1. Self Compassion Paper
Five articles assessed self–compassion and depressive symptoms: four from a non–clinical sample,
and one from both a clinical sample and a non–clinical sample. In a cross–sectional study of 142
depressed outpatients and 120 never–depressed individuals from a non–clinical sample, clinically
depressed patients were significantly less self–compassionate than never–depressed individuals
(Krieger, Altenstein, Baettig, Doerig, & Holtforth, 2013). In the depressed outpatients,
self–compassion was negatively related to depressive symptoms, symptom–focused rumination as
well as cognitive behaviour avoidance. In another study, involving 271 participants from a
non–clinical sample, that examined the mediators of the relationship between self–compassion and
depression and anxiety, results suggest that one way via which self–compassion has a buffering
effect on depression and anxiety is through its positive effects on unproductive repetitive thinking
(Raes, 2010). The...show more content...
In a pilot randomised controlled trial, 41 individuals with binge eating disorder (BED) were
randomly assigned to 3 weeks of food planning plus self–compassion exercises; food planning plus
behavioural strategies; or a wait–list control condition (Kelly & Carter, 2015). Results showed that
both interventions reduced weekly binge days more than the control condition. In addition, the
self–compassion intervention reduced global eating disorder pathology, eating concerns, and weight
concerns more than the other concerns. Further, the self–compassion intervention increased
self–compassion more than the other conditions. Finally, participants low in fear of self–compassion
derived significantly more benefits from the self–compassion intervention than those high in fear of
self–compassion. Findings offer preliminary support for the usefulness of compassion–focused
intervention for people who may suffer from binge

Introduction
An important social welfare demand is the establishment of efficient healthcare services to
accommodate the demands of living in the modern era. Differences in socioeconomic status and
existing health care policies contribute to the variation in care quality. Mosadeghrad (2014) noted
that factors affecting health care quality can be evaluated using Donabedian measurement to assess
technical quality, interpersonal quality, and amenities. Thomas (2014) stated that eliminating health
care disparities and improvement of care quality requires changes in policies and legislation to meet
the healthcare needs of the population.
The United States and Finland healthcare systems are described in this paper. Both countries strive to

ACA led to a reduction of the uninsured rate by 43% despite limitation where 19 states did not
expand the Medicaid program that will allow high–cost deduction and coverage of premium costs.
An example is the Health Insurance Marketplace; it is an ACA forum that allows individuals to buy

government spending, lower premiums, expand coverage and regulate health information
technology standards, accountability, and insurance portability.
Finland Health Care System
Kilpelainen & et al. (2016) stated that Finland's healthcare plan is based on a system that is publicly
funded offering universal access to all residents through the use of municipal health centers and
specialist providers. Riekkinen & et al. (2015) stated that Article 19 of the Constitution of Finland
guarantees its constituents the right to indispensable care access publicly funded healthcare services.
The authors noted that Finland's public healthcare funding comes from municipal taxation and the

4. Conflict Theory Paper
The influence of dominance, power, and class through societies have taken a huge role in why
conflict theory is present in the corruption of the global system. This is also a major social problem
because "the concepts of power in society – including top–down domination and resistance from the
bottom– is an important element in the modern conflict perspective in sociology..." (Tepperman,
Albanese & Curtis, 2014, p. 16). Therefore, the power in society is just another sociology
perspective of a conflict. Conflict theory is shown to be inferior or superior in many different cases.
This theory is illustrated through schools, and everyday jobs such as "teachers, judges or parole
officers" having power over other individuals (Tepperman, et

Individuals of all professions depend on learning from others to attain abilities and knowledge
necessary to practice their profession. Doctors are vital as they treat our illness and save lives
every day. I am grateful for the ones that has devoted their lives to aid others .What about what
doctors will not tell you. Ted Talk by Dr. Wen is an eye opener about what your doctor won't'
disclose and paint a different picture of a health care provider. Doctors should release medical
information to their patients. Doctors need to be transparent about their medical approaches to
treating specific illness, prevents misdiagnosing a patient and introducing care that is more
preventive.

Physicians often reach erroneous diagnoses by following set pathways hard –wired from years of
training and experience. ( Wen & Kosowsky, When Doctors Don't Listen: How to Avoid
Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Tests)Doctor's do not spend enough time with a patient taking a
conscientious history. "At least I in every 20 adults who seeks medical care in a Cumulated States
emergency room for community health clinics may walk away with the erroneous diagnosis,
according to an incipient analysis that estimates that 12 million Americans a year could be affected
by such errors.'' (Raedle, 2014). They rely on anatomical test, such as MRI, CT, and X–rays to make
diagnoses. Anatomy is taking pictures. There is no picture of pain. Physicians need to do
physiological test, such as instant discogram, facet block, root block, nerve block, bone scan,
neurometer studies for sensory nerves, indium 111 scans, PET scan. For example: the medico told
my mother that she is suffering from GERD when later in India we ascertained my mom is suffering
from cardiomyopathy( enlargement of the heart). By edifying the patient the paramount of
providing, the essential information on their illness to the physician, and ascertaining the medico

Parental involvement is critical in facilitating children's development and achievement and in
preventing educational and developmental problems. Declining achievement scores, rising
educational costs, and distrust of bureaucratic institutions are among the factors which have
refocused attention on the rights, responsibilities, and impact of parents.
Benefits to Children
Substantial evidence exists to show that children whose parents are involved in their schooling have
significantly increased their academic achievement and cognitive development. The parent–child
relationship is improved and parents more frequently participate in the child's activities.
Parents also increase the number of contacts made with the school...show more content...

surprisingly, social and fundraising activities were listed by parents as the least popular form of
parent involvement.
Problems in Involving Parents
Researchers found that teachers are sometimes reluctant to encourage parent involvement because
they...
–Are uncertain about how to involve parents and still maintain their role as specialized "experts"
–Are uncertain about how to balance their concern for the group of children against a more
personalized concern for each individual child, which they believe would expected if parents were
more involved.
–Believe parent involvement activities take too much planning time, turn responsibility for teaching
over to parents, and are disruptive because parents do not know how to work with children
–Are concerned that parents may use non–standard English or demonstrate other undesirable
characteristics
–Question whether parents will keep commitments, refrain from sharing confidential information,
and avoid being overly critical
On the other hand, parents complain that the bureaucracy of the schools discourage their

Product Pricing
The cost of an "everyday low price" toy: $19.95. The cost of a Rolex watch: $2,465. A great paper
explaining why corporations put these prices on products: priceless. Wal–Mart has become the
leader in "everyday low price" pricing, and the number one retailer has brought many businesses to
their demise because of their pricing strategy. Recently, Wal
–Mart has expanded their sales niche to
the toy department putting many specialty toy stores near or completely out of business. This paper
will discuss how Wal–Mart priced their line of toys, why Wal–Mart used toys as "loss leaders" to
attract customers, and two alternate methods of pricing marketers can use based on demand and
reputation.
Toy Pricing
Pricing is an important...show more content...
Wal–Mart has certainly made a name in toy sales with their pricing strategy, but left much money
"on the table" in the process. Wal–Mart has recently announced their plans not to lower their toy
prices as much as last year, yet still keep prices lower than toy stores like Toys "R" Us (Grant, 2004).
Loss Leaders
A loss leader is a product sold below cost to draw customers into a store where they are likely to
buy other products. The business expects the customer to purchase other items at the same time as
the loss leader and that the profit made on other products will result in an overall profit. A loss
leader is typically placed in the back of a store, so customers have to walk past higher profit margin
goods (Loss, No Date). Wal–Mart uses toys as a loss leader.
As previously mentioned, price is one of the most flexible elements of the marketing mix as it can
be changed very quickly. Pricing goods below the competition can be difficult to sustain because it
exposes the possibility of a price war. Wal–Mart, however, sets their prices lower than distributor
cost, forgoing significant revenue on that specific product, only to attract customers and make up the
lost revenue in other product sales. For example, Wal–Mart willingly loses money selling CDs for
$10, $2 less than what it bought the CD for from distributors. However, Wal–Mart anticipates that
the lost revenue will be made up when

10. Chevy Volt Research Paper
How cool would it be if you didn't have to use gas to drive your car? The first generation
Chevrolet Volt won Motor Trend's Car of the Year award in 2015.(Reynolds.1.) Some of the cool
things about the volt are the smooth riding & the switch from the electric power, to the gas
engine power, which is a smooth transition, believe it or not. The Volt also has a very complex
powertrain & great gas mode milage. There is a 53 EV Range in the Volt and can be used
whenever you choose. To help promote this car, creating charging stations would help. I think the
best part of the car is the smooth ride. The Volt is an incredibly smooth riding vehicle. It takes
only 7.6 seconds to get up to 60 MPH (Reynolds.5). The volt has a 120 MPH top speed. (Tingwall.2)
"Its battery weight telegraphs solid, road–quieting ride motions, and this less–stressed engine is both
quieter and smart." (Reynolds.5)...show more content...
The car provides you with a smooth ride, so you don't have to worry about those big bumps in the
roads. It is economically safe and healthy, the electric power uses electricity so you don't pollute
the air with unnecessary exhaust gas fumes. The milage is very nice cause you don't have to
worry about running out of gas, or having to stop for gas, plus you have your electric power to
rely on once you run out of gas. Many cities already do have charging stations and many more
cities are getting them, this is nice so if you go on a road trip, or just to work you can charge up
and be ready to drive many more miles. With the EV the car will keep going if you run out of
electric power, it will switch over to engine power, how cool is that? The Volt's complex
powertrain helps it get better gas milage, because of the way it is designed. There are so many
unique things the Volt has to offer, why wouldn't you want your next car purchase to be a Volt? If
you were a smart person you would buy the Chevrolet Volt as your next

12. Bitcoin Essay
Looking for a Bitcoin Buying Guide? Wondering where to start? People have a lot of misconceptions
about bitcoin – the very first widely known and accepted cryptocurrency worldwide.
A lot of people think for example that only hackers and shady people use it. However bitcoin is
actually going mainstream with everyone from TigerDirect to Expedia.com to Dell and even
Subway accepting payments in bitcoin now.
Why so popular?
Well, bitcoin has a lot of benefits over other currencies. For example, you can send bitcoins to
someone as payment without having to go through the bank middleman (and get hit with extra fees).
It's also much faster than sending money via a bank wire or transfer. You can send bitcoins to
someone and have them receiving...show more content...
Popular wallets include Blockchain, Armory, Bitgo MyCelium and Xapo.
Usually it's as simple as downloading the wallet to your phone as an app or downloading the

#2 Decide Where to Buy
There are several types of places to buy and each one is a bit different. There are online sellers that
will sell you bitcoins directly for cash (or bank wire or credit card).
There are exchanges where you can buy and sell bitcoins from others – similar to a stock market.
There are also local exchanges that link you up with sellers in your area looking to sell.
There are also ATMs where you go to purchase with cash and get your coins delivered to your wallet
in minutes.
Each bitcoin seller has their benefits and drawbacks. For example ATMs are great for privacy, but
they'll charge you up to 20% on top of the current price, which is ridiculous. (On a BTC price of
$2000, that $400! So you're paying $2400 instead of $2000).
No matter where you decide to buy, remember to do your research and go with a trusted seller with a
good reputation and strong customer service. First time buyers will especially have questions and
may need the extra support to help them with their first transaction.
Take your time and research the different places to buy before you decide. Factors to consider
include coin prices, extra fees, method of payment and customer service.
