Mission
The mission of Apex Elite Academy
(“The Academy”) is to empower true student-
athletes who embrace and develop their gifts in
scholarship and athletics. We seek to eliminate
the negative effects of ruthless opportunism
impacting young athletes in urban areas, and
to build citizenship, camaraderie, and common
purpose between girls and boys from different
backgrounds. We foresee that accomplishing our
mission will lead to shared goals, stronger local
communities, and our societies greater good.

Academy
for Lower
and Middle School
Students
Goals for the Girls and Boys in the Program
	 1) Teach critical academic and executive functioning skills
		 that will improve school performance.
	 2) Develop basketball skills and improve the athleticism
		 for student-athletes in the program.
	 3) Foster bonds between young girls and boys from
varied backgrounds in the city of Chicago.
The Program
The primary goal of the program is to equip student-athletes
with needed skills to compete academically and athletically
at the highest level. Additionally, the program will provide
mentoring and support that will empower young athletes to rise
above pressures and promises of quick “fame and fortune.” The
program will allow young people to see the value of academics
as well as benefits of striving for success in the classroom
and on the court, modeling how strength in both areas work
together to enhance their skills and goals in life. We seek to
build community and understanding with young people who
come from different walks of life, but who share athletic and
academic goals.
Program Components
Academic Enrichment
The academic plan will focus on the following areas for each student-
athlete in the program.
	 1) An individualized academic improvement plan for each
student-athlete to eliminate weaknesses and enhance
		 strengths
	 2) Reports from the testing and feedback from teachers to
evaluate areas for improvement and areas of strength
	 3) Objective academic assessment using the CPT standardized
test created by the Educational Resource Board (ERB)
	 4) Volunteer tutors to facilitate the academic plan through
at minimum, three (3) tutoring sessions per week throughout
		 the calendar year
	 5) Tutors to be resourced from the University of Chicago
Laboratory Schools, The University of Chicago, Latin School
of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, DePaul University,
		 University of Illinois-Chicago, and volunteers-at-large
	 6) Development of executive functioning and time management
		 skills
At The Academy we strive for excellence in the classroom and on the court.
Our approach to academic achievement and athletic training is rigorous and
is designed to bring out the best in our student-athletes. Our programming
is unique to each student-athlete and will deliver remarkable improvements
in academics and athletics. Our student-athletes start with us in Lower or
Middle School and will participate in the program until they graduate from
high school and remain a part of our family for life.
We look forward to meeting you and urge you to email us to inquire about
how we help our student-athletes build the tools for success in life and on
the court!
