The Female Reproductive System
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
Generalization
* The female reproductive system is
composed of the following organs:
ovaries, fallopian tube, uterus, cervix
and vagina.
1. ovaries are the female
reproductive organs.
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
It produces the female sex hormones
called estrogen and progesterone.
 About 70,000 potential egg cells
present in a female when she was
born but only 500 of these eggs will
mature. This will released every
month when a female reaches
puberty until 43-55 years old.
 This egg leaves the ovary through
the fallopian tube.
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
2.Fallopian tubes/ oviducts are the
thin, soft tubes extending from the
uterus to the ovaries.
>Leads the egg from the ovary to
the uterus.
>Female humans has two
fallopian tubes
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
3.Uterus /womb is a hallow, pear-shaped
organ with a muscular wall and a lining
called endometrium- this becomes thicker
as it accumulates blood and nutrients to
accommodate the unborn baby as it
develops.
4. Cervix is located in the lower
portion of the uterus that opens into
the vagina. It expands during
childbirth.
canal.’
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
5. Vagina is the outside passage way of
the baby which is called as the “birth
canal.’

PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
1. Why is vagina called as
the birth canal?
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
Vagina is called as birth
canal because it is the
passage way for childbirth.
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
What are produced in the
ovaries in the female
reproductive system?
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
Egg cells and hormones
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
How many eggs does a
woman release every
month?
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
A woman releases an egg
every month.
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
5. What is the role of the
fallopian tube in the female
reproductive system?
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
The fallopian tube
connects the ovaries to the
uterus.
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
Vagina serves as the birth canal or the
passageway of the baby about to be
born.
Ovaries release the egg cell and the
hormones, estrogen and progesterone.
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
Cervix expands and allow the baby to
pass through the vagina.
Fallopian tubes connect the ovaries to
the uterus.
Uterus holds the fertilized egg and
nurtures until the baby is fully
developed.
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
Read each item carefully. Choose the letter of the correct
answer.
___1. What are the female reproductive
organs?
A. egg cells B. ovaries
C. sperms D. testes
___2. Why is the vagina called the birth canal?
A.It is pyramid in shape.
B. It is where the urine passes
C. It receives the sperm
D. The new born baby passes out from it

___3. Which best describe the ovaries?
A. oblong-shaped and located on the
left and right side of the uterus
B. the outside passage way of the
baby
C. located in lower portion of the
uterus that opens into the vagina
D. hallow, pear-shaped organ with a
muscular wall and a lining
PRECILA R. UMALI
JZMES
___4. Which is not a part of the female
reproductive system?
A. Cervix B. epididymis
C. fallopian tube D. uterus
___5. What do ovaries produce?
A. sperm cells
B. egg cells
C. zygote
D. fertilized egg
