This proposal was created for my Professional Writing course. The purpose of my assignment was to pitch my short film to a successful film company. The skills used to complete this assignment was writing, research, brainstorming, and organizing.

Introduction
In the film industry, nowadays, there are a lot of films being released that reveal real-life
scenarios of a person or people living in America. Not a lot of people are strong enough
to stand up and take the chance to expose the harsh reality of certain individuals going
through hardship in America. For years, directors and producers have been coming up
with ideas on how to display dark times through the art of film. I think that with my short
film, I can contribute to the cause as well. I too would like to contribute to change in this
world by my art and my films.
Background and Purpose
My short film is about a troubled young girl that moves to Georgia with her distant
relatives because her parents were murdered by gang members. While living in Georgia,
she learns how to express her love for the people around her, take school seriously, and
she even falls in love with the next door neighbors’ son. Life really starts to turn around
for her until she hears from people around town that the gang members that killed her
parents have come to Georgia to kill her as well. I hope that my short film can bring more
awareness to this world. The goal is to help people open their eyes to reality and know
that everything isn’t always what it seems to be.
Proposed Plan of Action
The purpose of my short film is to inspire others to stand by what they believe in, never
be afraid to speak out about what they believe in, to be more aware of the things going on
in the world, and to know that dangerous things could happen to anyone at any time. It is
up to the people of this world to make changes. If more people stood up for what they
believed in, instead of being silent, the world would be a different place. Also,
sometimes, a lot of people live in their own bubble and forget that bad things could
happen to them at any time. It is important to be aware of what is going on around you so
that you can be cautious and prepared. Based off of the research that I’ve conducted, my
findings indicate that it is good to create films like this because it helps others understand
real-life situations and how to handle them.

Staffing
The staff that will be working with me on my short film project are some individuals who
have been working with me for many years and have much experience with working in
the film industry. The staff members will be my production assistant, my director of
photography, my grip, my editor, a hairstylist, and a make-up stylist. My production
assistant is from Atlanta, Georgia and she studied film at Full Sail University. When she
graduated from Full Sail, she took up an internship at Columbia Street Studios. From
there, she went on to becoming a production assistant for my company. My director of
photography is from Orlando, Florida and studied film at the University of Miami. After
graduation, he opened up his own cinematography business and helped people shoot their
short films for a small fee. My grip is from Dallas, Texas and he studied film at Columbia
University. Before he graduated college, he worked on a lot of popular featured films like
Get Out and Jumanji. My editor is from Queens, New York and she studied film at NYU.
She has worked with a lot of film directors and a movie she helped edit was nominated
for an Oscar. My hairstylist and make-up artist are both from Atlanta, Georgia. They
have both worked for A and B list celebrities in Atlanta and they travel to work on movie
sets.

Authorization
This section is similar to a conclusion or summary. It contains a direct request to the
potential investor and reminds him or her of the return on investment. Be very direct and
use one sentence to state the ask. This section also welcomes any questions or concerns
from the potential investor and makes an offer to meet in person. Contact information and
a specific date are given to encourage a call to action.

3. I believe that a short film like mine will add to the vision of your film studio and the
reason why you started creating films. You’ve always been an inspiration of mine. You
helped me determine what kind of films I wanted to make and what kind of message I
wanted to send to people around the world. Investing in my short film will not only bring
profit to you but it will help show the reality that we want people around the world to see.
