3. • It was founded in 969 AD.
• Nicknamed "the city of a
thousand minarets" for its
preponderance of Islamic
architecture.
• Cairo was founded by theFatimid
dynasty in the 10th century AD,
but the land composing the
present-day city was the site of
national capitals whose remnants
remain visible in parts of Old
Cairo.
• The building inside and at the
outskirt s of Fatimid (old Cairo)
belongs to eras from the Fatimid
to present . With most of
buildings dated back to at least
300 years.

20. • Fatimid Cairo is a city of more than 1000 years old with
most of the buildings hundreds of years old.
• Deterministic and probabilistic seismic hazards were
applied to aid the efforts for repairing and restoration of
the archaeological buildings and human heritage.
• Deterministic approach suggests that a PGA of about 200
gals is the maximum expected.
• PSHA SA results for 72, 475 and 2475 years are about 50,
150 and 310 gals respectively.
• HVSR method is applied to determine Fundamental
frequencies at 9 sites in the study area, the fundamental
frequencies ranges from 0.5 to 1.1 Hz
