2. BIODIVERSITY LOSS
The conservation of biodiversity is the pratice of protecting the natural
environment and its many species . This can be done through the
establishment of protected areas , such as national parks and natural
reserves , and by encouraging responsible land use practice .a
decrease in biodiversity within a species, an ecosystem, a given
geographic area, or Earth as a whole. Biodiversity, or biological
diversity, is a term that refers to the number of genes, species,
individual organisms within a given species, and
biological communities within a defined geographic area, ranging from
the smallest ecosystem to the global biosphere. (A
biological community is an interacting group of various species in a
common location.) Likewise, biodiversity loss describes the decline in
the number, genetic variability, and variety of species, and the
biological communities in a given area. This loss in the variety of life
can lead to a breakdown in the functioning of the ecosystem where
decline has happened.
3. A FLOURISHING LIFE ON LAND IS THE FONDATION FOR
OUR LIFE ON THIS PLANET . WE ARE ALL PART OF THE
PLANET’S ECOSYSTEM AND WE HAVE CAUSED
SEVERE DAMAGE TO IT THROUGH DEFORESTATION ,
LOSS OF NATURAL HABITATS AND LAND
DEGRADATION. PROMOTING A SUSTAINABLE USE OF
OUR ECOSYSTEM AND PRESERVING bIODIVERSITY IS
NOT CAUSE ,. IT IS THE KEY TO OUR OWN SURVIVAL.
5. Deforestation is one of the most pressing
environmental issues we face today. It not only
leads to the loss of habitat for countless species
but also accelerates climate change due to
significant amounts of carbon dioxide stored in
these ecosystems.
6. DEGRADATION OF NATURAL HABITATS &
LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY
Habitat loss occurs when natural habitat are
converted to human uses such as cropland,
urban areas, and infrastructure development
( e.g dams, roads etc ).
Habitat loss,degradation and fragmentation
are viewed as the largest cause of
biodiversity loss and the primary factor
resulting in species being listed as
threatened or endangered .
7. Ans.... Habitats are degraded when
theirs condition declines due to
factors such as pollution , invasive
species , and over utilization of natural
resources .
8. Q2.How can you protect biodiversity ?
Ans ..Here are some points to protect biodiversity -
1. Support local and regional projects aimed at tackling
biodiversity loss.
2. Buying fewer products and making sure the
products you do buy minimize the impact on
biodiversity
3. Investing in ways that promote biodiversity
4. Reducing waste of consumer goods: food, clothes,
electrical appliances, etc
