A transistor is a semiconductor device with three terminals (emitter, base, collector) that can amplify or switch electronic signals. It consists of layers of n-type and p-type semiconductor material. In a series circuit, all components share the same current and if one component fails the entire circuit fails. In a parallel circuit, components provide multiple paths for current and individual components can fail without affecting others.

They created the point-contact transistor in 1947 and the bipolar junction transistor in 1948. - 5. How does a transistor work? Transistors are composed of three parts a base, a collector, and an emitter. The base is the gate controller device for the larger electrical supply. The collector is the larger electrical supply, and the emitter is the outlet for that supply.
- 6. Types of Transistor There are two types of BJT transistors NPN PNP
- 7. NPN Transistor The transistor in which one p-type material is placed between two n- type materials is known as NPN transistor NPN transistors may serve as amplifiers. Different levels of electrical current are sent from the base lead, which may be used to control a larger amount of current to amplify electrical power. NPN transistors may also serve as switches, turning currents on or off.
- 8. PNP Transistor The transistor in which one N- type material is placed between two P-type materials is known as PNP transistor A small electrical current flowing to the transistor's base and emitter leads controls a larger current from the emitter to the collector. A PNP transistor turns on its emitter-collector connection if the voltage at the base is lower than that at the emitter.
