5. Let’s graph:
1. A(3,-1) and B(3,-5)
2. A(-5,1) and B(-1,1)
3. A(-5,-1) and B(-1,4)
4. A(1,2) and B(4,3)
Guide Question:
What are the trends of the four different graph?
6. Let’s graph:
1. A(3,-1) and B(3,-5)
2. A(-5,1) and B(-1,1)
3. A(-5,-1) and B(-1,4)
4. A(1,2) and B(4,3)
Guide Question:
What are the trends of the four different graph?
Ans: 1.The graph is a vertical line
2.The graph is a horizontal line
3.The graph is increasing
4.The graph is decreasing
7. When I was a child, my sister and I walked 2
kilometers each day for school. Part of that walk
included a very steep hill. One rainy day, we were
walking down the slippery hill and my sister slipped
and fell. Her school books came out of her hands and
slid all the way down the hill and into a storm sewer.
When we arrived at school, we told our teacher about
our ordeal. To this day, I remember that very steep hill.
8. Whatis Slope?

16. Group Activity:
The class will be divided into four groups. Each group will solve the given points using the
Slope formula. (Each students will show their answer in their activity notebook and will
be given 10 points if they have the correct answer.)
Group 1: A(3,-1) and B(3, -5)
Group 2: A(-5,1) and B(-1, 1)
Group 3: A(-5,-1) and B(-1, 4)
Group 4: A(1,-2) and B(4, -3)
19. Applications in real life setting:
Some real life examples of slope include:
•in building roads, one must figure out how steep the road will be.
•skiers/snowboarders need to consider the slopes of hills in order to
judge the dangers, speeds, etc.
•when constructing wheelchair ramps, slope is a major consideration
20. "In battle, casualties vary directly with the time you are exposed to
effective fire. . . A pint of sweat will save a gallon of blood."
- - George S. Patton Jr.
21. WW II: JAPANESE DEFENSES ON THE PHILIPPINES- -THE 6TH ID
Reverse slope defenses were more often used by enemy forces in WW II
and Korea than by U.S. units. During operations on Luzon in the Philippines
(July 1945), the 6th Infantry Division discovered how the Japanese used
such defenses to good effect.
LESSON LEARNED
The reverse slope defense protects the infantryman from enemy long-
range direct and indirect fires.
