Inequality and Conflict and Social Justice

Inequality one of the common vices in the modern 21st century where the oppression in

terms of age, sex, race, ethnicity and political affiliations are still common throughout the world.

This is a trend which is even worse off in the third world developing countries in the world

majorly in Asia and Africa. Income related inequalities and uneven distribution of property have

seen a huge gap between the rich and the poor and has accelerated the rate of crime in some

areas (Goodwin, 2007). It shows a tremendous regress to social justice as the systems get to

favor the well of rather have a system where they rich get richer and poor poorer making it hard

for the latter to get out of the misery.

Gender inequality has been seen from time in memorial as seen in religion where in the

bible it was not possible for the women to go to the temple or become priest. Their roles were

well defined as inferior especially showing that in the books, God is deemed to be male that

society leaning to that line. In leadership roles, almost 80% of world leaders are male who often

make some laws that oppress the women (Allen, 2006). But since the 18th century there has come

up a group of women feminists who have taken up the role of fighting for an equal social status

and though some even lost their lives doing that, they have come to be respectable and key

figures in the society. These are the likes of Jeanne from France,

Women in some countries get lesser pay than the men in equal job ranks because of the

concept that the men should be superior. In some countries, women are not allowed to work but

instead they tend to care for the family and do household chores (Goodwin, 2007). These ways,

the economic benefits are less and slower than they actually should be the double work of both

sexes would allow the economy to grow twice as much.

Social justice can be achieved by having an equal base for both sexes with an aim of

having equal representation and having a system where there are more chances of addressing

more problems than with only one sex in power (McMullin, 2011). There needs to be more

stringent policies which would see the attainment of social justice and this can be achieved in

several ways. These include having in place better economic, social, political policies which will

see better interdependence with the citizens and ensure there is better economic growth. It will be

functional if there is more sustainable development and growth in the strategies that make

persons be more willing to be better in every aspect of life.

Gender roles as understood by society have to be revised in a way that the independent

woman is more capable of being self providing and even promoting growth. The equality of

rights is in the elimination of by having the outmost elimination of any form of discrimination in

all aspects of life making, the fundamental rights and freedom should be equally applied to all

persons irrespective of any background (Goodwin, 2007). Equal opportunities with stable social

and economic, cultural and all other forums allow the people to exploit their qualities to the

highest levels known. Policies on housing, health care and education will allow the people to be

better placed in making any form of life.
