I would consider my pacing and pauses to be my biggest weaknesses in any public speaking, but
especially during this monologue. I could have paused a lot more since the character of Angelique
was not meant to be rushing through her rant. While I wasn t happy with my pacing and pauses I

and tried not to look at my paper too much and focus more on looking at my audience. My volume

over their words or running out of breath and it made the monologues less effective than they

impressionable. In both films, the outsiders (Mexicans and Asian immigrants) are terrorised and
beaten by Neo Nazi Skinheadgangs in America (Los Angeles) and Australia (Melbourne). Both
texts are also set in a similar timeframe, this being the 80 s/ 90 s, reflecting the social issues of the

Racism and extremism are depicted clearly in both American History X and Romper Stomper,

The excerpts from A Secret Sorrow and A Sorrowful Women told stories of two vastly different
women. In A Secret Sorrow a deeply caring passionate women was depicted. Where as in A
