Shop by Brand extension for Magento enables you to create separate pages for brands presented in your store and link to them from product pages, thus making it easier for your customers to browse and shop by specific brands (manufacturers, artists, authors, etc.). The extension can be applied to any number of single-select attributes simultaneously, so your customers can shop by multiple attributes.

In System > Manage Aitoc Modules, check
Shop by Brands and click "Save modules
settings" on the top right.

Change this setting only if you are going
to apply the extension’s functionality to
the “Manufacturer” attribute. It will get
automatically replaced with “Brand” then.
For any other single-select attribute you
apply the extension to, the attribute’s
original name will be used.

5. Aitoc3. The Manufacturer/Brand attribute
Catalog > Attributes > Manage Attributes
Select an attribute to be further used in
the “shop by attribute” functionality. It can
be any single-select or multi-select
attribute (any selectable one).
The ”Manufacturer" attribute is used in
Magento to identify the brand. Hence,
select this attribute to use the “Shop By
Brand” functionality for brands.
Please make sure you have filled out the
values for the attribute chosen.
When choosing an attribute the extension
should work with, make sure at least one
of these settings is enabled for it:
-Use in Layered Navigation OR
-Use In Advanced Search OR
-Use In Search Results Layered Navigation

To use the “Shop by” functionality for an
attribute, set “Yes” in the “Activate Shop
By” dropdown.

Choose the attribute you wish to create a
“brand” page for.

You can create “brand” (attribute) pages
one by one or click “Fill Out Brand Pages”
to create blank default pages for all
existing attribute values (brands).
Please note that you can create “brand”
pages separately per Store View.
Now choose the attribute value you wish
to create / edit a “brand” page for.

For each brand/manufacturer, you can edit
meta tags and change the page layout.
You can upload different types of logo
images - no size restrictions!

These settings can be overridden!
Even if you choose “Yes” in these instances,
the logos won’t appear on the front end if
(respectively) “Show Attributes Icons On
Attributes List Page” / “Show Attributes
Icons In Attributes Brief Block ” is set to
“No” in Catalog > Attributes > Manage
Attributes > Shop by.
Show the logo (“Attribute Icon” type) in
the sidebar.
Show the logo (“Attribute Icon” type) on
the “All Brands” list.

The Sort Order is for the brands in the
Featured Brands block (see above).
Include the brand in Featured (see above).
The URL key should be unique within
brands, categories and products. The
module creates a Rewrite Rule for each
brand.

Magento uses cache heavily, so it is
absolutely necessary to flush all cache
when you are done modifying brand pages.

If you set "Include In Navigation Menu" to
"Yes" in "Shop By" attribute settings (See
Part 4 of this manual for detail), a list of
brands - or other attribute values - will
appear in the navigation menu.

A new sideblock with links to brand pages
becomes available right after the module
activation.
You can manually set sorting order and
limit the number of brands (attribute
values) displayed.
You can choose to show brands with
products only or brands from the current
category only.
To move the block to the right sidebar,
change “left” to “right” in the
layout/aitmanufacturers.xml file.

A new Featured Brands block becomes
available (can be Featured Artists, etc.)
A new page with a list of All Brands sorted
by name becomes available.
