The document is a summary of a talk given by Ustaz Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail on understanding the message of the Quran. It discusses concepts like Istiqomah (steadfastness), taking the straight path, obeying Allah and avoiding disobedience, doing righteous deeds regularly, making religion easy through consistency, and being the best example for others through remembrance of Allah and increasing knowledge. Verses from the Quran and sayings of Prophet Muhammad emphasize establishing prayer, enjoining good and erbidding evil, seeking refuge in Allah, and inviting others to the truth while being among the Muslims.
This document discusses the importance of humility in seeking knowledge and being grateful. It emphasizes that one should continually strive to learn the true value of what they have been given and to not take blessings for granted. True scholars remain aware of how little they still know and constantly reflect on improving their understanding of what they have already learned. Humility prevents arrogance and allows one to benefit fully from knowledge.
This document provides a brief history of Da'wah (Islamic preaching/teaching) and Islamic education in Singapore. It discusses the strategic location of Singapore and provides details on the various kings that ruled Singapore from its founding by Sang Nila Utama in 1299 until the establishment of the Johor-Riau-Lingga sultanate in the 15th century. It notes the importance of the Bugis princes in influencing the Malay sultanates and restoring the sultanate to the line of Bendahara Abdul Jalil. The document is presented as part of a lesson on Islamic education in Singapore.

THEME: “Advice regarding Four aspects”
REFLECTION ON TERM “AS-SAFEENAH”
Elucidations to the term “the ship” analogously (amtsal) to the other teachings found in Al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah.
This document contains summaries of passages from the Quran presented by Ustaz Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail. The passages discuss topics such as the impermanence of this world, patience in the face of adversity, calling others to Allah, treating others with justice and kindness, forgiving others, and establishing Islam as a justly balanced community to bear witness to the truth. The document provides guidance on living according to Islamic principles through examples from the Quran and hadiths.
The document discusses controversies surrounding bid'ah (innovation in religious matters) and provides clarity on the issue. It notes that Islamic scholars differ in their definitions of bid'ah and how it relates to sunnah (the way of the Prophet). While some strictly define anything not done by the Prophet as bid'ah and reject it, most scholars do not reject all new things or bid'ah as reprehensible, but accept certain bid'ah, especially if it does not contradict the Quran and sunnah. Hadiths are also cited discussing the importance of following the sunnah and avoiding dissension and new matters that cause misguidance.
This document discusses differences of opinion (ikhtilaf) amongst Islamic schools of thought (madhahib). It provides examples from the time of the Prophet Muhammad where differences arose amongst companions on issues like the timing of prayers, but they were not considered disputes. The Prophet approved of both positions in some cases. It emphasizes that differences should remain respectful and not escalate into conflicts or divisions, as encouraged in Quranic verses. The companions resolved differences by referring to the Quran and Prophet's guidance and submitting to their judgment.
The document discusses traditional and contemporary Islamic scholarship. It notes that while traditional madrasah education aims to preserve religious knowledge, it may not fully encompass Islamic education. Truly Islamic education integrates religious and worldly knowledge in a holistic way. Colonialism disrupted this system, limiting madrasah focus to religious basics due to limited resources. The document advocates learning from conferences on Muslim education that address developing Islamic education models for the modern world. It defines the goal of Islamic education as nurturing good character based on hadith about properly educating children with adab (good manners).
