Make Your Selenium Suite Faster and Reliable: Test Setup with REST APIs - SQA...Sargis Sargsyan
Performance is one of the main painful areas of Selenium suits. Usually, engineers trying to login, logout, navigate, create data, execute an action from the UI via Selenium, then, in the end, performing test assertions. This creates serious performance issue for the Selenium suite and makes Selenium tests more brittle. Also, the problem solution could be better if the test data creation and deletion also will be done before Selenium will open the browser. This will help to create independent tests later to be able to run them in parallel.
This document covers the rational for cross browser testing ion the cloud. Selenium testing infrastructure can be cost effectively replaced with Sauce Labs Selenium in th cloud offering, called Sauce OnDemand.
Presented at Drupal Camp Chicago 2012
Michelle Krejci details how Promet has used Jenkins, PHPUnit, and Selenium to automate our current continuous integration process so you can begin to start automating your QA testing today. She then outlines how Promet has begun to also include Phing and Chef to run PHPUnit tests on custom modules as part of test driven development. Finally, she looks at the challenges to running user acceptance tests on a Drupal installation and moving the Drupal community away from SimpleTest towards PHPUnit testing.
In short, this is an overview of what works, what doesn't, and why this is important to the Drupal community.

Developers and testers struggle every day to have a working local development environment ready when developing, debugging and going through the continuous integration cycle (CI). We can solve that by using docker based dev-testing environment based on Docker Compose (previously Fig) or integrating Docker and Vagrant to be used with a CI tool. This combination allows us to control applications at the stack level on development machines, while being able to use the same stack in integration tests. The talk will cover:
• An introduction to Docker
• Using Docker for CI integration tests
• Control of stack instead of single docker or app
• Version control of development and test environments, easily distributed with git and docker tools.
• Seamless support for running Dockers on Mac and windows.
• Selenium tests and Selenium Grid in the docker.

Introduction To Cypress | Differences Between Cypress & SeleniumRavendra Singh
Cypress helps in quick and easy setup and execution of tests. In addition, it facilitates lower writing time for tests compared to other frameworks. Moreover, it allows easy integration with any CI tool that is equipped for headless execution with command-line options. Moreover, it automatically captures screenshots of test execution in case of any failure and helps in diagnosing bugs and debugging.
Comprehensive Performance Testing: From Early Dev to Live ProductionTechWell
Although the idea of doing performance testing throughout the software lifecycle sounds simple enough, as soon as you try to combine the concepts of “always testing” (in dev, pre-prod, and production) with “limited time and resources” and throw in the word “comprehensive,” the challenges can be monumental. Quickly the “how” of it emerges as the most important question—and one worth focusing on. Brad Stoner tackles this topic by explaining how he has been able to solve this seemingly impossible puzzle by applying various approaches such as early and often, learning when to say no, and seriously, I did say no—and more. Brad shares concrete examples of how he has successfully implemented full lifecycle performance testing at several companies. Join Brad to learn what performance tests to run at each development and delivery stage—from a simple load profile on a single server to full-scale soak tests over several days.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
