Medtronic is a $15 billion medical device company with 38,000 employees across 280 global locations. They currently have a SIP trunking implementation in Minnesota for their 8,000 Cisco IPT users, with the first 100 outbound calls using SIP trunks and over 100 overflowing to traditional PRIs. They are looking to expand SIP trunking to more of their 101 US sites due to upcoming contract renewals, which could provide substantial cost savings through reduced long distance costs and eliminating local loops for sites under 100 users. Lessons learned from their current deployment will help guide the expansion.
