Dr. Shashi Tharoor is an Indian politician and former diplomat who has had a long career in the United Nations and Indian government. He received his education in India and the United States, earning multiple degrees including a PhD from Tufts University. Tharoor has had a long career in the UN rising to serve as Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information. He has also authored over 20 books on various topics and writes newspaper columns that appear internationally. Tharoor joined the Indian National Congress and was elected to the Lok Sabha, serving as a representative from 2009 to 2019.
