Executive summary :
Menon bearings Ltd. Is a company which is established in 1991. The company manufactures Thin walled
Engines, Bushes & Thrust washers which are used for heavy automobile engines and as well as for compressors,
refrigerators , air conditioners, etc. The company is listed by BSE(Bombay Stock Exchange ). It has been awarded by
the status of “Self Certification/ Single sources/ Ship of Use”. The products are manufactured by the raw materials as
Copper, Tin, Lead, Steel Strip, Aluminium Tin Bimetal Strips, Lead &Tin based metals , Antimony with some of the
chemicals , oil & lubricants. These products are marketed around 24 countries round the globe divided by North zone,
South zone, East zone, West zone and the rest with India companies. The company is situated in about 400 kilometres
in kolhapur, with the workforce of more than 1200 in 6of their manufacturing units with the annual turnover of US
$70 Million. Collaboration with world leader companies like M/s. Izumi Industries Ltd., Japan and M/s .Kings Ltd.,
Israel.
Introduction:
Menon bearings Ltd. Established in 1991 , is one of the few companies in the continent having fully
integrated manufacturing facilities under one roof , to produce a wide range of critical auto components like bi-metals
Engine bearings, Bushes & Thrust Washers for light & heavy automobile engines as well as for compressors ,
refrigerators , air conditioners etc.
Menon Bearings Ltd is a public limited company engaged in the production of Thin Walled Engine Bearings
, Bushes & Thrust Washer . Basic raw materials require for the production of Thin Walled Engine Bearings, Bushes &
Thrust Washers are Copper, Tin, Lead, Steel Strip, Aluminium Tin Bimetal Strips, Lead & Tin based Babbitt Metal &
Antimony. In addition to the company uses other consumables & spares like Chemicals, Oil and Lubricants, Tools,
Packing materials etc. Broadly, production process can be divided into two parts: a] Production of Copper/Lead Strips
b] Production of final products i.e. Thin Walled Engine Bearings, Bushes & Thrust Washers out of Copper/Lead
Strips.
Menon Bearings Ltd is listed on the BSE(Bombay Stock Exchange) & is globally positioned with business
activities spanning 24 countries around the globe.One of the largest Automotive component manufactured is situated
in Kolhapur which is about 400 kilometres. employees a work force of more than 1200 in 6 of their manufacturing
units with an annual turnover of US $ 70 Million with business activities.The Group Companies had in the past
collaboration with world leaders like, M/s. Izumi Industries Ltd, Japan (for piston) and M/s. King Ltd, of Israel for
the manufacture of Bimetallic Bearings, Bushes & Thrust Washers.
It has been awarded “Self Certification / Single Sources/ Ship of Use” status by leading auto brands across
the world. They are divided in 4 zones namely North zone, East zone, West zone, South zone for this every zone
company appoint zonal marketing executive. Company also supply its products directly to original Equipment
Manufactures e.g. Cummins India Ltd., John Deere Equipment Pvt Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd., Sonalika tractors , Maruti
Suzuki , Mahindra & Mahindra etc. Menon Bearings Ltd. exported almost 40% of its product to USA, France, U.K.,
& Bangladesh. Exports are made through Menon Bearings Exports , which is considered as Sister.
Objective:
1. To study the investment planning for investors.
2. To study the investment risk of the investors.
3. To study the changes in investment planning according to age of investors.
4. To suggest the best investment plans.
Research methodology:
Research Methodology is the specific procedures or techniques used to identify, select, process, and analyse
information about a topic.
• METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION:
A. PRIMARY DATA:
Primary data is data that is collected by a researcher from first-hand sources.
For the proposed of study, researcher used Questionnaire method. Researcher handed the printed
questionnaire to the employees .
B. Secondary data:
Secondary data refers to data that was collected by someone other than the user.
The secondary data is collected through company Records.
➢ Sampling design:
1. Sample size : 90 investors.
2. Sampling method : Random sampling method is been used.
Findings :
1. It is analysed that, the age group between 26 years to 35 years are much more interested to invest with 37
investor .
2. There are 60 male investors, where the rest 30 are female investors.
3. There are 54 investors who’s monthly income is less than Rs 20,000.
4. 60 investors who are aware about investment plans.
5. It is analysed that, there are 60 investors who are willing to invest their money for medium time period while
only 5 investors choose for long time period .
6. There are 70 investors investing their money in less than Rs 20,000.
7. 60 investors prefer to invest in long term .
8. There are 72 investors who’s opinion about investing money in low return with low risk while 5 investors
opinion is high return with high risk .
9. 43 investors think that investment contains moderate risk while 16 investors think that investment contains
low risk.
10. 25 investors plan for Mutual fund while only 2 investors plan for Bond/debentures.
11. It is analysed that, 41 investors had taken small risk in past financial decisions , while 4 had taken large risk.
12. It is analysed that, 40 investors investment objectives are growth and income.
13. It is analysed that, 6 had invested in Real estate earlier while 20 investors in Mutual fund.
14. It is analysed that, 43 investors consider about returns
15. It is examined that,50 investors rate at an average rate to grow their investment .
16. There are 54 investors agree that investment money is safe even if it means to lower return.
17. From table 4.17, it is analysed that, there are 75 investors do not pay any extra fees with regular expenses along
with investments.
18. From table 4.18, it is analysed that, there are 66 investors who are interested in paying less than 15% for their
investments.
19. From table 4.19, it is analysed that, only 20 investors have an experience of investment for more than 5 years
while 40 investors have an experience if investment of 2-5 years.
20. From table 4.20, it is analyse that, there are 80 investors are interested in suggesting others to invest their
money in investments.
Suggestions:
1. According to the observation , the researcher would like to suggest that , the investors can also look towards the other
investment plans other than mutual funds .
2. As gold investment can be anytime very useful because gold can be converted into money anytime from anywhere .
Even banks provide gold loans as an investment for other necessary times.
3. The researcher also suggest to look towards the fixed deposit , because investing a little amount in fixed deposit can give
a large amount of output till the retirement of investor which can be very helpful in future.
4. Even bonds is one of the good investment , as bonds allow to get a good return with interest.
Conclusion:
Investment planning is the process of matching your financial goals and objectives with your financial resources.
Investment planning is a core component of financial planning. It is impossible to have one without the other. It is very
necessary to invest because some or the other time they come in a very good times during necessary times. It helps for the
future of the life . The invested money is very useful , as it can be used for anything like for a start up of new business , for
the health related issues , for education , time after retirement and many more.

Researcher handed the printed questionnaire to the employees . B. Secondary data: Secondary data refers to data that was collected by someone other than the user. It is analysed that, the age group between 26 years to 35 years are much more interested to invest with 37 investor . 2. There are 60 male investors, where the rest 30 are female investors. 3. There are 54 investors who’s monthly income is less than Rs 20,000. 4. 60 investors who are aware about investment plans. 5. It is analysed that, there are 60 investors who are willing to invest their money for medium time period while only 5 investors choose for long time period . 6. There are 70 investors investing their money in less than Rs 20,000. 7. 60 investors prefer to invest in long term . 8. There are 72 investors who’s opinion about investing money in low return with low risk while 5 investors opinion is high return with high risk . 9. 43 investors think that investment contains moderate risk while 16 investors think that investment contains low risk. 10. 25 investors plan for Mutual fund while only 2 investors plan for Bond/debentures. 11. It is analysed that, 41 investors had taken small risk in past financial decisions , while 4 had taken large risk. 12. It is analysed that, 40 investors investment objectives are growth and income. 13. It is analysed that, 6 had invested in Real estate earlier while 20 investors in Mutual fund. 14. It is analysed that, 43 investors consider about returns 15. It is examined that,50 investors rate at an average rate to grow their investment . 16. There are 54 investors agree that investment money is safe even if it means to lower return. 17. From table 4.17, it is analysed that, there are 75 investors do not pay any extra fees with regular expenses along with investments. 18. From table 4.18, it is analysed that, there are 66 investors who are interested in paying less than 15% for their investments. 19. From table 4.19, it is analysed that, only 20 investors have an experience of investment for more than 5 years while 40 investors have an experience if investment of 2-5 years. 20. From table 4.20, it is analyse that, there are 80 investors are interested in suggesting others to invest their money in investments. Suggestions: 1. According to the observation , the researcher would like to suggest that , the investors can also look towards the other investment plans other than mutual funds . 2. As gold investment can be anytime very useful because gold can be converted into money anytime from anywhere . Even banks provide gold loans as an investment for other necessary times.
