It is clear that the media often
present young people in a negative
way;many say that the word ‘youth’
is associated with a negative
stereotype

INT.VOICEOVER

Stereotyping has also been
included in TV and film dramas
when covering young people and
sexuality.
Films often portray youths in a
sexually active way. Most films
usually show a lack of positive
images of lesbians and gay
teenagers and seem to focus on
sexual encounters that youths
participate in. young males are
usually portrayed as male
predator’s and females as easy
sexual targets.

EXT. Acton Park. Morning
However showing positive
representations of young
homosexuals and heterosexuals it
can help challenge bullying and
discrimination.


Is it fair that the media portray
teenagers as the perpetrators
rather than as the victims?(End)
