things. WHO IS THE CLIENT? Who is the Client? There will be an obvious answer, which will
be the paying client. This paper will detail what it entails to be a client in the context of the APA
Ethics Code and New York State Professional Standards. Under the Ethics Code and New York
State Professional Standards, they both have explicit details on who is the client? Definition of a
client. The first step will be to understand why the word client was being used instead patient since
the two words represents someone seeking medical/mental help. The word patient suggests that the
therapist puts him/herself in the position of making decision for the person whom they viewed as
impaired or damaged. Psychotherapist who uses the word has to diagnose a disorder in order to
treat the patient. Client on the other hand, was viewed as more humanistic and gives the client
autonomy over what is best for them. A client seeking therapy will not be curing an illness but
seeking new direction in life (Mclaughlin, 2008). State law and the client. New York State Article

Society s View of Women in Media and Sports
To begrudge folks of their opinion of these women is useless. Beauty is entirely subjective, a
matter truly in the eye of the beholder, (Source 1). The media is infamous for how it views
individuals. Television shows such as TMZ and Extra exist for the sole purpose of not only
stalking, but also ridiculing celebrities regardless of whether or not they planned to be in the
limelight. If Jennifer Lawrence appears gorgeous in her red carpet gown, she is praised; if she
is caught with a slice of pizza in her mouth she is viewed by the same people as a slob. The
media treats its precious celebrities like dogs, rewarding them or scolding them for their behaviors.
This attitude is not reserved for celebrities, as it also affects the common, non famous people men
and women both and emerged in the Roaring 20s. Before the cultural transformation of that era,
women fit the image of the so called Gibson Girl. The Gibson Girl was extremely feminine and
beautiful with long, flowing, thick hair, modest yet elegant outfits, and wide birthing hips. When
companies started to yearn for more money, advertisement agencies began to develop ads that
featured skinny girls with the body of twelve year old boys, and short hair to promote different
hair products. This allowed companies to charge the same amount of money for a smaller amount
of fabric. Thus emerged the Flapper of the 1920s a truly new breed of woman whose new
appearances matched their new attitudes. These women would drink and

Police Chief Job Application Examples

The Technological Accessibility And Socioeconomic Mobility...
I remember travelling to the resort and marvelling at the engineering feat of the Cayo Santa
Maria (CSM) causeway in Cuba. The design of the causeway functioned as a method of
connecting small parchments of man made land to the larger archipelagos. Despite the
devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 05, the causeway remained proportionately intact. During
my visit in 11, however, the causeway was noted for its damaged bridges still in need of further
repair1. The causeway itself (for the most part) is unlit. Due to the (prior) partisan embargo
against Cuba, the CSM is a main artery for tourist flow with it being the major route to the
resort(s). The main archipelago supports twelve hotels the first built in 01 is quite incredible,
considering the limitations placed on the technological accessibility and socioeconomic
mobility of Cuban workers. While traversing on the CSM causeway, I distinctly thought of the
abundance of people travelling Cuba s main highway earlier. I had asked the guide, (foolishly,)
Where are they going? To work . It was considered a privilege, I learned, to be able to work on
the archipelagos at least you wouldn t have to walk to work2. A walk that took the workers half
of their day. The CSM causeway is very narrow, a two lane 48 km stretch; I was curious to how
the resort workers (unable to walk the causeway) made it to work. Transportation being expensive,
based not primarily vehicle ownership but public transportation, again, how do they

Raphael Sanzio
RAPHAEL SANZIO
Raphael was one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance. Raphael painted and
designed many brilliant pieces of work and the stanzas inside the Vatican. He was a master at such
necessities of modern art such as depth and perspective and the use of light and shadow, and was
the turning point styles of paintings like the use of Madonnas in paintings. Through his short life,
Raphael would make some of the most awe inspiring, beautiful, and influential works of art during
the Italian Renaissance.
Raphael whose full name was Raphael Sanzio, (also known as Raphael Sanzi), was born on April
6th, 1483. He was born in the town of Urbino, Italy, where he would spend his childhood life until
he was 11 years old. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1508, at the age of 24, Raphael was invited to the Vatican by Pope Julius II. Raphael was
summoned to the Vatican to paint things like stanzas, and was probably recommended to the
pope by Domato Bramante, an architect. He was immediately well liked by the pope and
everyone else at the Vatican due to his personality; Raphael was a nice, gentle, and sensitive
individual. As Giorgio Vasari once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable
that even animals loved him, not to speak of men. (Ruskin, p. 132)
In order for Raphael to paint stanzas Pope Julius II ordered some old frescoes to be washed away
from the Vatican walls. Although he made many stanzas, he only painted one stanza: the Stanza
della Segnatura. In the other stanzas that Raphael would make, Raphael would sketch the stanzas
and his pupils would paint whatever he sketched. In the Stanza della Segnatura, there was a stanza
for each of the four walls.. Each side represented a topic. The four sides were about theology,
poetry, philosophy, law. Each topic was represented with a painting. Theology was represented by
Disputa, poetry by Parnassus, Jurisprudence represented law, and the extremely famous The School
of Athens represented philosophy. He started working on these stanzas in early 1509 and finished in

Roman City Planning Essay
Roman City Planning
The design and structure of a city is as important as the people who dwell within her walls. The
placement of streets and the structures built there are carefully plotted for optimal use. Foot and
cart traffic, fire hazard, and access to water were all key factors in city planning. Eventually the
Romans had fine tuned their design principals in such an advantageous way that they molded all of
their city states similarly.
Rome developed from the combination of small farming communities around a hilltop fortification.
The city, which was founded before regularized city planning, consisted of a confusing maze of
crooked and gnarled streets. The focal point of which was the city s forum, the main meeting ...

Towards the city s heavily trafficked center the Roman Forum was constructed for convenient
easy access of all the citizens. The foreground of the forum was occupied by a paved square with
monuments to famous citizens. The temple to the Divine Julius, dedicated in 29 BCE to the
deified Caesar, built in a Hellenistic style, is located in the background on the left; to the right is
the temple of Vesta and the house of the Vestal Virgins, guardians of the everlasting flame;
further to the right is the temple of the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux dedicated in 6 CE Here the
office of weights and measures was situated. The podiums of the temples of Caesar and the
Dioscuri were often used as orators platforms and it is in this part of the Forum that the meetings
of the comitia took place. On the far right is the Basilica Julia built by Caesar. Its long façade
occupies the entire south side of the Forum. (Owens, 154) Semi circular in plan and having
consisted of a tall stage building, theaters were a semi circular orchestra and tiered seating area.

Persuasive Essay On Seat Belt Safety
On April 15th, 2017, a student rolled his car two and half times, the car was totaled. The student
walked away without a scratch on him due to the fact that he was wearing a seatbelt. That
student was me. The act of putting your seat belt into the buckle of your seat takes a mere two
seconds. Two seconds is obviously a small price to pay if the cost could potentially be your
entire life. When drivers and passengers are involved in car accidents, they are more likely to
survive if they are wearing a seatbelt. Seat belts save lives as well as they often prevent major
injuries. When involved in a serious car accident, seat belts have proven to be effective in saving
lives and preventing injury. When involved in a car accident, passengers in the car are subject to
concussion, ejection, paralyzation, or even death. Seat belts strap a passenger into their seat in the
car, this prevents ejection from the vehicle. 75% of people who are ejected from their vehicles die
from impact or related injuries (CDC). This incredibly high statistic proves the effectiveness of
seatbelts holding you into the car and preventing death by ejection. In addition to this, the US
Department of Transportation states that 88.5% of people used seat belts in 2016 (US
Department of Transportation). This number is up 7% from 81.2% in 2006, meaning drivers and
passengers alike are realizing the necessity of wearing a seatbelt. The increased use of seat belts is
likely due to scare tactics used by law

On-Campus Garden Persuasive Essay
Sustainability is something we talk about a lot. It s taught to kids in elementary and middle
schools now, but when I was in primary school it was not heavily focused on. There has been
shift in priorities between generations, and I feel that it s very hard to get my generation on
board with living in a sustainable manner. I once gave a speech on the importance of recycling
that almost put the entire class to sleep. I think this is because my generation does not care, it s
not their problem, the idea of the earth not supporting them is not something that has been
brought to their doorstep, and in a manner of speaking they are unaware that their actions have
negative consequences. My ideas for making the Grand View campus more eco friendly is a
three fold process fully incorporated to form a closed loop. First, I believe we should have a(n)
on campus garden(s) where students are responsible for caring for crops which could be consumed
in the cafeteria or used in a food pantry. Second, we should harvest rainwater for use in the gardens

giving out fliers or just straight up talking to you about their club or the activities. They can also

subject that s referring to that race. Anyone can be advertised in any way or anything. It doesn t

s a specific type of advertisement that s referring to someone specific, it can make you think oh it

look at are fashion, fitness, and sport magazines. For girls the fashion magazine is the one they
would most likely look at. They want to follow the trends and what s in and what s out of fashion
and some want to fit in with a crew that dresses differently. Same thing with the guys. Whatever s
out of fashion for them, they don t wear anymore, but for girls whatever was out can come back to

Why Are Professional Athletes Too High
NFL Earnings to High The NFL has a labor union that has a percentage on how much the athletes
get paid which is 51% and the other 49% goes to the merchandise, stadiums, equipment and etc..
Professional athletes that get paid in the NFL usually make hundreds of millions by the time
they are done playing which I believe is too high. If they were to only play 1 2 years they would
still have enough for a nonprofessional athlete to live off of for most or their whole lifetime and
most athletes play for an average of 4 years. So, that s some of the examples that I think why
professional athletes get paid too much.

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s Lone Ranger And Tonto...
In all mediums of storytelling alike, there is always the question of if the author is being truthful
about the information they are giving. This includes the lessons told through the story of morality
in fiction, historical fiction, or anything related to such topics. Consequently, most books read in
popular culture have a lesson; novels are a form of education. An example of this has been shown
through Sherman Alexie s Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. In this novel, he attempts to
shed light on the struggles Native American people, specifically on the Spokane Reservation,
withstand through multiple stories and perspectives. Some novels, if their perspective of truth has
not been taken into account, still affect people in their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, all of the stories listed with moral lessons are for children. That brings a question; do
adult and young adult novels all have similar lessons to be taught?
Many novels, like 1984 by George Orwell as well as Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven
by Sherman Alexie, focus on the time frame and culture the novel was written in. 1984 is a book
that focuses on a dystopian society in Oceana. Big Brother controls every citizens thoughts,
actions, memories, etc., in order to achieve a perfect dictatorial society. Though it was written in
1944, during World War II, where the dictatorship of Stalin (who Big Brother was based off of)
was prevalent, it is still read to this very day. Most would argue that it is read simply for the
classical aesthetic purpose, but while that still may be true, it is still read due to the fact that
society has not learned the lessons taught in the novel. In the month of January, 1984 shot to No.

Sean Spicer describes lies and the facts that went against the evident truth as Alternative Facts .
This struck something in many people that brought them to draw a connection to the novel in
discussion. What this novel teaches is the dangers in total power and control, as well as the early
signs of a dictatorship. These two topics are prevalent in today s society and political culture,
meaning the lessons exemplified in this book can still be

Stroke Recovery
Did you know that Stroke is one of the leading health problems in America? A stroke is often
called a brain attack and it occurs when blood flow to a certain area of the brain is cut off. The
brain cells are deprived of the oxygen and glucose needed to survive, and then they die. If a stroke
is not caught early enough, permanent brain damage and sometimes even death can occur. Strokeis
the leading cause of long term disability in the United States, and many survivors experience
either a weakening on their left or right side of their body. This weakening can result in
decreased mobility, a decrease in social interaction and participation, and an increase in
depression. Aerobic exercise has been shown to play a key role in neuroplasticity and motor
recovery after someone experiences a stroke. The objective of the main article uses two different
types of aerobic exercises and tries to understand how the exercises affect motor recovery post

Foil Characters In A Tale Of Two Cities
In Dickens A Tale of Two Cities , polar opposites Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay are often
paired together. These two foil characters are joined together to improve the themes of this novel.
Carton and Darnay are dynamic characters who keep the story moving through their similarities
and differences. By breaking each character down, it can be made known who the better man truly
is. First, Charles Darnay is introduced. He is a sophisticated man with manners, poise, and purpose.
He soon becomes the husband of Lucie Manette, the daughter of the man his family falsely
imprisoned (which shows he comes from a lying background). Darnay eventually receives a letter
from an old friend in France asking for help. If Darnay goes to help his friend he can also protect
his reputation and not be called a coward. Because of this, Darnay decides to leave. He may be
going to France to help a friend, but the real reason is to defend his status. This does not help

the interviewee says something like: that Montessori Method of teaching that is depended on self

creative choices in their learning, while the teacher prepares the environment and provides age

and importance of children. It is founded on the belief that children should learn to succeed without
restriction. The interviewee doesn t necessarily have to say exactly the above. She/he could simply
mention about child s freedom to choose work without any interruption or about preparing the
environment. I will especially look for her understanding about the freedom choices in the
Montessori Method and her willingness to follow the philosophy.

Reggae, a generic name for all Jamaican popular music since 1960, is defined as a West Indian

In this portion of the paper I will be focusing on Bob Marley and give an introduction to who he is,
how he learned his music and how he became famous. On February 6, 1945 in Saint Ann,
Jamaica, Bob Marley was born. His father was a white Englishman and his mother was a black
Jamaican. When Marley was ten years old his father died, and at that point his mother moved
him to Kingston s Trechtown neighborhood. As a teenager in Kingston he became friends with
Bunny Wailer and this is when Marley learned to play music. When Marley was 14 years old he
decided to drop out of school so he could learn the welding trade, and at the same time he spent
his spare time jamming with Bunny and Ska musician Joe Higgs. In 1962 Bob had recorded his
first two singles but neither one of them had received any interest at the time. The following year
he began a Ska band with his friend Bunny and Peter Tosh, which was originally called The
Teenagers . They then became known as The Wailing Rudeboys and after a few more name
changes they eventually came up with simply The Wailers. In 1964 they came out with their
earliest Studio One hit which was recorded in the popular rock steady style, Simmer Down.
Following that track they came out with another hit in 1965 that was entitled Soul Rebel in which
both songs were written by Marley. In 1966 Marley married Rita Anderson, they had 12 kids

Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which
costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA securityprotocol, the risks
could have been small.
There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network
wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2
provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced
Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a
hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have
two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with
terms and conditions.
For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect
with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers
and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an
alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports,
inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to
safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day.

Evaluating Nike s Just Do It Campaign
Advertisements are all around us, whether we are conscious of it or not, they have blurred the line

Multiculturalism In Canada
Canada is routinely defined as the exemplar multicultural society with the most diverse cities in the
world such as Vancouver, Toronto and Quebec. The concepts of integrity and complexity are being
shaped in Canadian society because of its co existence of different cultures. Indeed,
multiculturalism has been a keystone of Canadian policy for over 40 years with the aim of
pursuing Canadian unity (Flegel 2002). Accordingly, Canadais generally estimated a country where
people are all equal and where they can share fundamental values based upon freedom. Diversity is
sustained and promoted by governmental policy, however, there are still racist interactions, which
are destructive to minorities integration, especially recent ethnic groups arrival (Banting Kymlicka
2010). This paper will examine challenges that multiculturalismhas brought society and residents of
Canada. There is a growing of ethnic groups from non European societies, who can meet Canadian
economic development in term of their level of education, occupational skills and languages. Those
ethnic groups are called immigrants because they are neither indigenous nor colonist settlers but are
accepted through Canada s immigrationpolicy (Banting 2010). Even though diverse cultures and
differences of minorities were recognized and celebrated within the bilingual framework during the
multiculturalism policy of the 1970s, their full equal participations are still excluded from the
mainstream society (Leung 2012).

The nature of industrialisation in the 1930s
The nature of industrialisation changed in the 1930s. In the 1920s industrialisation had occurred
because of free enterprise and big business. But with the onset of the Depression, industrial output
fell dramatically. (statistics needed). To combat this, the federal government adopted a role of
directly stimulating industrial growth. The Public Works Administration (PWA) instituted in began
many large industrial projects with the aim of spurring the economy and providing many jobs. The
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was a federal project to energise the economy through a massive
industrial scheme sponsored by the federal government. Twenty five dams were built to reshape the
land and generate hydro electricity, which could further contribute to industrial growth. Another
example of government leadership of industry was the National Recovery Administration (NRA),
which attempted to foster industrial growth through the creation of codes for each industry. These
federal programs fundamentally changed the nature of industrialisation. In the 1930s, the
government s approach to industrialisation was more akin to socialist state style industrialisation
than it was to the American capitalism style industrialisation of the 1920s. Further, the federal

Notes On Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Essay
Dynasty Allen English 2270 10/3/2016 Journal Entries (1 5) Analytic Journal #1: Self Reliance
Self Reliance is a transcendentalist essay by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The essay was published in
1841 during the transcendentalist movement. It was a way for writers to respond to or protest
the general state of intellectualism and even spirituality. He speaks in this essay about ways to
avoid conforming and also how each person should follow their own instincts and ideas.
Emerson split many of the topics in this essay into different sections. In one of the sections he
speaks of the relationship between each individual and non conformity and how each person can
be self reliant. Self Reliance favors individualism, which promotes that people use their own
thoughts and desires rather than that of a group. In the beginning of the essay Emerson says, To
believe in your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for
all men, that is genius. His statement captures the essence of what he means by self reliance,
namely the reliance upon one s own thoughts and ideas. He mentions that people like Moses,
Plato, and Milton, were so important because they spoke their minds and did not only recite what
was written in or memorized from books. Emerson tells his readers to Trust thyself. Emerson also
preaches for people to become nonconformists. In the essay, he explains that for a nonconformist,

Current research available on the effects of restorative justice on juvenile recidivism range from
meta analyses of multiple studies to individual program studies. According to Bradshaw and

diverse research findings across restorative justice studies and synthesizing these findings in an
objective manner. (p. 19). Four meta analytic studies reveal an overall reduction in juvenile

restorative justice participants compared to juveniles in the traditional justice system (Wong et al.,

The Minoans In Ancient Greece
When I first heard about the Minoans, I was immediately entranced. The Minoans were considered
to be Europe s first Great Bronze Age Society starting around 2000 B.C.E, and ending around 1400
B.C.E. The word Minoan was given to the people of ancient Crete by British archaeologist Sir
Arthur Evans. Arthur Evans named them Minoans because at first he thought he had discovered
the palace of king Minos. Arthur Evens hypothesized that the Minoans came from North Africa, but
more recent studies through DNA samples tell us that they were European.
The Minoans called the island of Crete home. Crete is located in the center of the Mediterranean
Sea in between Europe, and Africa. Crete s location makes it a very strategical place for trading. Its
climate, and crops yielded an abundant amount of resources in ancient times. These resources were

German Schools Vs American Schools
American schools and German schools have many differences.
In the United States, students customize much of their education, especially at higher grade levels.
They must study core curriculum, like math, English, and science, but also can choose what
language they take, whether they take art classes or shop class, and so forth. They make decisions
about what interests they wish to explore, and they can change that decision if they discover they

Essay On The Causes Of Obesity In America
American s are suffering from an epidemic today called obesity. Contributors to the obesity
problem are overly large portions of food served to Americans. Also, a lack of physical activity
adds to obesity, spending hours in front of a television or computer. Advertisements contribute to
Americans over weight problems by pushing high calorie high fat foods. Major healthproblems
caused by obesity are high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
First, obesity can cause high blood pressure in Americans. Overweight individuals are more likely
to develop high blood pressure than individuals with average weight. The added fat tissue in the
body creates a need for additional blood to circulate through the body. As a result, of this added
blood flow there is extra pressure on the artery walls of the heart. With this higher pressure on
the artery walls a person s blood pressure rises. Since, there is increased pressure on the heart it
causes the heart to grow larger. When the heart grows larger, it loses some of its ability to squeeze
blood through the heart valves. So, this extra weight impedes the body s ability to transport blood
through the blood vessels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overweight people can have a buildup of plaque inside the coronary arteries that can lead to
heart disease. In effect, this buildup of plaque can lead to high cholesterol. High cholesterol will
narrow the arteries and reduce blood flow that can cause chest pain. Also, narrowed arteries can
form blood clots that lead to heart diseases. A heart attack can happen when the body cannot
pump enough blood to supply the body in an obese individual. Since, heart attacks, strokes or even
death can be the results of a person suffering from obesity. Being overweight can cause the heart
valves to malfunction. As a result, this malfunction does not allow the valves to close completely
and can lead to heart failure. An individual that is obese is at a higher risk of heart

The Man From Snowy River Film Analysis
Imagine this: a vast, open landscape full of beauty and terror, framed by the noises of life. Deep
purples merging upon the horizon as the distant mountains reach for the white sun. Red dirt and
green earth blending on canvas to make this wondrous land Australia. Our Home.
Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentlemen.
I am Fiona Collins with Infilm here today to convince you that the classic 1981 Australian film The
Man From Snowy River deserves to be included in your Hall of Fame. I shall educate you all in
this film s cultural and cinematic value with regards to its portrayal of Australian values. We
will delve into the cultural context, plot, characters and settings, and how they were able to be
directed into the film by George Miller, making the Australian values paramount. This 100
minute adventure produced by Geoff Burrowes and staring Tom Burlinson, Sigrid Thorton, Kirk
Douglas and Jack Thompson generated a massive following in which it held the title of Australia
s most popular film for five years. Additionally it received two prestigious awards: MontrГ©al
World Film Festival 1982 Most Popular Film of the Festival and the AFI s 1982 Best original
Music Score . These awards cement the successful reception of the film, reinforced greatly by ...

The Man From Snowy River showcases the beauty of Australia. The Man From Snowy River s
backdrop is the Victorian highlands, with establishing shots of mountains, plains and forests
included. It shows the exquisite native flora and fauna which boosts the exposure of Australia s
splendour. The shacks and ranches in this film show the simple way of life, and the stockyards
show excitement and exhilaration. This portrays the Australian culture through the fact that it is
isolated and thriving, and reinforces the fact that this film was, and still is, a massive contributor to
the exposure of Australian culture to the

Coach Carter s Interactional Model
The movie Coach Carter, is about a coach who decides to take on the responsibility of coaching a
basketball team for his former high school, Richmond. Upon entering the position, he finds a team
that lacks motivation, respect, or discipline. As his first act of coach, he presents all his players
with contracts requiring them to meet certain requirements to play on his team. In retaliation, many
of his players begin to resent him, in one instance a player even tries to punch him. Despite the
hostility, Coach Cartersticks to his rules, and enforces discipline throughout the season. His players
learn to respect him, and with this respect they play well enough to reach and compete in the CIF
high schoolplayoffs. Unfortunately, in a nail biting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In one instance when his own son is late to practice, many of the players believe that he will be
let off easy. However, Carter enforces the punishment of suicides to his own son without
hesitation. This really proved that he was going to be consistent across the team and wasn t
going to play favorites. Whenever, a punishment was dealt it was clear that Carter wasn t
punishing the person but was punishing the behavior. For example, despite players having left the
gym many times, he never believed them to be bad people and would always give them the
chance to earn their way back if they deserved it. However, many professionals caution the use of
physical activity or conditioning as punishment, as many players see this form of punishment as
embarrassing and humiliating. In Coach Carter s case, I don t believe his use of physical activity
was necessarily negative. Taking in the audience he was coaching and the environment, I don t
think a softer form of punishment would have been as

From the Broadbeach study, the investigation of offshore...
From the Broadbeach study, the investigation of offshore wave conditions erosion rates and
sandbar morphodynamics, show that Broadbeach experienced some unusual experience during
the study period. Given that the wave conditions on the Gold Coast were considerably less
energetic, results suggest that Broadbeach s beach is significantly vulnerable and is more easily
eroded than other beaches reported. Time series of offshore wave conditions combined with the
evolution of the beach volume also suggests that the studied beach is more exposed to high
erosion rates in the presences of NE to E swell. This trend is in agreement with visual observation
all along the Gold Coast. However, the second and third storm wave events are estimated to be of...

During the first and second extreme events mentioned in the study, the 150m wide Coolangatta
Beach experienced the most intense erosion because waves did not reach the vegetated dune. The
beach then recovered markedly, which can be explained by the presence of the sand bypassing
system and sheltering from he SE high waves (Castelle et al., 2007).
The evolution of measured beach volumes over the study period strongly suggests that the Gold
Coast beaches are not able to withstand a powerful succession of extreme vents. The first high
wave event strongly weakened the beaches, which did not recover before the second high wave
event of a magnitude not unusual along the Gold Coast. However, in these two cases, the storms
resulted in surprisingly high erosion rates. Data from a more in depth investigation of Broadbeach,
using video imagery, suggest that outer bar decay, resulting in a lack of protection of the sub aerial
beach, may explain this high erosion.
The present results show that high energy easterly swells have a considerable destructive power on
both northern and southern Gold Coast beaches. Even though no tropical cyclone directly crossed
the Gold Coast, which would have resulted in much higher energy waves and a more severe storm
surge, the erosion measured is the most substantial of the past 30 years. The Gold Coast beaches
investigated lost between 34 and 52m3/m, which, in terms of beach nourishment, is an extremely
large amount of sand. This suggests hat

  • 2. The Infected Leaves Of Aspen Leafminers Essay The Infected Leaves of Aspen Leafminers The study performed was the counting of infected leaves and trees in five groups. The five groups were called A, B, C, D and E. The leaves in a given area were measured 1 meter by 1 meter. The leaves not infected by a leaf miner, were not counted. The counting of leaves and trees was counted three times in each zone by each group and then the data was written down to be analyzed later. The Aspen leafminer or the Phyllocnistis populiella can be described as a caterpillar or larvae that lay eggs on a plant and eats the nutrient leaf tissue. The eating of the leaf tissue leave a discoloration on the leaf. The Aspen leafminer is in the Species scientific classification. The two species that can be found in the U.P are the Bigtooth and Quaking Aspen that turn the leaves a gold color during fall season. The purpose of this study is to see the similarities and differences of human disturbance in the data found when the leaves and trees were counted. So, the materials used in this experiment was a measuring tape and notebook to measure the 1 meter by 1 meter area and the notebook was used to write down the amount of infected leaves. The measuring tape was used to measure an exact area, so the information found would be as accurate as possible. The work was done at Wetmore Pond, Marquette County, Michigan on October, 21st. He s frantically working on an essay that he has already spent days writing. He needs to finish this English essay so he can move on to work regarding the speech outline that is due later in the evening. In addition to that, he also has two tests the next day that require a few hours of review each. He never pictured college to be a cakewalk but never did he imagine it would take this much to earn a decent grade. This is the reality for most college students, especially ones in their first year. Advantages And Disadvantages Of FDMA Abstract: In this paper, we propose a design for multiple antenna full duplex (FD) eNodeB (eNB) and user equipment (UE) transceiver, based on recent progress in the area of self interference cancellation (SIC). For FD communication, .i.e., simultaneous in band uplink and downlink operation, same subcarriers are allocated to UE in both uplink and downlink. Hence, contrary to traditional LTE, we propose using single carrier frequency division multiple accesses (SC FDMA) for downlink along with the conventional method of using it for uplink. Taking advantage of channel reciprocity in the case of FD communication and multiple antennas at eNB, use of singular value decomposition (SVD) in the downlink allows multiple user (MU) to operate... The media is infamous for how it views individuals. Television shows such as TMZ and Extra exist for the sole purpose of not only stalking, but also ridiculing celebrities regardless of whether or not they planned to be in the limelight. If Jennifer Lawrence appears gorgeous in her red carpet gown, she is praised; if she is caught with a slice of pizza in her mouth she is viewed by the same people as a slob. This attitude is not reserved for celebrities, as it also affects the common, non famous people men and women both and emerged in the Roaring 20s. The student walked away without a scratch on him due to the fact that he was wearing a seatbelt. That student was me. The act of putting your seat belt into the buckle of your seat takes a mere two seconds. Two seconds is obviously a small price to pay if the cost could potentially be your entire life. When drivers and passengers are involved in car accidents, they are more likely to survive if they are wearing a seatbelt. Seat belts save lives as well as they often prevent major injuries. When involved in a serious car accident, seat belts have proven to be effective in saving lives and preventing injury. When involved in a car accident, passengers in the car are subject to concussion, ejection, paralyzation, or even death. Seat belts strap a passenger into their seat in the car, this prevents ejection from the vehicle. 75% of people who are ejected from their vehicles die from impact or related injuries (CDC). This incredibly high statistic proves the effectiveness of seatbelts holding you into the car and preventing death by ejection. In addition to this, the US Department of Transportation states that 88.5% of people used seat belts in 2016 (US Department of Transportation). The essay was published in 1841 during the transcendentalist movement. It was a way for writers to respond to or protest the general state of intellectualism and even spirituality. He speaks in this essay about ways to avoid conforming and also how each person should follow their own instincts and ideas. Emerson split many of the topics in this essay into different sections. In one of the sections he speaks of the relationship between each individual and non conformity and how each person can be self reliant. His statement captures the essence of what he means by self reliance, namely the reliance upon one s own thoughts and ideas. He mentions that people like Moses, Plato, and Milton, were so important because they spoke their minds and did not only recite what was written in or memorized from books. Emerson tells his readers to Trust thyself. Emerson also preaches for people to become nonconformists. For example, despite players having left the gym many times, he never believed them to be bad people and would always give them the chance to earn their way back if they deserved it. However, many professionals caution the use of physical activity or conditioning as punishment, as many players see this form of punishment as embarrassing and humiliating. In Coach Carter s case, I don t believe his use of physical activity was necessarily negative. Taking in the audience he was coaching and the environment, I don t think a softer form of punishment would have been as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the Broadbeach study, the investigation of offshore wave conditions erosion rates and sandbar morphodynamics, show that Broadbeach experienced some unusual experience during the study period. Given that the wave conditions on the Gold Coast were considerably less energetic, results suggest that Broadbeach s beach is significantly vulnerable and is more easily eroded than other beaches reported. Time series of offshore wave conditions combined with the evolution of the beach volume also suggests that the studied beach is more exposed to high erosion rates in the presences of NE to E swell. This trend is in agreement with visual observation all along the Gold Coast. However, the second and third storm wave events are estimated to be of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the first and second extreme events mentioned in the study, the 150m wide Coolangatta Beach experienced the most intense erosion because waves did not reach the vegetated dune. The beach then recovered markedly, which can be explained by the presence of the sand bypassing system and sheltering from he SE high waves (Castelle et al., 2007). The evolution of measured beach volumes over the study period strongly suggests that the Gold Coast beaches are not able to withstand a powerful succession of extreme vents. The first high wave event strongly weakened the beaches, which did not recover before the second high wave event of a magnitude not unusual along the Gold Coast. However, in these two cases, the storms resulted in surprisingly high erosion rates. Data from a more in depth investigation of Broadbeach, using video imagery, suggest that outer bar decay, resulting in a lack of protection of the sub aerial beach, may explain this high erosion. The present results show that high energy easterly swells have a considerable destructive power on both northern and southern Gold Coast beaches. Even though no tropical cyclone directly crossed the Gold Coast, which would have resulted in much higher energy waves and a more severe storm surge, the erosion measured is the most substantial of the past 30 years. The Gold Coast beaches investigated lost between 34 and 52m3/m, which, in terms of beach nourishment, is an extremely large amount of sand. This suggests hat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
