Box uses the Solr search platform to power content search across its 25 million+ users. Some key aspects of Box's search implementation with Solr include:
1) The Solr index is sharded or split across multiple shards for high availability and scalability, with each file identifier mapped to a specific shard.
2) Search queries are handled by a front-end load balancer that distributes queries across multiple search head nodes for high availability.
3) Solr documents contain metadata like file owner, parent folders, and extracted text to support search by content, ownership, and folder structure.

Kitenga's ZettaVox and ZettaSearch products support SOLR and Lucene ecosystems at both the ingestion point and for the search user. In this talk, I will show how ZettaVox, our professional content mining platform on Hadoop, can be used to index content and rich metadata into a LucidWorks Enterprise installation. Being built on Hadoop, ZettaVox scales up by scaling out. I will then create an end-user search and analytics experience using our ZettaSearch solution that leverages the faceted metadata to enhance information discovery and analysis. All in about 20 minutes.
What are the challenges in searching an 85 year old document? The United States Code was published by the United States Congress in 1926 as a single bound volume containing all of the general and permanent laws of the United States Government. It has been updated every year since and has grown into a 30 volume set of some 40,000 pages divided into 50 titles.

In the last years, the idea of building applications that can be used remotely by mean of the Web, has coined a new concept called "Software as a Service". Such applications, have the advantage of a remote web deployment that can be instantaneously be used by potentially any consumer in internet or of the cost reduction that a Web-based deployment provides.
Imagine that you have to integrate and search data from 200 different sources, each of which uses a different structure .Your data may be incomplete, the same information is represented in different ways by different sources, and it’s often vague

Temporal and semantic analysis of richly typed social networks from user-gene...Zide Meng
We propose an approach to detect topics, overlapping communities of interest, expertise, trends and activities in user-generated content sites and in particular in question-answering forums such as StackOverflow. We first describe QASM (Question & Answer Social Media), a system based on social network analysis to manage the two main resources in question-answering sites: users and content. We also introduce the QASM vocabulary used to formalize both the level of interest and the expertise of users on topics. We then propose an efficient approach to detect communities of interest. It relies on another method to enrich questions with a more general tag when needed. We compared three detection methods on a dataset extracted from the popular Q&A site StackOverflow. Our method based on topic modeling and user membership assignment is shown to be much simpler and faster while preserving the quality of detection. We then propose an additional method to automatically generate a label for a detected topic by analyzing the meaning and links of its bag of words. We conduct a user study to compare different algorithms to choose a label. Finally we extend our probabilistic graphical model to jointly model topics, expertise, activities and trends. We performed experiments with real-world data to confirm the effectiveness of our joint model, studying user behaviors and topic dynamics.

Continuous Applications at Scale of 100 Teams with Databricks Delta and Struc...Databricks
Zalando strives to be a fully data-driven company that utilizes AI to make decisions fast and accurately. For this reason we have built a Data Lake that contains all data of the company. To provide easy access to that data and enable the company to make use of it, we have established an internal platform that offers Databricks as a service for all departments and teams. Making Databricks Delta tables available to all clients of the Data Lake enabled them to leverage Structured Streaming and to build continuous applications on top of it. Big part of this journey was solving challenges in governance, security and access management. In this talk we want to share our experience in productionizing and operating Databricks at scale and in making data-driven continuous applications feasible out of the box.

LucidWorks App for Splunk Enterprise is the first of its kind, specifically designed to allow companies to analyze and manage the health and availability of their Solr deployments in Splunk software. The solution integrates multi-structured data indexed by Solr directly into Splunk® Enterprise, giving system administrators the ability to look at the intersection of documents, customer records or other unstructured data sources as they relate to machine data. This enables companies to optimize their Solr applications, glean insights from search and usage patterns and spot security concerns to improve end user experiences and derive more business value from data-driven applications.
This webinar will explore the features of the App, and provide attendees with valuable information on the following key components:
Solr Monitor: Monitor the health and availability and utilization of LucidWorks and/or Solr deployments with pre-defined data inputs, dashboards and reports
Search Analytics: Perform user behavior and click-stream analysis with pre-built search analytics reports and fields
NoSQL Lookups: Using Splunk’s lookup facility enrich your Splunk reports with data of any structure using Solr’s fully indexed and searchable NoSQL-datastore
Search Time Joins: Join Splunk data with human generated and other unstructured data sources stored in Solr at search time for developing data-driven applications

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
