17 - Properties of Texts Organization in writing.pptxRaquelLansangan
In writing, organization refers to the systematic arrangement of ideas, information, and elements within a piece of text. It involves structuring the content in a logical and coherent manner to facilitate understanding and communication with the reader. Effective organization ensures that the writing flows smoothly, guiding the reader through the text from the introduction to the conclusion.
Here's a breakdown of key elements of organization in writing:
Introduction: The introduction serves as the opening of the piece, where the main topic or thesis statement is introduced. It provides context, background information, and sets the tone for the rest of the writing.
Body: The body of the writing contains the main content and supporting details. It is structured into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect or subtopic related to the main idea. The body may be organized chronologically, by order of importance, by comparison and contrast, or in any other logical sequence that best presents the information.
Transitions: Transitions are used to smoothly connect ideas, sentences, and paragraphs within the text. They help maintain coherence and guide the reader through the flow of the writing. Transition words and phrases indicate relationships between different parts of the text, such as cause and effect, comparison, contrast, addition, and so on.
Conclusion: The conclusion wraps up the writing by summarizing the main points and restating the thesis or main idea. It may also provide closure or offer implications, recommendations, or reflections related to the topic discussed.
Overall Structure: The overall structure of the writing depends on the genre, purpose, and audience. Different types of writing, such as narratives, essays, reports, or research papers, may have distinct organizational structures tailored to their specific requirements.
Effective organization enhances clarity, coherence, and readability, making it easier for readers to comprehend and engage with the content. It helps writers effectively communicate their ideas and arguments, leading to more impactful and persuasive writing.

The beaches of South Carolina are experiencing rapid erosion due to storms, sea level rise, and coastal development. Past attempts to prevent erosion, such as jetties and seawalls, have proven damaging and exacerbated the problem. Current efforts focus on beach nourishment projects that pump new sand onto beaches to replace what has been lost, but these are expensive to maintain. Sea level rise also contributes to erosion, as barrier islands and beaches slowly move inland over time as more sand is transported away. Erosion threatens both the economic benefits of tourism and the natural beauty and resources of South Carolina's coastal areas.

10. 10. Abe stayed up late every night playing games on
his phone and was usually late or absent from his first-
period math class each day. Consequently, he did not
pass math and had to retake it in summer school.

11. II. Average:
Choose one pattern that best matches the thesis
statement/ main idea.
1. Although Instagram and Twitter have significant
similarities, they also have striking differences.
2. Freedom is a concept that needs to be
understood.
3. Juvenile delinquency is a social issue that
requires urgent attention.
12. 4. In the field of law, there are several
subspecialties that you can focus on.
5. Major events happened that led to the defeat of
Japan during World War II.
6. Teeth bleaching can be done in five simple steps.
7. All provincial buses should not be allowed to
pass through EDSA.
13. 8. iPhone 13 has many features that make it stand
out in the market.
9. There are many reasons why unemployment
continues to increase.
10. Drinking cough syrup may lead to various side
effects.
14. III. Identify what pattern of development is being used.
1. The dirt of the girls' cotton dresses continued on
their legs, feet, arms, and faces to make them all of a
piece. Their greasy uncolored hair hung down,
uncombed, with grim finality. I knelt to see them better,
to remember them for all time. The tears that had
slipped down my dress left unsurprising dark spots and
made the front yard blurry and even more unreal. The
world had taken a deep breath and was having doubts
about continuing to revolve.
15. 2. The harpsichord and the piano are closely
related. Both are keyboard instruments, and
both produce sound when jacks or hammers
attached to keys strike metal strings. The piano
is a direct descendant of the harpsichord and
takes its shape from that instrument. In fact,
many musical compositions played on one can
be adapted to the other.
16. 3. Before the girls got to the porch, I heard their
laughter crackling and popping like pine logs on a
cooking stove. I suppose my lifelong paranoia was
born in those cold, molasses-slow minutes. They
came finally to stand on the ground in front of
Momma. At first, they pretended seriousness. Then
one of them wrapped her right arm in the crook of her
left, pushed out her mouth, and started to hum. I
realized that she was aping my grandmother.
17. 4. Many superstitions are so widespread and so old that
they must have risen from a depth of the human mind that is
indifferent to race or creed. Orthodox Jews place a charm on
their doorposts; so do (or did) the Chinese. Some people of
Middle Europe believe that when a man sneezes, his soul, for
that moment, is absent from his body, and they hasten to bless
him, lest he should be seized by the Devil. How did the
Melanesians come by the same idea? Superstition seems to
have a link with somebody or belief that far antedates the
religions we know—religions which have no place for such
comforting little ceremonies and charities.
18. 5. Piano is capable of producing greater
volume and variety of tones, and it is more
versatile than its predecessor. Pianos provide
accompaniment for vocalists both classical and
popular, and they are used in every
instrumental group from the small dance band
to the grandest symphony orchestra.
19. 6. There are many types of stringed instruments.
The violin family is made up of the violin, viola, cello,
and double bass. Fretted instruments (frets are strips
that show players where to put their hands) include
the banjo, mandolin, lute, ukulele, and guitar.
Related to these instruments are the lyre and the
harp. The dulcimer, zither, and psaltery form another
family, whose strings are stretched over flat sound
boxes. Finally, there are keyboard stringed
instruments such as the piano, clavichord, and
harpsichord.
20. 7. The viola is a stringed instrument in the
violin family. It is only slightly larger than
the violin and is tuned at a lower pitch. Like
its smaller relative, the viola is held on the
shoulder under the chin and is played with
a bow. While the violin has many uses, the
viola is used mainly in orchestral and
chamber music.
21. 8. An avalanche is a huge snow slide that
rushes down the side of a mountain, carrying
large trees, rocks, and other debris in its path.
Avalanches are similar to landslides but can be
more dangerous and destructive. Avalanches
can occur when huge amounts of new snowfall
on layers of snow and ice that have become
unstable because of melting. They can also be
triggered by explosions or earthquakes.
22. 9. The first step in redesigning your closet is to take
everything out and sort through it. Anything you haven’t
worn in over a year should be given to charity. Check
garments for wear and tear. Take care of anything that
needs mending. If it is beyond repair, get rid of it. The
second step is to install a closet organizer. Choose one
that will hold the different types of garments in your
wardrobe. The third step is to put items in the closet so
that those you wear most often are easy to access. The
final step is to stay organized. Put garments back in
their appropriate places so that you will be able to find
23. 10. Because toys have become electronic devices,
some children today are unable to entertain
themselves. Gone are the days when children
invented their own adventures and used sticks as
swords. cookie sheets as armor, and a refrigerator
box as a fortress to defend. The electronic age has
delivered children all sorts of gadgets and gizmos
that are supposed to be realistic. Some toys even
have buttons to push so prerecorded messages can
be played to begin scripted adventures that require
no imagination. No imagination? No wonder some
children today have short attention spans.
