UK film council would be a good production company to help produce and fund my film because they often produce films of a more risky, ‘edgey’ or less obvious nature that aren’t always about reaching the biggest audience at once. This is due to the fact that the UK film council have targets to reach the audiences or different cultures and social groups, they aim to reach a wide span of the audiences throughout the nation through the different films they produce. Another reason is because they have produced a film in our urban genre of street culture and gang crime being ‘Kidulthood’. Kidulthood was a film of the same urban principles and was a very successful film as it reached almost all of its selected audience and managed to branch out to people outside of that intended audience also. This leads me to think they would be very interested in our film as it is a film with a good concept and it falls within their remit. PRODUCTION
- 3. Although I feel the UK film council would be good I also feel gateway films could help produce and fund our film. They have also been involved in the production of films in our urban genre such as ‘Anuvahood’ and ‘Shank’. These films are more recent that Kidulthood and I feel would have had a bigger budget due to the ways in which they’re portrayed or come across. So I think we may be allocated a bigger budget with gateway films, maybe they are more trusting or believing in a new/risky concepts and therefore will allocate a bigger budget. However this could be due to the fact that Kidulthood was the first out of these films and there is more money in the UK film scene now as a whole so the companies may have had more disposable revenue and so may UK film council now PRODUCTION
- 4. I would choose Revolver Entertainment for the distribution company because they have a history of distribution in urban and street cultured films in the past. They help distribute the three films I mentioned previously in production being Kidulthood, Anuvahood and Shank. Due to the success of these films, or should I say how well they were distributed I feel they would be suitable. All three of these had good exposure, featured in cinema’s and were very well known across the nation. With this exposure I am sure our film could be as successful as these three films if not more so DISTRUBUTION
