Teen-Age Crime Wave
The intention of the film is to put across the challenge of juvenile insurgence of crime rate in the society. The film makes use of a female character whose childhood is abused, with a record in crime and the choice for her blouses has a bad taste. Also there is another naive woman character that goes on a double date with the first woman. The other lady manages to seduce a bar patron who is doughy. Their intention is to roll the old patron. However, their plan of robbing the bar man is unmasked after the two are arrested and a harsh sentence of incarcerating them is imposed. The male character is a gun enthusiast who kills in order to achieve his desires, intercepts the vehicle transporting the two ladies and assists them to escape. Later the guy is intercepted by the police while heading to the farmhouse but they hold hostage in the vehicle.
The Film is a teenager movie that focuses on the characters and lifestyle of teens. The film uses more youth actors who play on the screen very delinquently. Teenage Age Crime Wave is a major version where the community is surrounded by criminals. The film shows how Hollywood’s juvenile youths have a culture of violence and how they disregard families and properties. There is a growing public concern regarding the severity of juvenile crime during that period. For instance, there is an increase in the number of court cases, there is social disintegration and the misbehavior of the youth symbolizes this.
The Teen-Age Crime Wave reveals a curios and an inconsistent fascination of culture among the youth through its cast of young actors. Therefore, it caters for the young audience by capturing certain lifestyles of youths and promoting some perspectives of the youth. The youth are have been targeted in this film for various reasons. For instance, the youths have an income and therefore are able to enjoy themselves at entertainment joints, the youths of today are the consumption driven and the same is expected in future when they become parents. The film further shows evidence on how it pays attention to the youths’ attitudes and behaviors where there are various crimes being committed. Therefore, the film has capitalized deeply on the youth’s social behavior and concern for their personal traits (Grant, 2012).
Dominant issues in the film are the high levels of juvenile crime that have become a major problem. For instance, there is false conviction of the youths, thus the film has raised issues that are focusing on a series of crime in juvenile and how it signifies the major crisis in America. The characters commit crimes but they are intercepted by the police while there are on the run. Majority of those arrested are the youths as opposed to the adults. The film also explores the history of the contemporary America, the changin ...

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2. How are young People and youth culture
represented?
They are represented into extreme negative light. They are presented
with lack of education, lack of self-disciplined and mostly with lack of
love.
For instance, in terms of mise-en-scene, most young people are
associated with guns and drugs.
• Young people are easily corrupted by power- they do not use power
in a positive way to make things better instead they use for killing and
robbing this is effective because like adults they want power to
control everything around them. Like Lil Dice they want respect and
independent.
• The youth culture are trapped in a cycle of criminality. They are
shown committing crimes and doing drugs this is effective as
Mierelles shows this is normal and acceptable.
3. What would be good scenes to talking in relation to
the representation of Young people/youth culture?
Why?
Tender Trio- The Gas Truck Hold Up
The scene presents three teenage boys with child like bheaviour who
takes the law and crime as a game. They are not aware of the real
consequences.
• Another supportive scene is when The Tender Trio robs the motel not
knowing later on this will lead them to their death.
• The Motel Scene – when Lil Dice kills the people brutally.
In this scene Lil Dice is represented in a devil form who is mentally and
emotionally disturbed. It could be argued the major reason of Lil Dice
behaving aggressively is because he want to be in control and gain the
power.
4. What might be challenging about the
representation of young people and youth
culture?
The lack of education and lack of understanding- I think these
are the major things that has challenge the youngsters in ‘City
of God’ for instance The Runts suffers from the lack of
understanding of the gangster lifestyle but still wants to be a
part of the gang which shows they want to gain a power and
respect like Lil Dice.
Lack of self- discipline is another major concept which makes
the youngsters vulnerable and fragile. The lack of parents'
love and support is shown in a great deal as how this is shown
through their appearances.
Choosing the right path is also considered as a great deal in
‘City of God’ Violence versus escapism through hard work is
an good example as how Rocket does not follow the same
path as the majority of the characters .
5. What messages might the audience take from this
film about young people and youth culture?
The young people in City of God are doomed from the start and
are trapped within the slum and are conflict within it- although
youths are trapped it’s the choices they make that can change
their lives. The choice between a gun and a camera is
highlighted often.
That gangs are extremely important in youth culture. Belonging
to a gang gives teens a sense of identity, power and family.
The ‘Runts’ are represented as a band of gun-toting, mischief-
making and free- wheeling ‘criminals’ this negative
representation serves to mirror social anxieties revolving youth
culture in Brazil.
